“Beautiful Bali!!!!!”

It was our honeymoon and we stayed in a deluxe room which did not have a balcony or seaview but had a view of the pool...sort of! Yes parts of the hotel could do with some touching up and maintenance but, this did not spoil or hinder. Beautiful attentive and humble people with a ready smile, service was great, pool was fab. We did a lot of travelling outside of the resort and the drivers and guides were fantastic. In fact we encountered nothing on this visit that was negative. Staff at the Grand Aston Hotel we (Mr and Mrs Patterson) salute you....and look forward to seeing you all again in September.

Stayed 5 nights here in the middle of our Indonesia trip. Our garden view ground floor room was great, spacious, clean and close to pool and breakfast with easy access via porch to both.
Plenty of options at buffet breakfast but the menu was the same each day. Other restaurants in resort were reasonably priced, the local restaurants nearby were great value, a couple of nights we got takeaway as we had been out with busy touristy days.
Used the hotel spa special, chocolate scrub and body mask, was incredible, great massage, chocolate aroma to die for, flower petal bath and hot chocolate drink, finished off with chocolate lotion. Gym small but only one other person using the equipment while I was there, good view overlooking the pool.
Pool was clean with plenty of pool lounges, didn't have to be there early to get one. Swim up bar served great mocktails with very friendly staff. Only problem was the wind! Not something the hotel could avoid and kept the temperature down.
Cinta at front entrance was always smiling, helpful and remembered us each day and would ask what we were doing or how something was, very personal.
Did walking tour one morning with a staff member from kids club, sorry I can't remember his name but as I was the only one I felt I had 100% attention, he answered my many questions and was also interested in many aspects of Australian culture.
Some renovations were happening on our floor but was quiet and didn't interfere with our stay.
Would happily stay again.

We are a family of four and stayed in a deluxe room. The main positives to this hotel are the location and the spacious rooms. It is on the beach and to the front of the hotel there are a few restaurants and shops, the taxi service from the hotel is amazing, the drivers are super friendly and the cars very clean and a good price. The rooms are very spacious and we were comfortable with two roll away beds and a king bed.The hotel has three restaurants, the italian one is very good. The deluxe room we had was on the ground floor, which was perfect for us, it was spacious and opened onto a balcony and then a grassed area, which was very nice for kids to run around on. the spa prices were good and bali massage was nice. the Friday night Bali night was entertaining and the dancers were very good and friendly and really happy for photos afterwards.

On the down side I had read that the rooms had been renovated, they may have been painted but that was it. The toilet flooded they first time my daughter used it, after that it was impossible to flush, and even when flushed it seemed to give off an unpleasant smell. The air conditioning worked for a few days and then started rattling, the engineer came to 'fix' it which resulted in us not having any air-conditioning at all. After frequent visits from the engineers we put up with a fairly ineffectual air conditioner. There was a light on our balcony which you could not switch off which shined in the bedroom all night, in the end we asked for the bulb to be removed. The shower head was clogged with alkaline, and we gave it a good scrub, but still was difficult to wash, in the end I went to the spa as the showers there were much better. There was a retractable shower head combined with bath tap, but when we pulled it out to use, it smelled grotesque as it has had a pool of water sitting in the tube, it was also rusty. The most annoying thing was that the room key would work and then not work, I lost count of the times we had to change our key. The hotel said it was because I was keeping it next to a mobile phone, but my mobile stayed in my safe for the whole time I was there. Other than the rooms, the breakfast was average but did not change for the 8 days we were there, the same 3 cereals on offer for the whole time. The Bali Luna food looked good, but as we had vouchers we had to order from a different menu, and the food we had was not very nice. The happy hour was strange, buy 2 and get 1 free, but they all had to be the same drink. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the kids club and taxi drivers, but some were really not bothered at all. The hotel advertises, water aerobics, fruit carving and activities, which I only saw water aerobics happening once. There is still renovations happening, and at the moment it is on the top floor above the spa, which meant during one of the massages you can hear noise from the builders.

