Situated in the old hill town, this hotel was a bit tricky to find from map and GPS so we called them from the square and Massimo arrived in a moment, helped us to find the car park ajd he and his delightful and informative wife Leyla took us personally to the hotel, up and down winding passageways, but only moments form the car. The hotel itself was delightful and highly unusual, with fabulous views from the rooms and terrace across the sea and coastline. Personal service was always present and the restaurant they recommended was excellent. Very comfortable and very clean room (I am very fussy!). Unfortunately it rained heavily overnight and in the morning (October) so breakfast on the terrace was not possible. Instead we were a little squashed into a tiny breakfast room, but the simple cold breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We had the junior suite which gave us a reasonably sized room but not that big. Not sure if other ro...

Have just returned from a fabulous week staying in the Topazio apartment that belongs to The Marulivo hotel. Words can't describe what an amazing place it is. Massimo and Lea are perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel as if we were the most important guests and were always happy to talk and advise about this magical village. The restaurants they recommended didn't disappoint either. The breakfasts and evening drinks on the terrace overlooking the sea again were lovely. We cannot recommend this place highly enough, a perfect place to relax and unwind. We are definitely going back next year. :)

Me and my partner stayed at Marulivo for 5 days - 2 in one of the appartments (Topazio) and 3 nights in the hotel.

We absolutely loved it - Massimo and Lea where brilliant hosts and the hotel has a real relaxed feel. The rooms are simple but beatiful and the views are spectacular. Enjoying (amazing) breakfasts looking over the sea and watching stunning sunsets in the evening with a glass of wine is increadible.

Pisciotta is a really beautful place and has a great selection of little resturants. The Pizzeria in the square (almost entirely populated by locals) was the best I tasted in Italy (only open weekends) but all the resturants are amazing.

If we go back, and I expect we will, I think I would go back to the appartment as it is slightly more priviate and has a kitchen, but this is a hotel that will stay long in the memory.

in short - loved it will be back

We have somewhat mixed feelings about Petra Cottage for only after we arrive are we told that if we use the AC in the bedroom we will have to pay for it! This is quite shocking considering that it was our understanding that this was already included in the price we had agreed to pay. In the end we are not charged for this but the fact that this was threatened as a possibility was somewhat alarming especially given the hot days of August.

The cottage has a nice view of the sea but is about seven KM from the sea so one needs a car to drive there. Close by are a number of restaurants, our favourite being Per Bacco – a real treat. The hotel director is helpful in providing us with many suggestions on where to visit and dine, which is helpful. She even helps us find a ceramic company, which was a real treat as they allowed us to make our own ceramic plates 

Both showers need to be fixed though as both leave large deposits of water on the floor and if you keep the windows closed to avoid the mosquitoes coming in then you will too find that the cottage becomes stuffy and damp. It would be wonderful if the windows had screens so that we could keep them open and enjoy the fresh air. This would also help reduce our need of AC while also allowing the bathroom floors to dry of the excess water that spills on the floors from improperly sealed glass shower doors.

The steep stairs from the street level parking to the cottage may be an issue for some but we find that they are quite good exercise and our legs are soon more adept and scooting up and down them as the days progress. I sincerely think that if the owners were to install screens on the windows and fix the shower doors that the cottage would be far more comfortable than it is now and would be much more fun to stay at. Hopefully these changes will be made soon. If you found this review helpful then please indicate so by clicking the appropriate link. Thank you and happy travels.

Pisciotta is the village in Italy where everyone in my hometown of Amsterdam, New York immigrated to in the early 1900's. So to say to visit Pisciotta was a life-long dream would be an understatement. I booked the Maulivo strictly by reviews from others who have visited and was not disappointed in the least bit. We arrived with certainly more luggage than we needed while traveling Italy and faced steps up to this magnificent hotel. Lea and Massimo from the moment of our meeting were the perfect hosts - hauling our luggage, showing us our magnificent room overlooking the sea .... within an hour of our arriving and my explaining I had come to try and meet family, Massimo had found people in the city center who knew my family who then introduced me to cousins whom I had never met. Marulivo is truly a magical place; sitting on the terrace eating breakfast in the morning, and drinking a night cap each evening. The views are beyond stunning and two nights was way too short a time to spend in this fantasy place. Lea and Massimo once again thank you for your kind and generous spirit and hospitality beyond anything we have ever experienced.

We arrived late in the evening after a long drive from Naples, feeling a bit jaded. However, 30 minutes later we were sitting on the terrace of a nearby restaurant with a bottle of red wine and a plate of seafood pasta and feeling entirely different. The welcome at Marulivo is second to none. Massimo met us, found a carparking space (busy Saturday night in Pisciotta) and took us to the restaurant. The rest of our stay was even better. Lea and Massimo (the owners) take enormous trouble to make you feel at home and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Drinks on the roof terrace watching the sun set over the Mediterranean (how can it be so blue?); breakfast there too whilst it's still shady; delightful and individual bedrooms overlooking the sea, each stylishly decorated; really good bathrooms, nice towels and bedlinen Lea and Massimo are also experts on the local area so can tell you the nicest beaches and restaurants and what to do if you want to go further afield.
It just couldn't be nicer. A very special place!

Room Tip: Just talk it through with the owners. All that we saw were lovely.

Marulivo is unique in its design, seaview and more than friendly service. Besides, owner Lea is an encyclopedia on Palinuro's places to visit and more than willing to share her knowlegde with her guests.
