We recently spent a night at this property and were pleasantly surprised. We had not done any previous booking, as we were not sure where we would be that night and decided to stay in Ferryland. It was very lucky for us there was a vacancy. We were greeted warmly and shown to a lovely modern, well decorated room, with adjoining ensuite. The bed was very comfortable and we were provided with a beautiful view of Ferryland harbor, as well as color, cable TV. After spending a quiet restful night we were served a delicious home cooked full breakfast and enjoyed a lovely conversation with the owners. I would highly recommend this property, as it made our vacation more enjoyable.

Room Tip: We chose a double with a 3 piece ensuite, but they do have a queen with a 4 piece ensuite as well.

The brand new B&B is located just a few minutes walk from the Colony of Avalon and from the trail that goes to the lighthouse at the end of the peninsula. Great hospitality from Maxine and Charlie. Nice clean rooms with great views and great breakfast !

If you want to experience wonderful hospitality, stay with Maxine and Charlie at Dunnes B&B. With the limited number of places to stay within the Avalon Peninsula, use Dunnes B&B as your home base. You can take day trips throughout the peninsula and enjoy the warm and friendly accommodations provided by the Dunnes in the evenings.
My husband and I did not make reservations for our nightly accommodations during our recent visit to Newfoundland(big mistake), and due to a cancellation at this B&B, we were lucky enough to be able to get a room here for one evening.
When we return to Newfoundland during a future vacation, we plan to stay at Dunnes B&B for an extended period- 4 to 5 days, and take day trips to the points of interest.
The interior of the B&B is very charming and the B&B was built by Charlie, a master craftsman. Maxine has the "Do Whatever It Takes" attitude to ensure her guests have a great experience. She will assist with making reservations for the local dinner show, provide suggestions on sightseeing highlights, etc.
The only item you need to be aware of is payment is cash or travelers checks only.
You will truly enjoy this area of Newfoundland, and your hosts- Maxine and Charlie will do everything they can to make your stay pleasant.

We have travelled to NL three times and have stayed at numerous B&Bs. Dunne's ranks as one of the best. Located within easy walking distance to attractions in and around Ferryland and accessible to many communities around the Irish Loop and East Coast Trail does not tell you everything about Dunne's B&B. Maxine and Charlie are genuine folks who welcome you to share their comfortable, clean and quiet place to rest your head. The breakfasts are hearty, the stories and company even better! They do their very best to accommodate requests and anticipate your needs. This is a wonderful place to stay.

Maxine and Charlie are wonderful hosts. Ask Maxine to sing some Newfoundland folk songs while Charlie plays the accordion. Double bed with ocean view. Lovely breakfast. Ferryland kept us busy for several hours and we didn't do/see it all.

The charm of hosts Maxine and Charlie make a stay here memorable and very comfortable. The B&B is immaculately clean; the breakfast is hearty. I stayed three nights and as I was on my own, I really appreciated Maxine and Charlie hanging out in the common area at night for a chat and lingering over breakfast to tell some great stories and share laughs. It seems there isn't a shortage of those!

The B&B is well located to take advantage of activities in the area - across the road from Colony of Avalon and Lighthouse Picnic - (do it!).

Rooms are nicely appointed if not overly spacious, again very clean and a comfortable bed. All look out over the water. I did notice that sound travels between rooms, so privacy isn't complete in that regard.

Would definitely recommend added this stop to your list if travelling in the area. Say hello to Maxine and Charlie for me!!

We had the most wonderful 3 days in the Ferryland area and one of the highlights was staying at Dunne's. Maxine and Charlie couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming hosts and we were treated royally. Our room was spotless and comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious and the conversation was lively. The jacuzzi was most appreciated after a six hour hike on part of the East Coast Trail and a bonus was a song at our last breakfast sung by Maxine on guitar accompanied by Charlie on the accordion. We'll be back!
