“A piece of paradise”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We were attracted to Pisciotta by reviews of the Marulivo Hotel. The town is a quiet little hilltown that appears to have resisted the negatives of modern times, especially tourist tat. It offers excellent dining at several restaurants of varying formality and price ranges. But the gem is the Marulivo. The hotel is magnificent, truly a piece of paradise. The site is stunning, overlooking town, hillside, the sea and marina. Even more wonderful is the oasis created by Lea and Massimo: comfortable rooms, the terrace, charming hospitality and a sense of being in a home- welcome to chatter with other guests, share experiences and mingle over drinks in the evening or equally welcome to hide away on one of the terraces, reading or just being, surround by flowers, birds and the amazing views.
We could not recommend the Marulivo more highly and hope to return.

Room Tip: We had a sea view room, with double doors opening onto the view. Highly commended!

This is a very special hotel. It is in a small town on the dramatic coastline of the Cilento, in southern Campania. The rooms are modern, very clean, and decorated with fine taste. The breakfast is ample and of quality. The focal point is a terrace with a spectacular view over the blue Mediterranean. You could well sit here entranced for days, at total peace in the furnishings of the terrace, the surrounding building, and the sea coast. But there is much more. The greatest value of your stay here comes from the owners, a young couple named Lea and Massimo. They are warm, bright and inviting. They put you at your ease at once, and are available at all times for any advice and help you may need, though your privacy is respected. The food of this region is of the first order, and the owners are a rich resource in steering you to it. We looked for a 3 day stay, extended it to 5 days, and left then only with the greatest regret. It will be a major disappointment if we do not find a way to return sometime soon.

My husband and I stayed three nights at Marulivo Hotel in late September, 2013 and it was as magical a place as I imagined after looking at photos and reading reviews. The hotel is a multi-level renovated monastery with stunning views and peaceful quiet. All stone, plaster, iron, wood, soft colors, and quiet elegance. Very beautifully done. Spotless everywhere is an understatement. Our Superior room included a comfy large bed (we are 6’+ tall and had plenty of space) with bedside tables and good reading lights, a small desk with chair, an armoire with a safe and sufficient space for two suitcases. The bathroom was spacious and included a wonderful rainshower with excellent water pressure. Air conditioning was good (although in late September not really necessary.) The view from the room, through the antique double-doorway to the Juliet balcony, out over the sea in the distance, was idyllic. Breakfast was picture-perfect with beautiful breads, jams, fruits, eggs, fabulous yogurt parfaits, meats/cheeses and caffe to order all served on the gorgeous terrace featured on the hotel’s website. The best element of Marulivo, however, is the duo of Lea and Massimo. The hotel exudes a calm elegance and it is due to these two wonderfully attentive yet unobstrusive hosts. Prior to arrival we received an email notifying us of an easy detour due to closure of the coast road. Massimo served drinks on the terrace in the evening and engaged in pleasant light conversation. When we set out on a day-trip to see the Palinuro coast and caves by boat we did not know the boat owner would be looking for us because Lea called ahead to let him know we’d be there that day. When I inadvertently left my cell phone behind after check-out Lea and Massimo offered to meet us halfway and when that did not work out they arranged for a courier to meet us the next day. Pisciotta is a very old, very small village with the old part being very picturesque and Marulivo perched on the edge watching out over the sea. It is an island of calm and comfort.

Note: Marulivo Hotel is in the hilltop village of Pisciotta rather than in the sea-adjacent village of Marina di Pisciotta.

Spent 4 nights in Pisciotta at the Marulivo. Rooms are very nice. The patio and it's view are great. Lea and Massimo couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Lea even went to the city hall to translate my requests for information on my family.
If you go to Pisciotta - stay at the Marulivo.

Situated in the old hill town, this hotel was a bit tricky to find from map and GPS so we called them from the square and Massimo arrived in a moment, helped us to find the car park ajd he and his delightful and informative wife Leyla took us personally to the hotel, up and down winding passageways, but only moments form the car. The hotel itself was delightful and highly unusual, with fabulous views from the rooms and terrace across the sea and coastline. Personal service was always present and the restaurant they recommended was excellent. Very comfortable and very clean room (I am very fussy!). Unfortunately it rained heavily overnight and in the morning (October) so breakfast on the terrace was not possible. Instead we were a little squashed into a tiny breakfast room, but the simple cold breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We had the junior suite which gave us a reasonably sized room but not that big. Not sure if other ro...

Have just returned from a fabulous week staying in the Topazio apartment that belongs to The Marulivo hotel. Words can't describe what an amazing place it is. Massimo and Lea are perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel as if we were the most important guests and were always happy to talk and advise about this magical village. The restaurants they recommended didn't disappoint either. The breakfasts and evening drinks on the terrace overlooking the sea again were lovely. We cannot recommend this place highly enough, a perfect place to relax and unwind. We are definitely going back next year. :)

Me and my partner stayed at Marulivo for 5 days - 2 in one of the appartments (Topazio) and 3 nights in the hotel.

We absolutely loved it - Massimo and Lea where brilliant hosts and the hotel has a real relaxed feel. The rooms are simple but beatiful and the views are spectacular. Enjoying (amazing) breakfasts looking over the sea and watching stunning sunsets in the evening with a glass of wine is increadible.

Pisciotta is a really beautful place and has a great selection of little resturants. The Pizzeria in the square (almost entirely populated by locals) was the best I tasted in Italy (only open weekends) but all the resturants are amazing.

If we go back, and I expect we will, I think I would go back to the appartment as it is slightly more priviate and has a kitchen, but this is a hotel that will stay long in the memory.

in short - loved it will be back
