Charm and character abound in both location and the hosts, Di and John. Much care and thought has gone into the design of this establishment and it is beautifully maintained but above all is Di's cuisine--the presentation and deliciousness rival the best restaurants. The location in one of the highest villages around allows for either total relaxation or nearness to some fabulous walks or trips into Ronda.

A peaceful place and a delightful stay for our family. We travelled through Andalucia with our two teenage boys and Ronda was our original destination. After overindulging on the sightseeing in Barcelona, Toledo, Seville and Cordoba, we needed a breather. Los Castanos was the perfect place to re-charge our batteries with colorful bedrooms, a comfortable lounge area and top-notch home cooking. Di has built a lovely, welcoming "inn" which feels comfortable and warm. Our teenage sons loved Los Castanos and felt instantly at home. Di is a marvelous cook and we opted to eat all our evening meals there. John was the perfect host and giver-of-advice and directions to local sites and the best eating places in Ronda. Double thumbs up and we look forward to coming back soonest.

We spent a wonderful few days at the delightful Hotel Los Castanos, conveniently located in a small village a 15 minute drive to Ronda, through dramatic escarpments and breathtaking views. The hotel is exquisitely decorated, with a welcoming 'home away from home' environment. Our room was quite large and very tastefully decorated. Di and John are very charming hosts. Di serves restaurant quality meals. John provided us with detailed maps of the area which made our exploratory walks along ancient tracks to nearby White Villages much easier to navigate. Their knowledge of the history of the area certainly enriched our experience and made this trip very memorable. We hope to return one day and highly recommend this charming hotel.

A very nice hotel. Di and John are friendly, helpful and charming. The general ambience was excellent, as was the service and the food. Lots of interesting art and artifacts. The public areas are a home from home. Except much smarter and more comfortable. Rooms are spacious, well appointed and very clean. There is a roof terrace with fine views out over the valleys and into the mountains, with the odd booted eagle or griffon vulture for company. The village is quiet and attractive with good walks easily available. Ronda is about 20 km away and an easy drive.

We stayed here for two nights in march and enjoyed every minute despite the unpredictable weather. This place affords the privacy of a hotel but also makes you feel like you are guests in someone's home. Di and John are very friendly and great hosts. We ate on both nights and the food was probably the best we had during our week in Andalucia. It was great not to have to go hunting for places to eat in the evening especially after a good few hours of walking. Overall a fantastic place to combine relaxing and some good walking.

I love the décor of this hotel where every single detail seem to have been carefully planned. My room was comfortable and spacious with wonderful views over the village of Cartajima.
I was travelling alone and wanted to treat myself and spend a quiet and relaxing time over Christmas. The hosts Di and John with their warmth and kindness were amazing and did everything to make me feel welcome and at home.
The food was exquisite and the wines from the region were carefully chosen by the hosts to match the food. I had an amazing experience and I couldn't be happier and more relaxed then. This little Christmas holiday treat at Los Castanos exceeded my expectations and I plan to return for more soon.

From the moment Di opened the door at Los Castenos and greeted us with warmth and English, we felt at home. Di had written ahead to ask if we would like her to cook for us that night and what a treat that was. My partner and I stayed five nights and were reluctant to leave after being looked after so well. Staying in this little white washed village, with the idea of walking and relaxing, was our downtime while travelling in Spain and we could not have chosen a more idyllic spot. Both Di and John are generous with their local knowledge and guidance. Our bedroom and bathroom were both spacious and the lounge is filled with wonderful books to enjoy over a glass of wine by the fire. Though Los Castenous is a hotel is feels way more like home.
