The description of the hotel is not accurate; it is trying to be a high class boutique hotel however is not at that standard.
I have stayed in several boutique hotels and also top hotels in the world, and have found that their descriptions are fairly accurate, however not here.
The only good point about this hotel is that the staff do try their best, however, you can see that they are overworked and tired and sometimes it shows in their performance.
Having read the last couple of comments on tripadvisor and the replies given by elixir holidays; I thought I should write my comments:-

Do not put signs up and around the hotel stating that no food or drink bought from outside the hotel is allowed - I have never seen this portayed in any hotel in the world.
It is no excuse that the reason is for health and safety reasons!
For this type of hotel, water should be given in the rooms and around the pool area, free of charge - it is not a major expense to do this
Tea and coffee making facilities should be supplied in the rooms - again this is not a huge expense
The hotel boat trip is far too expensive
The breakfast and lunch menu is very limited
Take note of the negative comments made and try to improve
Overall, the hotel thinks it is better than it actually is

We have just returned from our 2 weeks in the Honeymoon Suite at (Elixir Art) Sabrinahs House, Bozburun.
Firstly the situation of the hotel was beautiful, all the room were very tastefully decorated and unique; the honeymoon suite was wonderful and faultless- lovely outside private hot tub and large balcony.

However, there were some areas which need to be improved. The staff were very willing and hardworking, but needed proper training, Assim, the manager worked hard to please everyone, but needed better back up from his staff as he was fairly stressed running around most of the time. Service at times was akin to Faulty Towers! It took 40 mins to get 2 ice creams one day. When we arrived there was no clear information given about the routine of the hotel, we found out by accident that complimentary tea and cakes were served between 1600-1700 most days. There should be a better hotel guide with useful tips in it. No mini bar prices and a rather stern notice about not bringing in food and drink or it would be stored securely away!!

The prices for the drinks was exorbitant.; worse than London prices. I am sure more people would spend more time at the bar if the drinks were less and therefore boost overall profits. Happy hour had 30% reduction in drinks, the time changed while we were there, but again we found out by accident- they seem to have real communication difficulties at times.

The hotel speedboat only had 2 complimentary trips per day into the village 1100-1200 at 1800-1900- this should be increased to at least four times per day as only giving one hour in the village does not allow for lunch out. It is as if the hotel staff do not want you go over and spend money in the village, but stay in the hotel all the time. It is of course acceptable to pay for the hotel boat taxi service outside the times, but if you had the boat to yourself (per couple) it was 20TL each way, if more people joined it was 15TLper couple per journey, at times we had 3 couples which meant the hotel were creaming in 45TL per trip which again is a bit of a rip off for customers. Trips out were cost prohibitive, we were quoted by Figan the Elixir rep, to hire a car with driver for the day would cost 500TL (£250 approx)- again this was a ploy to dissuade guests to explore the area which is a real shame as it is so beautiful. The one trip we were able to do was the complimentary village tour, we really enjoyed it, the guide was very informative and the lunch fantastic.

We ventured on the gullet trip- it was 200TL per person- roughly £200 per couple. Then to be charged for bottles of water on the trip was a disgrace, even a couple of beers should have been included as with previous gullet trips we have enjoyed with Exclusive Escapes when a full cooked lunch, wine and afternoon tea was served at half the price. The lunch we had consisted of ham and cheese rolls, 1 bowl of village salad and 3 bowls of noodles between 6- very unimaginative and very disappointing. The gullet is not taken out very much, it is sitting outside the hotel for the majority of time; if the trip was better value for money then we and many of our fellow guests would have done the trip more than once and the gullet would have been more regularly used.

We would recommend the Fisherman's House & Bozburun Restaurant in the village - we did manage to escape a few times! We also enjoyed the Yacht club and the next but one restaurant to the seafood restaurant along from the hotel ( sorry forgot the name- this was probably our best meal out and the cheapest) - they come and pick you up and bring you back by boat.

We did have a lovely time, as it was a place to chill out, but we will probably not return.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION AND NOT TOO DEAR…

Wonderful and Faultless…

First of all thank you so much for your rave reviews about the quality of your complimentary upgrade to the Honeymoon Suite at the Elixir Art Hotel. We like your words, wonderful and faultless, as that is our aim with the rooms which we have contracted.
Every guest’s opinion matters on all aspect of the hotel and we are pleased that you found the hotel staff willing and hardworking.

