From the moment we arrived, Madonna's very warm Newfoundland welcome made us feel at home; so too, the morning of our departure when Leo toured us around their fishing stage, sharing a bit of the rich history and traditions of Fogo Island and that of Newfoundland.
Madonna and Leo gave us use of their very comfortable and clean cabin looking out on the bay.(Their daughter, a talented artist, has sketchings, old photographs and paintings hanging on the walls.)
From this lovely spot it was a short trip down the road to visit other sites on the Island including: Zita Cobb's brand new Fogo Island Inn and artists' studios, a sunset walking trail at Joe Batts' Arm, The Irish settlement at Tilting, a historic cemetery and general store in Fogo village.
Yes, highly recommend a stay on Penton's Rd with Leo and Madonna.
