“Ok hotel by the water”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

I visited the hotel on a businesstrip from thursday to friday with my clients. The room was nice, the service and the food was ok, but the best thing was the beautiful location by the water and the sunset at night.

The hotel is nice and the rooms are good. This review is more about the restaurant, we ate there when staying at the hotel. Since they had a wedding that day they (july12th) we had to sit out side which would have perfectly ok for us since it was a nice evening. What was totally unacceptable was the attitude of the waitress, it seems as if they had given her the job because she was a good looking blond girl, certainly not because she was good at her job. She did not know how to explain what was on the menu, she seemed sour about having to work, did not bring any bread to the table. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for the starters, and then another 40 minutes for the main meal. The portions were very uneven in size, most of them were on the smaller side, but one of the fish dishes "kungsflundra" was huge. We did not want to wait another 40 minutes for desserts, so we did not have any. When we wanted to pay, the waitress messed up the bill several times by adding dishes we had not had, and she had a hard time getting it corrected, it seemed as if she didn't really know how to use the billing machine properly. The food tasted really good and was well cooked, but the lousy service destroyed the impression. So if we stay at the hotel again we will definitely eat somewhere else.

Staying 2 nights. Great expectations have not been reached. Beautiful location. Shy welcoming. Small room, poor amenities. Noisy room door. After the first night, we left the room at 10.30 am, as we cane back at 4 pm, the room had not been cleaned ! (Dirt on the bottom of the shower door). Personel mostly students. Kind and some doing efforts, but not very professional. Excellent food though. Pitty that the staff could not follow the demand, maybe because the hotel was fully booked. Tables left full with dirty dishes as we were served with drinks! Recommended for the location. Don't expect perfect service.

We did not stay at the hotel but merely visited for lunch, which was excellent. We all ordered the fish choice from the "daily lunch" special. The fish was excellent, moist but thoroughly cooked, in a very appealing presentation. Service was very prompt, and the price was quite reasonable by Swedish standards. The setting overlooking the water is unbeatable. This place is well worth a detour!

What a disaster. It started out to look promising. Waitress tells me we only have one starter and one main course - so I think - yes this should be good and start my wait.
After about 30 minutes the starter arrives - it was OK but not worthy of any prizes.
Then I endured a one hour wait for the main course..... which was very bland.
In desperation I told the waitress - if it doesn't come in 5 minutes I'm walking out
Hake - which would take a few minutes to cook.
With mashed potato - even my grandkids can make mash potato!
And with the 2 smallest carrots I have ever seen, which were quite raw, and looked unwashed.
Total cost with one glass of wine SEK 555 = approx. GBP 54.00
On the way out I looked in the kitchen - no shortage of chefs there - so can someone say what were they doing?
I arrived at 18,15 and left at 19.56 - over 90 minutes for 2 courses - totally unacceptable !
I know I should have gone to Norra Hamnen 5, in Lysekil ..... I will next time !

Situated in a beautiful place with splendid view. The room was comfortable, yet cold. Cold stone floor in the bathroom. Very good beautifully served food. Competent staff. Several dining rooms of different size, that makes it possible to enjoy big as well as small company. However, another company had their party with loud live music until 00 in the same house as my room, and that was somewhat disturbing.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2012 via mobile

Location is beautiful, the view is fabulous, the small village is very picturesque. However it is a conference hotel, designed to take care of large groups for short stays.
Rooms are 'designed', the designer has almost certainly never stayed in the rooms. Rooms are small, bathrooms are (small) closets. Furniture is limited, probably to make the rooms look bigger. Books, cameras etc. can be stored on the floor or in the window sill. If you travel with 'hand luggage' only, you have a chance to unpack, if you bring a suitcase it is simply impossible. Some of the rooms have large windows facing balconies or terraces, this is nothing for the shy. If you don't like privacy the rooms are ideal, there is none.

Breakfast is included and generous, the quality of it is, unfortunately, not.

Staff is friendly and kind, but not very professional.
