My husband, two year old daughter and myself stayed at the hotel from the 5th until the 14th January 2010. We were very impressed with all of the staff. They were so friendly and made our stay enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to others. We arrived very early in the morning and they were nice enough to provide us with early check-in and this allowed us all to have a rest when we got there. They even gave the three of us free breakfast that morning! Nothing was too much trouble, they even accommodated a late check-out, as we had a midnight flight. The female assistant manager was so lovely and even gave my daughter a gift of two toys when we left.

Our room was on the top floor and had a beautiful view of the ocean and the gardens. It was always clean and the staff even provided my little girl with a flower and goodnight message every night. We had very comfortable beds. The gardens were beautiful and we made good use of the pool. It was great that they had a kiddies pool and a playground right next to it! We ate at the grill a few times and the food was delicious also.

The hotel had a games room which was excellent for those with children or teenagers. It was nice to see adults using it also. There was snooker/pool tables, tennis table, Xbox/Wii/Play station, Airhockey table, lego, chess, backgammon etc... The hotel also had a kids club but we didn't use it as we didn't feel the need, but for those with slightly older children, I would recommend they use it. The hotel did provide 30 mins free internet access each day but there were only 2 computers available in the games room/business centre. We never had to wait to use it, but I would recommend getting more, especially when the hotel is full. Maybe providing free wireless internet access for use in rooms or other areas around the hotel would be an improvement. We did pay for unlimited internet access for 5 days of our trip which was at a fairly reasonable rate.

Hotel was in a good location and had many delicious restaurants nearby. As in previous reviews we also recommend La Scala as it was directly over the road from our hotel. The service is fantastic, we were offered cold towels to freshen up, free welcome drinks and a free entree. They were very efficient and meals arrived quickly. It had an excellent choice of meals catering for many different tastes. We ate there 3 times during our stay. They catered for children with a good range of meals and they even accommodated our request of a half serve at half the price. Again, very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble.

We also ate at Bumbu Bali which was an authentic Balinese restaurant just down the road from the hotel. It was pretty pricey, especially the cocktails, but the food was delicious and the servings were huge. It also has a cooking school attached to the hotel.

The free hotel shuttle to and from the airport was excellent. The drivers were very safe and they even had seatbelts in the back which accommodated us and the car seat for our 2 year old daughter. We also used the hotel taxi service for trips into Kuta for shopping and to visit Waterbomb Park. The cost of the taxi's was fairly reasonable and again the drivers (who were locals) were good. The hotel also offered a free shuttle bus to Bali Collection, a shopping complex in Nusa Dua with a huge range of restaurants. It was a quick trip, about 10 mins each way. Thank you to all the staff at The Grand Mirage!

We stayed here over Christmas and New Year. Overall we had a wonderful relaxing holiday. the main reason was that the kids (9 and 6) were kept so entertained that we could lie back and enjoy ourselves. The main advantage was to have paid for the Gold band all inclusive through Virgin Holidays. This gave us free access tp the kids club where the staff were great; The games room where the kids and adults can play in the evenings and of course all food and drink. They did have some exceptions such as resticting premium brand spirits only at night in one of the bars.

Their were also acticities such as fruit carving, bike tours and cooking lessons which not many guests seem to take part in. With all inclusive you also get lots of free vouchers for beach massages, the Spa, jet skis and other watersports equipment.

The original seaview suite we had was a bit dark and small as we had extra beds for the kids, but they soon changed us to a much bigger, brighter room when we requested it.

Generally the staff were freindly and helpful but they sometimes do things in 'Bali time' without the rush that many western resorts have. Once you've accepted this and learnt to unwind then this is a fabulous place to stay.

