Popped in on a busy Mother's Day and they were able to serve us and were welcoming even though they were really busy. Good food allergy/intolerance awareness, and the staff are willing to check with the cook if they are not 100% sure.

Decore is a little mid 1990's but it is clean and airy. They hold theme nights so if you are in the local area or visiting you might want to go to their website for further details. http://www.goodcompanionsrestaurant.co.uk/

Only one female toilet cubical which is also the disabled toilet and baby changing room but it is clean. Small lock on door which people with a hand disability or arthritis etc may have problems with.

Parking I could see in high season being a problem as there is limited space outside of the restaurant but there is an other car park further in the garden centre which can be used.

Husband was very impressed by the Cake.

The food here is locally sourced and of the best quality. Booking is best as it opens for 3 evenings only but every day for lunch including Sunday.
The only thing that spoils it is there is no atmosphere. There is background music but the restaurant is so big and is hardly ever packed out I think it should be set out as booths.

Came for an evening meal after hearing good reviews. The food and service were excellent , the only thing that let down our evening was the owner pestering us while we ate, which we thought was a bit rude. He was doing the same to all the customers while they were trying to eat ! We thought it was nice of him to acknowledge us , but not while we were eating. We will return when we are back up in cumbria and left in peace to eat the excellent food .

The owner runs a vast nursery behind the restaurant, so you can double up a visit for your garden and then enjoy a cuppa or a snack or a meal in the restaurant. Would like the plates to be warmed for the food - and would also like a bit more atmosphere in the restaurant - like a plant or two - but on the whole reasonably good quality and value.

We've been coming to Keith Singleton's nursery for several years but never been into the 'eatery' which I had always thought of as more of a coffee shop than what turns out to be quite a good restaurant.

As usual this was a visit to the nursery but as it was lunchtime we took advantage.

A well kept and clean interior with a very pleasant atmosphere and excellent mobility access.

The couple eating next to us volunteered to recommend pizza which they were tucking into which was what we ended up having as well.

Like coffee, I am particularly fussy when it comes to pizza. I particularly like the thin, crispy variety with a moist topping - not this cloned North American rubbish that's half base, half fat and virtually no topping! It was an exceptionally good choice. Unfortunately I had agreed to share a twelve inch but was offered an extra half off the final slice......

I didn't have coffee but was told it was good.

One Friday a month the restaurant puts on a themed dinner. Examples we were given were Mediterranean and Thai. Both sounded interesting and innovative like the whole set up at Singleton's. Definitely something to book up for when a visit to the western Lake District coincides.

If he 's available, get Keith Singleton to tell you about his pellet fuel stove in the restaurant and his ideas on reducing the carbon footprint at the nursery.
