“Lovely accommodation in great location”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

We stayed overnight here while walking the Queen Charlotte sound, our room was upgraded to a beautiful studio with views of the sound and mountains behind. It was clean and spacious and it was so nice to relax in comfort after the days walk. The Lodge has a lovely feel to it with a great veranda and lovely green grass to the waters edge. BYO wine if you can.

We stayed one night at Furneaux Lodge while walking the Queen Charlotte Sound Track. Our chalet faced the sound and we enjoyed sitting on the verandah in the warm sun after walking all day. The bar service and food was wonderful but watch those pesky sand flies at dusk.

My husband and me stayed here for one night, the chalet was a little bit old and maybe needs a restauration but it was well cleaned and comfortable. The dinner in the restaurant was perfect and the staff was very nice, friendly and funny. All in one a nice place to stay.

We stayed in the new Endeavour suites and didn't encounter some of the maintenance issues that others have noted in the chalets. It was well-maintained and generally clean, apart from the bathroom window and window sill. Some design choices are odd: for example, the outside sitting area is sunken behind a berm and therefore full of sandflies, and the spartan living space doesn't have a good reading light. We were comfortable in the space, but I expected more for the price.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Meals in the dining room were tasty and good, but not out-standing.
The one-hour walk to the "waterfalls" was poorly marked and poorly maintained. Don't go without proper footwear. We found the water taxi system worked very well.

Lovely comfortable, clean chalets that sleep five in two bedrooms. They have a small kitchenette also. Lovely sitting on the deck in the afternoon sun. Restaurant served lovely evening meals and the service was very friendly and prompt. Would recommend to anyone walking the Queen Charlotte Track.

We tramped into Furneaux from Ship Cove and loved swimming off the pier before tucking into fantastic meals of chicken burgers and lamb rump, both were divine.
The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and service conscious.
We caught a water taxi on to Punga Cove.

Stayed here for 2 nights to sample the Marlborough Sounds as part of a 4 week holiday in NZ. Very good location on the Queen Charlotte Track - we were able to get a water taxi across to Punga Cove and then walk back to the lodge in just over 3 hours, which was a perfect taste of the track for us.
Evening meals were very good too - pasta one night and market fish the next were both well done and tasty. Staff were generally friendly.
However, they do need to improve attention to detail and service. Our suite was reasonably clean except for a pile of cigarette butts on our deck, which we had to ask to get removed. A few repairs and sprucing up needed too - our shutters were broken, and the shower had cracked tiles and a bit of mould. We did get clean towels on day 2, but our bed wasn't made, which we thought was odd for a lodge of this price. The worst thing was on the day we left. When we arrived they used a buggy to take the cases to our room - quite a long way. We had told them that we were getting a water taxi at 8am, but when we left there was absolutely nobody about so we had to trundle/lug our cases along quite long gravel paths down to the jetty - took us about 10 mins! The water taxi guy was also annoyed as he had freight to drop off and was trying to raise them on the radio but they were all asleep! Not what you expect from a 4 star place.
