Stayed here for two nights and the service was very friendly and the food so so good, generous servings and a great range of dishes- my sister still talks about the homemade dressing on her Caesar Salad. It is conveniently colse ot main roads by far enough away to feel quiet. My only issue is that the beds were very hard, but have enough of the food and you won't care. Very happily stay here again

This little Gem still has a billiard table in the bar room, and there is a small intimate dining area out the back.
There was for some time a grumpy man who worked behind the bar, who just didnt sit in with the country pub theme, he seems to have dissapeared now and so its back to dining here for lunch, tea and sometimes the sunday roast.
One thing that delights me is home-made chips, and i am so pleased that if you order chips you dont get frozen and fried chips, but hand cut chips, there is a real difference!
Sunday dinner is fantastic and they are always more than happy to cater for vegetarians with an option or two available.
They serve their pub meals in a range of sizes, from cub to lion heart, for example sausage and one egg for a cub, 4 sausages and 4 eggs for a lion heart, and something inbetween, so you can have as much or as little as you please.
Just writing this review has made my decision about where i am going for sunday lunch this weekend.... thanks.

oh, and they have pet piggies, cute minature ones, if you like pigs, be sure to have a look! xx

Stayed at the Red Lion for one night as a solo business traveller. Very reasonably priced - with a reduction for single occupancy. Nice atmosphere in the very traditional lounge bar, and very tasty evening meal. The room itself (mine was on the ground floor - far enough away from the bar to be nice and quiet) was clean and welcoming with a great shower in the en-suite. A bonus was the free wi-fi. Breakfast the next morning was very good indeed. All in all, a very nice find which I would use again.

After enquiring at a nationally advertised travel hotel and being given a much more inflated price from the one on the billboard outside I travelled around and asked a few people, the Red Lion was suggested, am I glad because nothing was to much trouble, the room was spotless, the food was excellent and the hosts so helpfull and all for just over half the price of the first one that I visited, I would have no hesitation in using the Red Lion again and by the way I also had a family of rubber ducks in the bathroom. Well done what a standard. Brian from Spain.

Room Tip: All the rooms that I saw had nice outlooks

We stayed overnight. The Hospitality was first class as was the food in the restaurant. The pub has retained its character with a lounge bar serving bar snacks and also a games room with bar billiards etc. The B& B accommodation is in an extension to the side and overlooks a small beer garden. The rooms are a decent size with all the usual facilities and not being over the pub are quiet!
The food is all sourced locally, but beware of the portions, they are huge if yiou choose lion size!
Pinwall is very convenient but is in the middle of the countryside, so no lacal amenities.

We visited the Red Lion with friends. First we got a friendly welcome & they let us park our Harley's in the Beer garden. The rooms were very clean & the beds comfortable, a quirky extra was the family of rubber ducks in the bathroom!

The highlight of our stay was the food. The restaurant had a variety of dishes on the menu, all cooked on site -genuine home cooking. Some of the best I have had including the puyddings. Breakfast was so filling we all skipped lunch.

Friendly staff, great food, well kept beers. Good nights sleep in quiet surroundings. Well worth a visit.
