Being here completes the wonderment of what occurred 70 years ago. The difficulty of landing on this beach and fighting to gain a foothold on such a fortified piece of ground is mind-boggling. It makes one wonder just how these brave soldiers got the job done. We know the outcome of their efforts..............being here gives the story a whole new level of respect for all that they did.

“Emotional”

It was a privilege to have been able to visit Omaha Beach and pay our respects on this 70th anniversary of the D Day landings. A well kept place which has a sense of respect for what happened here. Well worth visiting to remember the bravery of those who took part in that campaign

“A must do.”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

Omaha beach is a very solem place to visit when you look out and think that 70 years ago men we either dead or dying on the sand represented by the sculpture.
The area is a must and will require more than a day to visit, the walks alone take some time and keep an eye out for the odd bullet hole.

“Historical Omaha Beach”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

It was an odd feeling to look at this pretty, serene stretch of beach and imagine what hell it must have been on June 6th, 70 years ago. It struck me as strange that people would be on the beach strolling and sunbathing - almost sacreligious. Yet that is what all those men died for - so people could do just that. The Omaha Beach Memorial and the Les Braves sculpture were very different but fitting ways to honor the sacrifice that occurred on D-Day. We watched all the D-Day specials this year and were well educated about what took place on that day and the days to follow. My freedom was paid for with the blood of the young men who died here. Make this landmark and the American Cemetery and Memorial above the beach a priority if you are anywhere near Normandy.

We stopped here for a quick visit on the way to Brittany and so didn't see very much. What we did see was amazing from a historical point of view. We were on motorbikes but there was free parking for the cars as well. It would be best to spen the whole day here.