We stayed at the Mirage for a week over the xmas period, this was a last minute trip as we decided we needed to get away, i booked the hotel accomodation through Agoda which are a fantastic service and offer the best hotel prices by far! We booked a standard room and unfortunately it was not in the renovation part but that did not worry us as we were hardly in the room, however it was very comfortable and clean! They come in twice a day!
We spent the first few days venturing out of the hotel for our lunches and dinners and found a fantastic restaurant opposite the hotel caleed LA SCALA at night it looks a little like the Sydney Opera House when you look at it, the staff were great and the food was good and cheap they probably had the best SATES and sauce i have ever tried in the world!
The last 4 days we went all inclusive in the hotel as it was over xmas eve, day etc and this proved to be great value as you could eat whenever you want!
The hotel went to great lengths to spread teh xmas spirit around with Santa and presents for the kids, carols in the bar and it was great to see that the local children were included in the festivities.
We never saw our childeren as they were in the pool with all the other friends they had made or in the kids club so it was bliss for mum and dad to lie by the pool knowing the kids were in safe hands!
The only negative thing i would have to say about the hotel is the breakfast was shocking! It was always cold and had hardened it was very Asian influenced and the coffee was shocking so bring your own if you can!
Shopping in Kuta is alot cheaper so go in there one day There is a group of ladies who offer a massage service on the beach, if you stand facing the beach look to the left and you will see a little hut with a Hindu Temple an hour is 60000 R and you get 2-3 ladies massaging!
I have a driver i highly recommend who will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel and also do tours his name is Made (Mady) [--].
We have used him on several visits he is also a safe driver!

We stayed in GM for 4 days from 23-26 Dec.The breakfast buffet was just okay. Kuta beach is more beautiful than Tanjungbenoa beach.Rooms were clean and sevice was good. The only thing to complain about is the noise at night from the bar(they sing very loudly every night& we can hear from our room)&the beach-I saw seaweeds in the water .We rent a car for US 35 per day with petrol and English speaking driver.Don't hesitate to bargain when buying things in markets(Ubud market) and even in Batik stores where they have price tags. The salesman told us 120,000 indonesian rupiah for a dress and finally sold us with only 25,000 indonesian rupiah!Don't go to CasaBella restaurant which offer bad food, worst service & is far more expensive than other restaurants. They got us waiting for our food for more than an hour & when we complained about the waiting the waitress yelled "it's kitchen business & we can't do anything"and the just chatted among themselves and didn't even serve us.I had never experienced such a bad service. After all,it was a nice stay in Grand Mirage.

We went there for our honeymoon and it was a wondeful experience....The rooms were very cosy and romantic.. Staff was very friendly and the hospitality was out of the world. Rooms and bathrooms were cleaned on a daily basis. The breakfast which is included offers a wide variety of buffet food and the egg station was simply fantastic wid different varieties to choose from. On request, our eggs were also prepared in a special frying pan not used for pork.
Overall it was a fantastic experience and do surely recommend this hotel...

we have just returned from Bali, where we stayed in GM for 7 nights. We have only the best words for this hotel. Rooms are spatious and very clean (they clean it at least 2 times a day), food is excellend, but what we liked the most is the stuff. They were very helpfull, and all try to remember your name. Also when we were checking in they noticed that my birthday was during our stay there, so when we came back from the beach that day, the 'happy birthday' cake was in our room. I couldn't belive.

I read the reviews before going & was a little worried, however the hotel and staff were amazing! the food on site & sister hotel next door is stunning & nothing is to much trouble. we went with Virgin which it seems automatically gives gold band. we got free mini bar (daily) 24 hr room service, 2 items of laundry per person per day, free internet, gym, games & much more. its worth checking you are getting gold band as others on the blue & white only got some of the restaurants, no drinks or extras included. That a side its so cheap over there with lots of restaurant outside the door. Only one thing let it down, entertainment. not much on offer & not a lot happens past 10pm outside so if you like a busy evening vibe you may not like it. Most people got a taxi (£12 one way the only rip off) to kuta which is very very busy all the time, we hired a moterbike for 6000rp per day! (£4) & toured about but hated Kuta & was glad to get back to our quite end. willing to give more tips just ask : )
