Since my husband and I had never been to Rarotonga before deciding to get married there, we did a lot of searching beforehand to find the perfect place for our wedding. After a suggestion from a friend, we settled on Palm Grove which turned out to be a fabulous choice. Not only does Palm Grove have the best beachfront location on the island for a wedding, the staff go above and beyond to make sure that everything goes smoothly on your big day. Hair and nail appointments were made before we arrived and we were whisked everywhere by Jo-Anne to take care of the details such as flowers, the license, etc. when we arrived. A local photographer took some amazing pictures (see below!) The back room of the Yellow Hibiscus was set up beautifully for the reception with local flowers and greenery and we were very impressed especially with the selection of salads on the buffet. There were a lot of local specialties that really gave it an island feel.
We reserved a deluxe garden room for ourselves and really enjoyed looking out towards the mountains in the background each evening. The rooms were not fancy, but were clean and well taken care of and included a kitchenette which was handy. Also, if you're planning a wedding and you have a few people coming with you, ask about the house rentals that they manage. There is an amazing house just across the street that my mom rented that was the perfect place for everyone to gather.
What we really loved about Palm Grove was that it wasn't a fancy resort where you're just another guest; you really get the sense that you are a part of the family. Our sincere thanks to Betsy, Jo-Anne, Mata, and the rest of the staff who made our wedding one to remember.

Room Tip: Loved our deluxe garden room, but the beachfront bungalos were in a prime location!

We stayed for 2 nigths in a beach bungalow and it was such an idyllic loaction, the bungalow was good, private with all amenities, and it was a low key kind of place, not too big, staff nice, and overall fully met our expectations. There was an almighty storm on the first night and the next day, a bit scary, but died down but spolit the next day's sun lounging! but the bus into the main town is so convenient and we visited the market which was really interesting.
It was quite expensive but has to be comapred to other places in Raro - Cooks are more expensive than say, equivalent for what you would get price-wise in Europe. Breakfast was loads of fruit, cereals and toast and was included. We had a meal one evening which was ok. Late checkout to 3pm was an extra 120 dollars.

Kia Orana pobol,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review of Palm Grove! We really appreciate your comments and we're very happy you enjoyed your stay with us. I just wanted to clarify our late check out fees for the benefit of other TripAdvisor readers.

Palm Grove offers guaranteed early check in (from 6am) and late check out (until 6pm) when prebooked; the cost is 50% of the nightly rate. For guests that request a late check out once they arrive at Palm Grove (non-guaranteed), we offer a reduced rate if late check out is available. The reduced rate is based on the price of the room category and costs between NZ$75 and NZ$120 and gives you use of your room until 6pm. Quite often, if available, we will extend the late check out time until the guests depart for the airport at 9pm or later for no extra charge.

Please don't hesitate to contact me directly should anyone have further queries regarding our early check in and late check out policy/pricing.

Kind regards,

Betsy Eisler

We were picked up by Nga at the airport after midnight and from the greeting we received we knew we had picked the right place! Palm Grove is everything they advertise and nothing is to much trouble. Joanne, Nga and all their fantastic staff make you feel so welcome and relaxed. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow, so much character and well maintained. The beach has to be seen to be believed. Picture perfect! Friday night Happy Hour and Sunday Night BBQ should not be missed. This was the best place to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. A trip to be remembered forever. Can't wait to return, sooner than later, we hope. Meitaki ma'ata.

Palm Grove is a perfect place to stay with small children. We had the three-bedroom bungalow and self-catered, bringing both our own food from NZ and using Wigmore's Supermarket just a few hundred metres up the road. The bungalow was well away from other accommodation so we didn't have to worry about how much noise the kids made! Our week consisted of moving between our bungalow, the beach and the pool. We looked at a few other spots to swim, snorkel and make sandcastles but nothing was as good as the beach right on our doorstep! Everything is provided, including beach towels, kayaks, snorkelling gear and toys for the kids. The Friday night Happy Hour is a really nice touch. Jo-Anne, Nga and all the staff there are amazingly friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Palm Grove for a family holiday and hope to come back again one day. For light sleepers I recommend packing ear plugs as the local rooster population starts up very early in the morning!

This was our forth stay at Palm Grove. We had three very relaxing weeks staying in one of the beach front Matenga Units, the same one we have had on our previous visits. The Palm Grove team again made our holiday special. From dawn to dusk and into the night we received the same great service that we have experienced before, which is one of the main reasons we return. Best location, Best beach, Best value and most of all the Best people. Already planning our next visit.

I had read the reviews here, both good and bad, and have to say that the Palm Grove replies are totally accurate and really shoot down any complaints from grumpy customers. Possibly a few of them were right but all I saw was proof that this is a great place and some people are just incredibly picky.

We stayed in a Garden Studio and found it lovely. It had everything we needed and the beach was only a minute away. And what a beach... Palm Grove must have one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in Rarotonga, it was stunning.

We didn't see much of the staff but when we did they were always helpful. The kitchen staff were especially lovely and we appreciated the complimentary breakfast - which was basic, but there was always the option of a cheap cooked breakfast.

No complaints here, we really enjoyed our stay and I'll be back when I win lotto.

Room Tip: Our newlywed friends had a beautiful beach bungalow and if you have the money it's worth it! But...

We booked online after asking for a quote for holiday, simple wedding and honeymoon (12 nights). We could not have been happier with the location, the service and the people. By the time we left we felt like family. This is a truly beautiful spot and from what we saw of the other resorts on the Island, the best. Thank you so much to Jo-Anne, Mata, Nga, the lovely lady in reception and her husband (who's daughter showed Janet how to dance) and the friendly ladies who maintained our bungalo on the beach.
Not to be missed are the Happy Hour on Friday nights ( the voices of Rose and Tan are so good they have to be heard to be believed) and the barbecue on Sunday nights (YUM). Thank you all WE WILL BE BACK.
