Everything about Kaywana Hall is stunning. We stayed for 3 nights in July, would loved to have stayed longer. The attention to detail is superb. The bed in our room , "Beech" was so comfortable only the thought of Tony's delicious breakfast could entice me out! We loved to hear about the history of this extraordinary "Butterfy House". What Tony and Gordon have created and they choose to share!! is a 5 star , divine smelling!! I love the sleep well spray that filled our room when we returned for the evening, sanctuary where anything you could possibly think of is already there!!! Even the magical jelly beans!!. It is truly, a fabulous B&B!!!!!!! X X

Room Tip: All rooms are superb. Beech is lovely, has a patio overlooking the pool.

We stayed for two nights in June 2014, and just loved what the owners have created. Our room was called 'Beech' and had a lovely terrace overlooking the pool. Ah, the pool. Made use of it both days. Absolutely wonderful to come back to that after a hot day. The history of the stunning building is fascinating. The room was spotless and very well thought out. There is so much more I could say about Kaywana Hall. Suffice to say, we will return. No doubt.

My wife chose this place for a couple of nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It far exceeded all our expectations and provided a brilliant base to set off and explore the surrounding area. I loved the fact that the accommodation was separate from the main house creating a feeling of having your own space and not intruding on others. Tony does appear to have thought of everything, the home made biscuits and fudge are far too good to resist. Breakfast was wonderful, the locally sourced ingredients were cooked perfectly and started the days off perfectly. Others have been far more eloquent than I can manage and it does seem unlikely that it can be that good. It is.

A sumptuous sanctuary of comfort and elegance, with 5 star service and attention to every detail. Bountiful scrumptious breakfasts/home made biscuits & fudge. Style abounds throughout.... stunning glassware, gorgeous art deco kettle. I can't speak highly enough of this B & B, it is above and beyond divine.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room adjacent to Gordon and Tony's dining room, which has its own staircase to...

We were attracted by the very positive reviews on Trip Advisor and because the accommodation provides private parking and easy access to Kingswear (15 minute walk away). This meant we could forget all about the car for the duration after our long journey down to Devon.
Kaywana Hall is set in private wooded grounds and the approach is made through automatic gates and a sweeping drive. The architecture and history of its development is fascinating and our room was large and stylish. It was spotlessly clean and themed around a large oil painting above the very comfy bed. There were jars of biscuits, fudge and jelly beans which were replenished daily. We were blessed with a private sun deck with chairs and a parasol and it was very pleasant to sit out in the warm evening sunshine with a cold glass of white wine and listen to the birds twittering in the woods. Attention to customer detail was provided by our hosts with a bed turndown service and thoughtful touches to ensure a good nights sleep which was only occasionally punctuated by the hooting of owls. Breakfast was served in the breathtaking main house which is open plan, light and airy. The menu was varied and the food is locally sourced. We set out each day for our river and steam train excursions from Dartmouth totally refreshed and well fed. Although large umbrellas are provided in the room, the weather was kind so they were not needed. On our return home we checked the diary and rebooked for another stay at Kaywana Hall.
Thanks Tony and Gordon, we enjoyed a great break and we'll see you again soon.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms and we're sure they're all as good as each other.

Fabulous weekend at Kaywana Hall where the Iconic 1960s building has been turned into a contemporary haven with every attention to detail thought through. Everything written here is absolutely our experience - fabulous breakfasts, luxurious beds and magical jars of fudge that replenish themselves all in a woodland setting. Tony and Gordon are warm, friendly, helpful but unobtrusive hosts who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Nothing is flowery or faded. Everything has been carefully chosen to fit with the sharp modern building design. We stayed in Oak which has the lovely turquoise colour scheme which extends to the wet room. Catching the ferry over to Dartmouth was great fun and there is loads to do there from great restaurants to coastal walks. I searched hard to find something like Kaywana Hall and it still exceeded my expectations.

We stopped over the Midsummer weekend for two nights - we had been drawn to this amazing butterfly house by the architecture and history but were not prepared for what an outstanding haven that Tony and Gordon have made the Hall into. Their combined attention to detail and outstanding hospitality make this a fantstaic destination to relax, unwind and absorb the enormity of both the building and their passion for it. We were lucky enough to have the perfect weather to enjoy the pool, but would have been equally happy to be locked inside enjoying the style, ambience and of course, the homemade fudge in the rooms...

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms, each with a private patio - you can't miss!
