This hotel could not be described as luxurious, but it is clean, has a well stocked bar, a truly excellent juke box, some good food and warm welcoming bar/lounge. As a regular traveler to this area, I have stayed in this hotel on many occasions. It's normally around £80-£100 for a room for two people sharing. The rooms are all pretty much the same, but the last time I stayed I had a pleasant surprise and was allocated a 'family' room where we had a true double and a sofabed that would sleep two children comfortably. Bar food pretty decent and certainly wholesome, owners are very accommodating at dinner and breakfast too, nothing is any or too much bother. It's a friendly hotel that all adds to the experience for touring this part of Scotland.
The owner is a biker too, so when you turn up wet, cold & tired, he is very understanding and helpful about the need to dry off your leathers. The welcome and friendly relaxed atmosphere will have me returning again and again. It's also a handy stop over for visiting Eilean Donan Castle, Applecross and Wester Ross in general.
Must be one of the closest hotels to any railway station anywhere, which the train ride to this spot is also a must for those not travelling by their own means.

Room Tip: All rooms have an excellent view, but perhaps those facing Lochcarron will give the best impression...

We stayed here a year or so ago and would love to return. The location is perfect for hill walkers as it is next door to a train station and on the doorstep to some great walks.
We stayed 2 nights before traveling down to Fort William and i could not recommend highly enough. We had a lovely meal in the pub downstairs, the gammon steak was at lease 3 inches thick!
Simple and comfortable rooms.
Highly recommend.

Have stayed there twice now and each time have received a warm welcome. Food was very nice and the whole hotel was clean and well maintained.
Many thanks to Andrew for providing a couple of peat-bricquettes for fuel at the Ben Dronaig bothy (no need as Donny Mackenzie turned up with a bag of coal later that night!!).
Sorry to see you guys go. I hope your next challenge is as rewarding as this one. Cheers.

Had a great stay. All the staff are friendly and welcoming and make you feel more of a friend than a paying customer. The location is fantastic too whether you like mountains, the railway or the sound of rutting deer. All the food was tasty and the room comfortable and the wood fire comforting. Loved it there and can't wait to go back.

Stopped off on a cycle tour one day for coffee and scone and later that week on the return leg for a local beer and soup. All excellent fare. Real fire and modern decor too.
But what makes me want to review this ordinary looking place that I only visited for less than an hour is the really warm welcome and friendly chat. The smart young barman in his kilt gave me loads of useful information about the train service, where to cycle and go on Skye, etc which was really helpful for the next stage of my journey. Sorry I didn't get your name but they knew you when I called at the Gallic College cafe! (another well recommended wonderful find with super cake and coffee at give-away prices crying out for more business).
So don't be put off by a fairly bland exterior - it's the people, the welcome and the interior that matters.

Good food and bar. Very honest and friendly. Rooms are clean and well presented. Have used this hotel before and would still use again. I stopped for a meal and as they had a single room available decided to stop over for a night while touring on my motorcycle.

I had a very pleasant stay at this welcoming Highland outpost. Clean and comfortable room, excellent dinner and breakfast, and warm hospitality from the owners. Ideally placed if you are en route to/from Applecross or Torridon, I hope to be back next year in search of better climbing weather…
