“Great beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

Great sandy beach where the D Day started. Nice place to stay, if weather is good mainly to imagine what happened that morning 70 years ago. Also good location to explain a piece of history to your children

“A great sandy beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

Omaha beach is best known for the D Day landings in WW2. What it is good for today is a great stretch (6km) of sand. There is not much uncovered at high tide but wait an hour or two and it gets uncovered. Whilst waiting you can always get something to eat or visit a D Day site.

“Beautiful sculpture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

There are boards with photos of soldiers and their stories of D-Day, extremely moving. The sculpture on the beach I felt was very fitting and also moving.

“The Rodney”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

One of the beaches that the Americans took with the ad of the British Navy, one of the Ships was the HMS Rodney, on which my own Granddad served. Apart from that, it is a great beach to take the children to play and tell them the history

“If You Love Freedom, You Must Visit Omaha Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

As a history major and a viewer of many WWII films, I thought I knew the D-Day story. While I realize that I might have had the basics down correctly, no books or movies could have communicated the size of the task confronting the allied soldiers. Everyone should visit the beaches. The vast amount of beach/sand/tidal water that had to be traversed is intimidating. Even without the steel obstructions littering the beach, it is a miracle that the troops were able to make it ashore.