The image of Fawlty Towers, however, is one of peeling wallpaper, crumbling infrastructure, an owner with terrible communication skills, animals running about and poorly cooked food from a dirty kitchen. This portrayal may appear charmingly eccentric, but we see it as a huge insult, to the staff of Sabrina Haus/Elixir Art Hotel that does nothing but bend over backwards to accommodate clients in a very demanding industry. We pride ourselves at rising to such challenges as we have had several years experience in this sector.
We think that this portrayal in no way sits comfortably with the original comments of wonderful and faultless. It is potentially damaging to our reputation and business as a quality tour operator.

Food & Drinks Sale at Elixir Art/Sabrina Haus

For the record, Elixir Holidays Ltd in no way benefits either directly or indirectly on any food, beverage or alcohol sold at the hotel.

Private All Day Tour

The day’s tour quoted at £200 includes:

• an English speaking chauffer
• the exclusive use of a 2010 BMW – for the full day
• an English speaking guide
• complimentary three course meal for both parties
• all museum entry fees

We respectfully suggest that £200 per day is a reasonable sum considering the number of items which are inclusive with the exclusivity of not having several other guests breathing on you. It is certainly not a ‘ploy’ to keep anyone at the hotel as we benefit in no way from guests staying at the hotel to eat and drink. Elixir Holidays do want people to experience the natural beauty and charm of the area so that they can spread the word (most of our clients are obtained by word of mouth recommendation). We also provide our own paid representatives at the hotel with a dedicated area in order to ensure guests have all the information they may require to enhance their stay.

Exclusivity & Privacy on boat tours

Maintaining the exclusivity and privacy of our clients are paramount goals of Elixir Holidays. Yes, we do acknowledge that many other tour operators accommodate several couples on their boat tours. Sometimes up to 30 people can be, and are, forced into very intimate proximity to enable maximum profit. We acknowledge that many are happy with this.

We at Elixir Holidays Ltd are trying to promote the idea of a more languid, calming spirit for the precious one or two week break with which our clients entrust us. We feel that a bit of exclusivity thrown in for good measure will only serve to enhance the feeling of goodwill. The cost of this is not as erroneously quoted £200 per couple but £85 per person per tour. Only a maximum of three couples are allowed to share an 18 metre yacht. This allows all prospective clients to have a more accurate understanding of the charge and not the arbitrary quote that it is too expensive.

The meal on the tour is a carefully prepared and packed lunch designed to eliminate the need to re-heat for health and safety reasons.

Exclusive Private & VIP Transfers

We also provide brand new top of the range luxury cars including (BMW, Range Rovers and Mercedes Benz) for transfers for the very reason that we want to maintain exclusivity and not coaches crammed with other guests.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the small resort. After a two hour transfer by car from Dalaman airport we had high expectations which were not met by the hotel.

The views from the hotel are amazing looking into a bay however thats about all which impressed us.

Breakfast - was the same usual poorly presented breakfast items, with hardly any communication from the hotel staff to advise you on what if any hot items which could be ordered.

Lunch - small menu which will get boring after the second or third day, complimentary tea and cakes are served between the hours of 4pm - 5pm (However no one from the hotel will tell you that)

Dinner - not bad, actually the best meal of the day from the hotel, large portions and tasty food. However you must get the staff to repeat your order and try to get it right. During our stay we regularly saw occurrences from other tables of wrong food or even no food being delivered to their tables. We met a couple whom were vegetarian an were having an awful time with the food especially as the acting manager Asim himself is a vegetarian. Don't expect turkish mezzes etc here. Other restaurants such as Orfoz next door only accept cash however the Yacht Club (small hotel) accepts credit card, sends their complimentary boat and has wonderful warm eager to please owners and great sea food.

Recreation - If you book through Elixir try to get as much as you can thrown in, we had a village tour which was cancelled as it was not on the scheduled day, we kicked up a fuss and was shown some small waterfalls and a place where you could walk on the water (actually just walking on the ground in a lagoon) followed by dinner at Sardunya which was lovely. The hotel and Elixir like to spend as much as you can with the hotel. We went on a boat tour, around 5 hours which two other couples at 200 TL per person (more if you don't share the boat tour) including lunch (rolls, noodles and a salad) which was relaxing. Having a sore neck I went for a massage which I personally thought was good however not worth the price.

