“loved it as usual, we'll be back again next year our 9th year staying here”
Reviewed 15 August 2011

had another fantastic holiday here this year, the site has everything you need for your holiday, peace and quiet, the pool is a must for childen, (we have 11 and usually take 5 with us each year, next year 7 will be coming with us) the laundry room is perfectly equipped for any normal holiday use, the games room is brilliant for keeping the kids amused as long as you keep a few 50p pieces handy for the pool table and take the time and effort to borrow games from the reception, we usually drive up overnight, leaving home in Shropshire at Midnight on Friday and arriving in Dingwall at 6.00 am, we usually arrive att he lodges late morning and the staff make a real effort to try and get us in our lodges as early as possible, being self catering we use the Tesco online ordering facility and have our groceries delivered on the afternoon of our arrival, the nearest Tesco is in Dingwall, the staff are great and their drivers are brilliant, if we need anything locally we pop into Kiltarlity to the local shop (less than a mile away so only a return trip of 2 miles, or to Beauly about 4 miles away, a return trip of 8 miles) we have always found our lodges clean, the staff friendly and helpful to the extreme even putting themselves out when we were once late arriving, we have stayed here every year for the past 8 years except last year which was missed as we were moving house, the children who have been with us absolutely love the place, the pool is great and the feeling of safety cannot be beaten, our children range in age from 12 to 34 and the youngest have been staying with us since they were 4, the parting shot this year was being asked by the kids to re-book immediately for next year when we will be joined by two of our older childen and their families, we go on holiday to have a relaxing stay and explore the surrounding area, you couldnt wish for a better place to do this, the facilities are everything you need, we would really really struggle to say anything negative about our stays but then we go on holiday to enjoy ourselves and have a good time, something which we can be assured of doing when we stay at the Lodges, as for the weather, its always been brilliant, (remember its only your clothes that get wet your skin is waterproof) WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR

I stayed here with two friends, for a long weekend in the Highlands. Although the other reviews here made it sound a bit hit or miss, we'd left it late for booking, and Kiltarlity Lodges had a lodge available at a decent price, so we went for it.

I have to say, we were pleasantly suprised on arrival - although it's a wee drive out of Inverness, the lodges are in a really pretty place, and we loved the feeling of having escaped to the countryside. The lady at reception gave us all the info we needed, and showed us to our lodge. It was perfect for the three of us, in fact a bit bigger than we'd expected. Everything was clean and even if not brand new, in good condition, and we loved the flowers on the veranda!

The reception had loads of leaflets for things to do in the area, and the manager had some suggestions too, so we had a great three days sight seeing. We didn't spend much time at the lodges, but it was lovely to come 'home' in the evenings, make dinner (or get takeaway!) and chill out - apart from the night we went out in Inverness!

We checked out the swimming pool, although we didn't use it as we didn't have swimming stuff with us. We did try a game of pool in the games room, again, the stuff in there isn't brand new, but it was fine.

We'd definitely come back for another girls' weekend.

Unfortunately i have had to stay here on a couple of occasions, not through choice! I have stayed in winter and summer, both times equally bad, although, summertime was slightly more bearable. They stink of damp, the bed sheets feel damp they are that cold, we had to use quilts to keep us warm during the day if we were in the lodges as the heating is so useless its pointless and its eats your credit, £10 does not go far. Im sure they have their tarrifs set above the going rate... The beds smell of damp, the furniture is extremely uncomfortable and the tv with its non-working freeview is so small you need glasses to watch it. These are essentually very thin wooden walled huts without any insulation at all. The woman in reception is very unaccomadating and never there and i hope you like to keep your kids inside, cause she dont like children either, should there be any breakages, trust me you will pay for it!!! Which is a bit of a cheek really given the unkemp state of the place and grounds in general, you are being robbed. Someone refererred to it in an earlier review as 'faulty towers', their being much too kind about the place. How Hoseseasons can be associated with this place is beyond belief...

Potential renter BEWARE!!!

