So after looking on baby friendly bolt holes for family friendly gites in france(not too far south) we came across Emerald Coast Gites. We have 3 children under 5 (one of which is under 1) so wanted somewhere that if possible could be relaxing for parents and fun for kids! This was certainly that.
We booked for may half term so the gites were all occupied with families. As it was half term most of the children were school age but there were some under 5s too which was good.
Most people get the ferry to st malo but we bravely decided to drive from Calais and actually it was not that bad!
We arrived to sunshine and the kids looked so excited to see an enormous trampoline and a LOT of ride on toys. That was it they were off!
Our gite was a 3 bed 1 bath and was equipped with all we needed for our baby so even though we had driven did not need a steriiser etc. There was tv with dvd and sky(but the kids never really watched it!) we had a semi private garden with table and bbq.
Once all families had unloaded their cars they were parked just next door in car park then the gates to the complex were shut until the end of the holiday so really the kids could roam without escaping! We always had an eye on them at all times but for the older ones it did mean you could relax knowing they were safe.
For the kids quite frankly they would have been happy to spend the entire holiday on site! the weather was not great for our stay with a fair bit of rain but there is a soft play area under cover for them to go to in the wet...also with a small bar area for parents to watch and read a book...you can also see it from all the gites so know they are safe!
There is a swimming pool but it was a bit cold so we only went in once as had 2 days of sunny weather! Most people went in more! We were a bit timid! It is a large pool with smaller baby pool and plenty of sun longers and cabanas...really lovely.
There a also chickens for the kids to look at and plenty of green space for running around.
There is a bar for the adults and i think a games room for older children.
One night of the week Lesley and Simon the oweners host a cheese and wine night which is great to have a chat with the other parents and the baby monitors work from the gives as it is literally 5 yards away so you feel secure.
The gite is well situated not too far from Dinan and St malo and lots of lovely beaches so rain or shine there is no getting bored.
If you cant be bothered to cook there are always frozen home cooked kids meals in the freezer or lesley does a plat du jour a few nights of the stay which we had and were delicious!
Anyway as far as a holiday with 3 kids go i cant really see how it could have been any better...in fact the day after we got back i rebooked for next year! If the kids are happy we are happy!
If you want an authentic french gite experience where kids can play from dawn til dusk and you can get some rest..(well sort of!) then this is perfect.
