I and some friends visited the restaurant on Friday July 11th 2014. We were made very welcome, the service was friendly and quick and the food was excellent. A bit of a portion warning though - leave plenty of room - the portions are generous!! We will certainly be back.

Just back from a wedding venue at this hotel..can say it was one of the best meals I have had at a wedding ..the staff were 5 star and obviously have chefs that are the same..give 5 star for hospitality ..children were delighted with bouncy castle ..would truly recommend this hotel for food..and a wedding ..set in a lovely location in the highlands ..

Very slow service, poor food - seemed frozen and warmed up. Poor value for money. Uninterested staff. Dingy, dated interior much in need of a revamp. Noisy public bar next door to the restaurant spoilt any atmosphere there may have been. Won't be going back in a hurry!

Stayed here years ago....friendly staff..However room was tired and noisey from kitchen. No excuse for poor maintenance ie tile grout, missing toilet lid and refuse in the bin from previous guest...get rid of the fridge in the room...bottle of water and milk jug good touch but taking up space...wee tip for the restaurant. ...check back to diners within at least 10 mins is a must....

After being informed that premises were under new management we decided to call in for our Sunday Lunch expecting an update on both furnishings and menu however we could see no changes in anything. Furniture tired, dated and stained carpets and harassed staff even though it wasn't that busy. Our waitress in particular showed little interest, seemed lethargic and didn't interact with any of us, her manner was not rude, more abrupt and disinterested.

The food was OK but certainly plenty of room for improvement. Complimentary bread rolls were warm when they arrived at the table but within minutes were inedible as they'd been microwaved prior to being brought out to us. My Partner and I ordered the Venison Steaks but we weren't asked how we'd like them cooked. As it was they arrived med-well done and we both prefer very pink. Chips were frozen as opposed to hand cut and the veg was mediocre.

No-one kept an eye on our drinks so consequently we had to either try and grab a passing waitress or go up to the Bar ourselves.

I wouldn't hurry to go back but would hope that the new management would take note and smarten this place up a little as it is long overdue.

Having eaten here a few weeks ago, I was really looking forward to a return visit and, in fact, had decided I would have exactly the same food as I had previously (haggis starter and haddock for main), as it was so good.

What a disappointment! We were seated at 7:30pm, the time booked, and our order was not taken till after 8pm, (when we called one of the waiting staff over). I'll only comment on my own food. The haggis with 'neeps and tatties' this time consisted of a small portion of dried-up haggis, accompanied by a mix-mash of carrots and a little turnip, along with the potato and, unlike the delicious sauce last time, it had a very sweet sauce (possibly honey and mustard?) poured over it.

The haddock was just 'ok' - not a patch on the previous visit, and the batter was soft and mushy. This was accompanied by a huge portion of garden peas which almost filled half of the plate!

The final straw was when a very noisy lady appeared from what appeared to be a private function in another part of the hotel and got louder and louder whilst standing at the serving area of the bar. Some of her language was not conducive to a pleasant atmosphere and, in fact another couple who were dining complained and asked if the person could not be asked to go through the glass doors into the bar to continue her conversation, but the waitress said there was nothing that could be done!

Maybe it was just an 'off' night , but management and kitchen need to pull their socks up to warrant return visits!
