My cousin and I stayed at Celtic Rendezvous for six nights in a 2 bedroom cabin. We were enchanted as soon as we opened the door and saw the view from the two large picture windows. The cabin provided all of the amenities to do our own cooking and was immaculately clean and comfortable. A couple of minor concerns were dealt with efficiently. We were fortunate enough to see whales jumping out in the bay. It was perfectly located to take day trips to St. John's, Cape Spear and Petty Harbour. O'Brien's Boat tours in nearby Bay Bulls gave us up-close and entertaining encounters with whales and puffins. Ocean View Bakery is a couple of minutes away and Carmel bakes wonderful bread and desserts. We'd go there again anytime!

We stayed with family in June, 2013. We rented a hotel cabin (#12) and it had a great view of the bay. The room was clean and well equipped to cook for yourself. Considering it was the first weekend of summer, it was also pretty quiet!

The In-Laws rented the chalet and stayed with the rest of the family there. They had a different experience- the chalet was clean and well equipped (and big!), but the jacuzzi tub didn't work, the fireplace didn't work, the dishwasher didn't work. Disappointing and (especially the dishwasher) inconvenient when cooking for 12 people. The chalet did have a great view of the bay and surrounding area, and we saw whales all three days we were there.

All in all, I'd stay here again!

Room Tip: In the hotel part, cabins 11-16 have an ocean view.

Great stay here. Clean rooms, bright, lovely clean window to view whales. Stayed in cottage #4. Quiet and lots of room. Friendly service by staff. Lots of places to do day trips from. We went up the road and walked part of the Eastern Coast Trail and saw a lovely suspension bridge. Having my morning tea watching the odd whale and birds feeding on carpin. We stayed in June which can be cool but it was 20 degrees and sunny, so got some amazing photos. Great place for families as well, see some playgrounds, around.

The room was bland and clean. The view from our window was a weedy hill. We should have requested a room on the bay but when we arrived there was no one in the office. They put a note on the door and left the room open. The desk clerk was very helpful the next day when we asked about whale tours.
The breakfast was minimal.
By the way there is no longer an on site grocery or restaurant.

Although the cottage & ocean view was lovely, the cost of $160/night for a family of four was too much for the little amenities offered. There was no restaurant (although their website boasts of it), no convenience store & internet connection was not available at our cottage. The master bedroom was small & the small double bed was uncomfortable. There were no fire pits but we were told we could have a fire on the small beach. The downhill path to the beach was treacherous with a sudden drop at the bottom. There was a coffee maker on site but no coffee (we've stayed in "3 star" cottages that have provided coffee). The Provincial Traveller's guide has this business over-rated at 4 stars.
