First they sent us to a room which already had someone else's bags. The bellboy asked us if those were ours! Then they gave is another room which had a gross looking pond infront and loads of mozzies in our room. We asked for mozzie coil but it never came. Parts of the hotel and our bathroom stank of sewer. And we had to pay for wi-fi when we stayed at a 4 star hotel in Seminyak and they were handing out wi-fi passwords.

On the whole, not worth the 100/nite we paid for a 5 star resort.

We booked two rooms here over 5 nights in January for our family of 5. Our rooms were upgraded on check in and we found them to be very large and clean with well-equipped bathrooms. The price included breakfast but the restaurant was usually crowded and quite hot as there was no air con. Room service was quick and efficient. However the evening buffets were very expensive and it is much better value to eat outside the hotel or choose another option from the other two restaurants on site. Be prepared for lots of guests smoking in restaurants and around the pool areas though. While there was a section for smokers, smoke filtered into the restaurant – they really should segregate smokers and non-smokers better, or eliminate smoking in restaurants entirely! We also had trouble with mosquitoes in our room and around the pool area unfortunately. After a major spray of the outside areas it was better.
Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the pool was great and the arranged activities like table tennis, pool volleyball, etc were good.

We stayed in 2 ocean view rooms with our 4 children 12-14 yo. The welcome was nice, rooms were nice size. The age of the resort shows in places. The breakfast was OK, not the same quality as Hong Kong or Singapore Hotels but very adequate. The staff are friendly as is everyone in Bali. The kids loved the hotel pool, it really is a great fun pool and there were plenty of chairs for us even between Xmas and New Year. The New Year's eve party seemed to blast the rooms forever but thankfully they shut of the noise at 1pm instead of 2pm.

I would recommend staying the the Nusa Dua proper area as walking around there has much nicer pathways and the shops are nice, I was happy to pay more and get quality. We will stay near the Bali Collection Shops next time, as we loved that area.

Cons: Bath and Shower water was luke warm, the food was pretty average compared to every other place in the world we have stayed. Having been to Italy I would say the Italian Restaurant needs to send the chef there also as nothing tasted authentic. The hotel pizzas are certainly not worth ordering, you are best with the asian style food as they are much better at making those dishes. We had some dinners at the normal restaurant and they were all fine, for the 6 of us with drinks it cost around $140 so reasonable but not cheap.

Pool area wonderful and rooms were great size and nice views so overall great holiday.

We decided on the Aston, as opposed to other 4-5 star hotels in Tanjung Benoa because it was a lot cheaper than the others.
So we weren't too surprised to discover that the rooms are quite tired, and in need of a bit of TLC.
We stayed in a "superior room"- so maybe the upgraded rooms are in better nick.
The bathroom was marble, with a big bathtub, which was a nice bonus. The room was quite big, and clean enough, however the walls were quite grubby and marked, and the paint was peeling in places.
Overall the actual property is quite nice. The big pool is awesome, and it's beach front, which is great. There are restaurants all up and down the beach strip, so it's easy to find somewhere.
The included breakfast was pretty good- but most Bali breakfasts are!
If you want luxury, then pay the extra and stay at the Novotel- because this just doesn't compare. But then, it has a price tag to match!

We stayed for 5 nights with our young son and loved every second of it. Our room was spacious and bright and apart from having to request a 3rd towel every day we had no problems. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, helping move us to a different room so we could enjoy a late check out and let our son nap before the flight home.
The food in the hotel restaurant in the evening was a bit pricey however still enjoyable. We ate out most evenings at some beautiful restaurants just a short walk from the hotel.
Breakfast was fantastic with a huge selection to suit everyone and the pool area the perfect place to relax for the day.
We can't wait for our trip back this year!
