A party of 21 including 11 children booked for dinner for the restaurant. Extremely accommodating. We had pre ordered our food due to the size of our party, we also turned up with 3 additions to the numbers and added and changed a couple of kids meals. This was no bother at all to the staff.
Food was served quickly and we had a variety of dishes from the 2 course set menu.
Every one enjoyed their meals, food was superb and such an improvement from previous visits. Lovely presentation and good quality plus locally sourced.
The only thing that was mentioned a few times was portion size, but it's 2 courses for £12 with dessert as a £3 add on. It is value for money.
We had stopped using the hotel for food as it was so poor, but it seems the new owners have this covered and we will definitely return again soon.
Staff excellent and attentive.
Highly recommend!

This was our second visit to this hotel. The refit is lovely, our room was warm and very comfortable and stylish. The breakfast was superb, good quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. Kirsty the Manager could not have done more to make us welcome. Thank you, we look forward to returning later in the year. Its a great base for a beautiful part of Scotland.

After some good reports 4 of us made a visit to this restaurant and for dinner and what an experience - brilliant.
Although the menu choice isn't massive, 6 or 7 choices for each coarse - starters, main and sweet - the presentation and the quality is excellent.
We all had 3 coarses and believe it or not everyone picked something different on each coarse, everyone thought all the food was way above expectations - honestly is was all delicious in every way.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and know they won't be disappointed and if they keep this standard up it will be a very busy place.

Very disappointing night out. We had booked for a Christmas night out but when we got there we were told that we could not have the Festive Menu as it had to be pre booked. At no time were we told this - we checked the emails received regarding this booking and pre booking was not mentioned. We ordered from the hotel menu. Starters were okay but the prawns were bland - not what was described on the menu. When the main courses arrived, the chicken had to be sent back as they were all cold. The steaks were nice but lukewarm. One diner had her chips spilled all over her by the waiter. After the mains we waited for dessert but no-one came to take our order. We eventually asked for desserts but were told that we could not have any as the chef had gone home. It was 9.30. We were probably a bit later finishing our main courses than might have been expected but this was due to some of them having to be sent back. Most of the desserts on the menu were pre prepared - cheesecake etc. so don't see why another member of staff could not have served them but we were just told point blank no desserts, not even ice cream. When the bill came there was no reduction offered. Next day, the friend who had booked the meal emailed the hotel detailing our complaints. We did receive a fairly prompt response covering most of our points but none of these were addressed adequately in my opinion. The response claimed that the waitress had asked us if we required desserts but none of the eight of us can remember this. As compensation we were offered a £40 voucher - that's £5 a head for poor service and cold food. Do not think we will be back.