On balance we had a pleasant stay, the hotel does have a lot to offer, and with a bit of attention to the maintenance and staff it would have resulted in a better review.

We were booked into a Room which we were not Happy with & the Manager Mr Ian Cameron kindly moved us into another room unknown to us a Suite. It was just amazing. We could have lived there we felt like a king and queen. We over looked the Pool & views to the Ocean it was just wonderful. We had 8 nights in the suite & loved every minute of it.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a Deluxe Ocean Room.

Stay 3 nights in the hotel, beach is good and nice. Breakfast is average, but do have good restaurants around the area, the property really need some renovation, our room light shades was moldy and really need replacement.

Check in was easy and friendly. We requested a certain room number because of the close proximity to the pool and we got this which was fabulous. Room clean and tidy . For our family we found location fine with many eating choices around outside of hotel as poolside food quite ordinary. Minimarts and spa across road which is always handy.

Pool area great nice and open with plenty of lounges on beach or near pool. Pool furniture abit ratty with age/ weather and marked.
Grounds are well maintained

Restaurants in hotel always seemed empty - we only ate at 2 of them which was enough for us. Variety and prices available on their website which is handy .

We had booked 14 nights direct with hotel and received no hotel bonuses which we found somewhat unusual - no vouchers for a free massage etc/ laundry / meal or what ever where others had booked deals - possibly through other websites ?where they got up to 8 massages and a few free meals and staying for half the amount of time we did ?

Breakfast ok - slow on restocking so suggest get there before the main crowd does. Very very repetitive . 3 Asian dishes changed as did the hot veggies but that's all.

Have been in hotel now for 10 nights and am finding the longer we are here the more we are not enjoying the service - or lack of.

As mentioned plenty of loungers by the pool which little tables and not all have service buzzers which we found very frustrating . On a Number of occasions we had to press buzzer when we did get one a number of times to receive service. No one walking around here asking if you wanted anything as we have experienced everywhere else. Even at the sunset bar we had to say there is 6 of you at the bar and we are still getting up to get our own drinks . After we requested table service we then got attended to but the other 2 couples still had to fend for themselves !
Pool bar closes at 5 pm sharp and lounge cushions are also getting packed away before this time - which causes the feeling of having to leave the area - possibly why the hotel is so dead at night .

We spoke a number of couples/ families who were all of the same mind - no service .

After an incident at hotel we requested a construction area be bunted off to stop the possibility of it happening again. This did not occur. We actually were very disappointed nth is but again just shrugged this off . Offered a room upgrade only as we complained due to the seriousness but we declined this due to wanting a particular room and hat is why we stayed here.
Great hotel for first timers or people who eat Meals out side of hotel . Five star - defiantly not. 3 star

Room Tip: Ground floor with terrace - no stairs or elevators - easy access to pool esp if you have kids

Many thanks for taking the time for your review.

We have recently sold a package that includes Spa treatments and dinners as part of that, so many of our recent guests have stayed with us on that program and will have been issued vouchers for all the inclusions. The inclusions may well have been sold at a slightly discounted rate as it is sold in advance including many benefits or inclusions, but it is not that these are given away on a complimentary basis by any means.

My apologies for any lapse of service around the pool, we are just awaiting for replacement of some of our Beach Butler call buttons as several of these have recently failed, however our staff should certainly have covered for this and made sure service levels did not drop because of this. This point has been made aware to our poolside service staff.

Just one point, if I may, our Aloha swim up poolside bar closes at 6pm, just as it is getting dark, and not 5pm, I think you may be referring to the Happy Hour which ends at the Aloha bar at 5pm although our other bars do have Happy Hours continuing for periods beyond that time.

I stay at Grand Aston Nusa Dua every couple of years and it is a rock solid experience each time.
I stayed at the Aston in June 2014 and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
My room was great, the pool and surrounds were clean and inviting and the breakfasts were really super.
Of note, I left an expensive bottle of Scotch in the room at check out, I came back that evening and housekeeping had found the bottle, logged and documented the find and placed it in security. This would not be the case in many hotels- WELL DONE Grand Aston.