Rooms - Depends on which room you get we stayed in Lilly, the hotel like to shift people during their stay due to their small inventory of rooms and overbooking procedures. Don't expect to get any English channels ie BBC news etc as their are only 4 channels all in Turkish. Air conditioning works well in some rooms and bad in other rooms. Don't try to have a Jacuzzi and shower at the same time as one will stop working.

Housekeeping - Very nice staff, however they take a long time to clean the rooms and forget replace shower gel, shampoo etc. Don't expect turn down service as the hotel does not offer it.

Room service - Nope not offered at all, a bit of a joke for a supposed 5 Star, 101 Tatler recommended hotel. On top of the mini bar it states no outside food and beverage is allowed in the hotel due to safety. What rubbish because the hotel want to spend all your money with them. Funny that the hotel gets all their items from the local village which guests are not allowed to. Also the mini bar has no prices on it, so don't expect it to be complimentary.

To round up we would have stayed somewhere else, ie the Hillside Beach Resort which has far better facilities etc and with far higher levels of service. The hotel needs to learn of their short falls and rectify them ASAP before it starts getting a poor reputation. However their lack of responses of Trip-advisor shows that the owner does not actually care.....

ELIXIR ART HOTEL/SABRINA HAUS IS UP TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
There seems to be some disparity between this guest’s actual experiences and scoring of the beautiful boutique hotel, Elixir Art:
The VIP transfer vehicle from Dalaman airport was a brand new BMW 7 Series custom fitted throughout.

Interestingly this guest says that the views from the hotel are amazing and impressive yet gave the location rating of just three stars which questions the rationale and the veracity of the review.

The breakfast menu is varied ranging from beautifully cooked eggs to cold meats, fresh fruit juices and cereals. Given the staff/guest ratio, you just need to ask for what you cannot immediately see. Elixir Art’s breakfast is well-known as one of the best ways to start the day. We’ve compiled a short list of some of the items: Please find a list of the organic items served at breakfast below:
• Two types of butter
• Two types of honey
• Six types of homemade jam
• Ten types of cheeses including imported cheddar
• Five types of olives
• Peanut Butter
• Various assortments of Salami and, the list continues...
There are cured meats and cold cuts, sausages, Eggs, including, the scrambled variety – Muesli - Fresh fruit salad - Fresh fruit juices (orange, cherry and apricot), four types of freshly baked bread including a local speciality unique to Elixir Art. These fresh breads are delivered each morning by boat. There is also a variety of hot, freshly baked specialty pastries including Danish which is changed each day
Lunch – the fare usually consists of over 20 different entrees. It’s very difficult for this meal to get boring after two days. I cannot see the justification for this statement. It’s been brilliantly observed that complimentary tea and cakes are served between the hours of 4pm - 5pm.

It is said that dinner is – actually the best meal of the day from the hotel, large portions and tasty food. Considering that Elixir Art/Sabrina Haus Hotel has world class Michelin trained chefs it is no wonder that the quality is delivered with such exacting standards. There are six different types of mezzes ranging from the Ottoman to modern times. Evidence suggests that the service this guest received was fine. To then go on to defame the hotel using hearsay to suggest that guests at tables other than their own had the wrong food or not delivered at all is not justified. In any good restaurant, the a-la-carte menu will take some time to prepare especially if the restaurant is full. During our investigation, we checked the bill and found that all that was ordered was received and paid for.
The complimentary village tour is organised once per week during the high season. It was not cancelled, as stated. On this occasion, given the short amount of time spent there by some clients, some things will/will not be available. In this case, we organised a brand new chauffer driven BMW 5 Series, with an English speaking guide and one of our representative in Turkey. We also offered you a complimentary dinner at Sardunya restaurant which our clients have repeatedly acknowledged as being delightful. Elixir Holidays automatically give these complimentary add-ons as gestures of goodwill to enhance the wonderful experience of this beautiful romantic getaway. Please dispel the myth that Elixir Holidays benefit from sales of food at the hotel. They also grow their own beautifully organic and aromatic herbs, spices and vegetables.

This boat tour is in fact an 18 metre Turkish yacht with a capacity of at least ten couples. In order to maintain the exclusivity, we recommend no more than three couples at around £80 per person (local charge). This affords more privacy, thus allowing for a more relaxing experience. The lunch hamper consists of finger foods – such as mini sandwiches, noodle and green salads, seasonal fruit and beverages.

