“A welcome cup of tea on a windy September day”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

The Venus Cafe on Blackpool sands is really just a beach cafe with quite a high standard of food. On a gloriously hot day it is highly recommended but when we visited in mid-September it was a sad reflection of what it can be - although with only 10 or so people on the beach I was actually surprised it was open.
The owners of Venus pride themselves in their sustainable credentials and sourcing local products. It was a pity they did not extend this to the staff on duty - both Polish if I know my accents!
Please let me back next time I am in Dartmouth.

Thank you for your comments. We do not employ any Polish people at Blackpool Sands at the moment. We do have 2 EEC Spanish nationals who are delightful. We would certainly employ more local people from Dartmouth and the surrounds (we already employ 10) but we do find very few actually want to work in hospitality. As a sensible employer we employ the best people for the job and only those with the right attitude. We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit.

The foods good, service ok but the view of the sea over Blackpool sands - outstanding! Can get a bit chilly so take a wooly.

On the best beach in the country (not sandy!) nice simple menu, good wine list and lovely staff - all with a beautiful view.

“Great beach Cafe”

Blackpool sands is a lovely spot and the cafe has everything you need to enjoy your stay. I really like the local lemonade, not your fizzy stuff but with the zing of real lemons. Also for morning coffee before it got busy we didn't have to pay for the car park

“Premium food in premium location”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 via mobile

We visited the Venus Cafe as part of our visit to Blackpool Sands. The food is excellent, well presented, plentiful and sourced locally. Organically produced ingredients are central to this Cafe's ethos. The food is more restaurant standard the cafe. if you are expecting typical beach side cafe fare, then i would suggest that this is not the place for you, although the surroundings are very cafe style. The prices reflect the quality as well as the location. Pleasant and helpful staff and, all in all, an experience that is well worth repeating. The downside is the £7 that we had to part with in order to simply park the car.
