“I loved this place”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

I was dumbfounded when we first entered the room, I could not believe my eyes, the room was perfect. The private deck and the view were the best. The even better part was to wake up to the waves sound. I want to go back there so bad.

For less money than a decent hotel room in town, we stayed in a clean, new, well-furnished, two bedroom accommodation at the Clipper Shipp just steps from the Bay of Fundy. Included were complete kitchen facilities and satellite television. Our kids, 13 and 11, enjoyed playing on the Fundy beach right out in front of the room and tracking the coming and going of the ocean tide. The location is great -- only half an hour from St. Andrews, from where we went on a great whale watch. From our two-week vacation through Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic Provinces, of all of our stays (mostly chain hotels and university accommodations), our stay at the Clipper Shipp was the most special and memorable. The owner told me that the motel is less busy these days since the new Highway 1 went in a couple of years ago, bypassing his establishment which is on what used to be Highway 1. The place is a real gem.

We were there recently for three nights; absolutely wonderful place to stay! I cannot say enough good things about it. We stayed in the newly renovated section and it is by far the best place we have stayed in by the ocean. Huge balcony facing the water with room for lots of chairs (there were 9 on our balcony), a table and a huge gas BBQ grill. The furniture is what you would expect in higher end places. Dark, wooden sleigh beds with very comfortable mattresses; huge leather recliner with matching sofa that reclined on both ends. Also had heavy dark wood dining table and chairs, flat screen TV on wall, fully outfitted galley type kitchen with full sized range, refrigerator, microwave; also has toaster, coffee maker, wooden cutting board and lots of different kitchen tools and cutlery plus cookware. The kitchen counters looked like granite as well as the lavatory surround. The bathroom was large with a nice tub/shower and a low table to keep toiletries on. One thing I would suggest is grab bars; the tub surface is a bit slippery and there is only a small plastic bar to hang onto, making it a bit scary for people with balance problems. Another plus would be a night light; they are inexpensive and older people like us look for things like that (plus those grab bars in the shower). We had Wi-Fi but no phones and no air conditioning. Unless it is really hot, you really don't need the A/C because the water is right in front of your suite and the ocean breezes will keep you cool. You can sit at the table and watch out over the water through the sliding glass doors. Well lit at night outside helps if you go somewhere after dark. Beautiful flowers had just been planted around our entrance and we had parking close to our room. The suite was very clean and the cleaning ladies were very polite and provided what you needed. The owner was on site and very accommodating as well.
We cannot say enough good things about this place. Don't let the outside sign fool you into thinking it is just another place; it is one of the best and we cannot wait to go back next year for a week. Fabulous view of the Bay of Fundy and if you are able, there are stairs going down to the beach and a deck just above that.
The main bed was queen size plus we had a separate bedroom also with a queen size bed, dresser and mirror.
Make sure you bring your own food or you can eat at a couple of local restaurants or grab something at a convenience store nearby.

Room Tip: Room 51 in the newer section is beautiful!

clean and owner is updating and renovating. incredible location right on the water and it was fun to watch the tides and walk on the beach. our room did not have WiFi but did have an ethernet cable. i would have loved to take my laptop outside on the deck but couldn't as i was tethered. we were in a small queen room and it was tight.

We found the Clipper Shipp by accident on our way up the coast of New Brunswick. We appreciated the comfortable beds, the cleanliness of the room, the full-size fridge & stove, microwave, coffee-maker, tea kettle, toaster, dishes & cutlery, TV & wifi. Every room has a wonderful view of the Bay of Fundy. All rooms also have good-sized decks with gas bar-b-ques & patio chairs.
The rooms can be rented daily, weekly or monthly. Although we only stayed one night this time, we'd like to come back again for a week or so.
The only thing we would need to remember before a return trip is that it is a little way to any grocery store so we would bring groceries & supplies from home or a near-by town.

We recently attended a family wedding nearby and many family members stayed at the Clipper Shipp in various rooms. The motel itself is right on the Bay of Fundy, and all the rooms face the water. Each room has a sizeable balcony complete with comfortable chairs and a gas BBQ/grill.

We stayed in a room in the new wing which was completed last fall. The room was large, with two queen beds- one of which has its own bedroom. There was reclining lazy boy type sofa and chairs, dining room table chairs, full kitchen, full bathroom. The dining room overlooked the sliding glass doors to the balcony which overlooks the water.

The motel used to be on a busy highways, but traffic has since moved to a new nearby four lane, so there is no traffic noise.

The owners were very accommodating to our large group, and they very helpful cleaning staff.

I'm trying to think of any negatives and there really isn't. It needs some landscaping around the new wing- to be expected, and food stores are a bit of a distance. Plan your grocery trip to St George or Saint John ahead of time.

All in all a great experience in a quiet clean modern motel with amazing views.

Room Tip: Try the new wing, room numbers in the 50's.

This is a great place if you want to look after yourself - full kitchen facilities, WiFi and nice TV with Lazyboy type seating. Most rooms have sleeping for 5 with one Queen in a separate room and I think every room has a large balcony with a great view.