We had a great holiday here. Park is in a lovely woodland setting and a good base to explore Inverness and surrounding area. The lodges have everything you need for your stay and were spotlessly clean on arrival- flowers on table nice touch too. Swimming pool was a great hit with my children and we often had it to ourselves as never busy. Washing machines handy and used pool table and table tennis in games room.

We stupidly booked a lodge, then read the reveiws, so we were a wee bit apprehensive to say the least.
We spent a week at Kiltatlity lodges having come up for a family wedding. Our lodge was well equipted, nicely furnished and above all very clean (no doggy smells)
It is a quiet, site with trees and beautiful scenery, and you might well be disappointed if you went expecting a club house and entertainment.
We had a really nice and reasonably inexpensive meal at Brockies, about a mile down the road.
Booking direct is about £100 cheaper for the week than going through Hoseasons.

We flew from Kent to Edinburgh and drove up to Kiltarity Lodges stopping overnight on the way. To say our arrival at the lodge was an anti climax is an understatement. We actually drove in and turned straight back out, as we could not believe that this was a holiday camp approved by Hoseseasons. After driving up and down the road desperately seeking another "Kiltarity Lodge" we reluctantly returned to what we nick named the "Refugee Camp". The site was very uninviting; 3 big dogs tied outside one of the sheds (they call them lodges) with rope, unkept grounds with weeds everywhere we looked, dilapidated rotary lines and a dark dingy untidy, unattended reception. This was not what we was hoping for....

The woman showed us to our shed, which left my children in tears. It was reasonably clean and 40 years ago would have probably have been quite acceptable but the furniture was far from comfortable, watching our 14” portable tv was unbearable and lead to many an early night.

Facilities on the site were appalling.
Games room; forget it just as someone else described with musty smells and lack of any games to speak of I can only recall a snooker table and some books.
The tennis court was very badly kept, actually I wouldn't describe it as kept at all more like abandoned.
Swimming pool was clean enough and would have been fine if it was just for us but once the other guests got in there it soon became over crowded and as mentioned before outside the boarded up caravan was an eyesore, the place was just a mess.
Reception is hardly ever open although when I rung Hoseasons and complained about the place I was assured that there was someone on site 24 hours a day!? Where I do not know.
Public phone did not work, although was fixed within a day after complaining. This was only an issue because we could not get mobile reception onsite.
Laundry room, my own utility room has better facilities.

No shop onsite so despite being self-catering you will have to drive about a 16 mile round trip to get some shopping or take away.

There is more, although it was a while ago that we went so just to sum up it was awful, the worst place we have ever stayed and despite Scotland being a wonderful place to visit this place really was a grey cloud over the holiday. Hoseasons gave us £100 worth of vouchers towards our next holiday with them. Obviously we weren't as good at complaining as the people that got a full refund.

Intending to arrive at 9pm we checked with Hoseason who said this was not a problem. Arriving we found the reception closed, fair enough the Lodge was open with a welcome note, key and instruction that they had put a £10 credit on the prepayment meter. Sadly they had not and there was no emergency power. Being one used to roughing it we set up lighting we had brought being used to Scottish Hospitality. Unfortunately the heating was also electric. I decided to ring the number on the welcome note for any problems only to hear it ring in the closed reception. We went to bed and I spoke with the woman in reception the next morning who was not the slightest bit fussed and said they did not operate an out of hours service despite what it suggested on the welcome note. She did however give us a free card for £10 electric. We used the pool but it does seem an environment for breeding organisms. The disturbing line of scum reminded me of far off childrens bath nights. I see in other reviews there is mention of lodges smelling of dogs. Ours did not but the two opposite were being used by shooters who each had two dogs and were obvioulsy having a successful trip if the 12 ducks hanging from the decking was any measure. The camouflage clothes and constant gun cleaning smacked of the deep south. I have still to identify the apparent need for camouflage car seat covers. The pitch and put is a variated form of crazy golf though probably not meant to be. We usually go to Cannich Caravan site and I think we will return there.