The one hour massages are done in an environment to rival the most relaxing – away from it all – environments, on stilts surrounded by waving palms. It is a professional massage with a £60 cost and worth every penny of the training received by these therapists.

We would like to clarify that the hotel was not overbooked. By definition, guests would be turned away from Elixir Art Hotel and left stranded. Each room is a unique experience. Many guests request certain moves especially if they’ve been there before and their first choice has been taken. In order to accommodate you at the hotel, we explained to you at the time of booking – not on arrival – that you would be occupying two rooms during your stay. This was accepted and paid for.

English channels include BBC News, Bloomberg, CNBC, Euro News plus over 40 other channels. Again, the air-conditioner works really well in both your rooms and I would suggest that you are using hearsay to accuse us of what might go wrong.

The housekeeping – may be very nice staff, however they take a long time to clean – but they also need to ensure that everything is spic and span and do not deserve a rating of only three stars. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned in order to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are adhered to. Staff is always happy to supply extra shampoos if these finish early and we have never advertised a turn down or room service. We have found, however, that our usual well-heeled travellers tend to take their own favourite brands with them when they travel and the environmental impact of the waste of the packets of hotel paraphernalia is often an unnecessary waste.

Elixir Art Hotel/Sabrina Haus is an exclusive boutique hotel, nowhere is it listed as a five star. The mini bar does not come free and has prices as do most, if not all, hotels in the world. Health and safety is important when vermin can be invited in by food packages left lying around in rooms during the nights.

The Hillside Beach Resort has over 339 rooms and the Elixir Art Hotel is a small boutique hotel, so no comparison on size or facilities and neither do we try to compete. Elixir Holidays is also proud to represent the Hillside and we have many happy families who go there year on year. Furthermore, we would not wish the Trip Advisor community to be misled by your statement trying to compare these two very distinct venues.

The comments submitted to Elixir Holiday in writing is always well received and treated with the greatest deal of respect as it is used to inform our constantly reviewed and improving service delivery. We truly regret that we have received a poor rating for such a delightful place (the first one since the reviews have been posted) and we hope the last. We have many repeat clients who sing its praises. We hope that the community can read all the other ratings and take a balanced view. We do like to maintain our impartiality (until this, what we consider to be an unjustified attack), so we allow people to give their honest opinions and not get involved in rebutting every negative opinion placed on Trip Advisor about the Elixir Art Hotel.

Elixir Holidays – Where Have You Been Hiding?

I stayed at the Elixir Art/Sabrina Haus from 21st August for ten days with my lovely partner of 15 years and proposed! A couples’ type retreat with an element of exclusivity is what I was looking for and that’s exactly what I got. Previous write-ups were mixed so I packed my wallet with Turkish money when I arrived at the airport. I wanted to ensure against all eventualities… no need as the hotel takes credit cards anyway and I found that the local restaurants were fine with their pricing.

I think if you’re looking for a cheap little place then there are many in the built up resorts in such places as Kalkan. If however you’re wanting to secure that ‘Yes’ or a pampering session or two with massages in a quiet hideaway from the Press, even a three course meal on a floating platform romantically lit with candles, then Elixir Art (somehow seems to be the name from the UK but Sabrina Haus in Turkey) is the place.

Don’t want to go into it much but I’d like to make the effort for this place as I think some reviewers have gone to an alternate universe. The staff to guest ratio is phenomenal, one of the few small places that seem to know that this does make a difference. There were so many helpful hands, well trained and kind service that at no time did we feel neglected. This to me is worth it as the place is well kept and the beautifully spacious rooms frequently cleaned. I'd have liked to have had a little bistro type table with chairs in my room for that private coffee or tea moment. There’s a fantastic BBQ and an array of food and a choice from the chef’s menu that will set any palate alight.

Personally, I also found out that this new transfer service offered by Elixir Holidays (which I thought was new but people there told me they’ve been travelling with them for years) to be the business. Their cars were brand new and quite comfy and they provided us with refreshments and entertainment and to top it all, we went straight to our hotel not skip from place to place as we normally do.

