After dining at Cardamon we were really looking forward to trying the new sister restaurant. Certainly the decor was fresher and more modern than Cardamon but food and service wise it still has a way to go. For our starter we ordered the platter of Indonesian appetisers to share and then I ordered the prawns and my wife one of the appetisers as a main, pork belly in a green tea broth with noodles.
We found the mix of appetisers lacking in flavours and rather disappointing however this might be just that they did not suit our palate. My main, the grilled prawns, were very disappointing. They were served with a little bit of sambal which was absolutely flavourless and the prawns were over cooked and dried out. They had no sauce on them but on the bottom of the glass jar in which the skewers were served was a small amount of sweet chilli sauce which I assume was meant to be served with them; overall a disappointing dish. The pork belly in a green tea broth with noodles was the highlight of the meal and we could both recommend it.
We dined a second time at Cardamon and again thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the attentive service hence our recommendation at this stage to stick with the original restaurant.