The boat ride is fun but you pay for petrol only outside of their schedule times.
Okay the minuses, not suitable for those who do not enjoy a fabulous retreat type hideaway or for those who want to bring countless bags of food back to their rooms like they do on the Costa – they don’t seem to have problems with an occasional bottle of wine. There’re some issues with a fear of vermin so they don’t encourage takeaways.

Got a proposal to make? This is the place. A great hideaway with the potential to become a favourite...

After many years of using Tripadvisor and often promising ourselves that we would review our stays, we have decided to post a review of our recent stay at Elixir Art (Sabrinas Haus) primarily as we are surprised by some of the reviews which we believe are slightly over the top!

Whist we thought the location is second to none, the hotel had a rather strange management style to say the least. Like other reviewers, we found the Elixir to be very expensive in comparison to other "boutique" or even 5 star hotels we have stayed at around the world. We certainly do not mind paying for quality, but we thought the food was pretty basic especially the buffet breakfast which became a bit tedious by the end of the week. We only ate one evening meal at the hotel (although the setting is spectacular) and preferred to try the other local restaurants in Bozburun for some atmoshphere, and as we were at the hotel all day.

In particular we would recommend Orfoz (fish restaurant next door) which is fantastic and worth more than one visit. The owners are wonderful people.

Our problem with the Elixir was the blatant "monitoring" of the amount being charged to each room every day. This was confirmed to us direct by the manager, who was clearly under pressure to ensure that the guests were spending their money in the hotel and not elsewhere. You are actively encouraged not to eat elsewhere for various reasons, which we feel is not particularly fair to the local businesses who should also be able to benefit... It was clear that each room expenditure was being checked regularly and made us feel uncomfortable as we genuinely did not feel that it was value for money.

We also found it really strange that the manager suddenly cancelled Happy Hour towards the end of our week, which left everyone rather bemused at 6pm...At the end of the day happy hour was only 30% off, but it brought other guests to the lovely bar area to have a beer or a cocktail, whereas on this occasion, all people could talk about was the strange atmoshphere with no music and clearly despondent bar staff (who were very good indeed. Best cocktails...) A number of staff had also recently left.

We had a massage at the "spa" which is really only a small platform overlooking the hotel. It is not really a spa as such, and only offered 3 different massages. It cost approx £80 and unfortunately was not worth the money.

Asim is an excellent asset to Elixir, and is clearly working under difficult circumstances but does a wonderful job.

In summary, we really enjoyed our stay and also met some fantastic people. The location is second to none but you have to be prepared to pay high prices considering the food and spa is, in our opinion, below average.

This is my second trip to the Elixir Art Hotel in Bozburun (formerly Sabrina Haus). I travel all over the world with my children and when they are happy so am I. My husband, a discerning musician and writer, is very hard to please. Generally, he leaves the booking of holidays up to me. Last time, in May, I went with a couple of my girlfriends and we had such a wonderful time in their spa, I didn’t want to go home – the week was way too short, I thought someone had me of stolen a couple of days from me.

This time, 14th to 21st August found me introducing my husband and kids to what was now my sanctuary. I was a little nervous as I am aware that he can be intensely picky. From being picked up from the airport in a fab new Mercedes Benz private car from Elixir Holidays, the kids loved playing with the gadgets and watching the videos during the transfer, that was when I knew that I could begin to relax. That first night’s candle lit dinner was perfect – that chef can cook. The 3 course meal was fab. The buffet – let’s just say that their generousity with their portions was very satisfying to the hungriest. I’m sure that this chef is able to compete with some of London’s best and if they’re not careful, will be nicked. I sent hubby to the spa the next day and it was precious to see the silly grin on his face. My 16 y.o liked the boat so much he kept looking for excuses to ‘go into town’. In the end I think they must have adopted him as he was rarely around. It’s a pity they’re not having young children next year because I think it will be a great haven for tired and harassed parents. The people staying at the same time we did were such good and enjoyable company that I hope that they return at the same time of year we do.

Elixir Art is a gem that should ideally remain hidden but sometimes we have to be unselfish and pass something like this on. I must admit that I was really nervous about the previous write ups as they had happened since the last time I went but am really glad I didn’t listen too much. Okay, the prices: Some of the wines were on par with London and some cheaper. The cheapest were beers and Turkey has some great ones so no need to go over the top. The hotel’s restaurant’s menu is so good and the quality is such a high standard that I had no quibble with the prices – to me they were standard. Local drinks and juices are very reasonable almost costing nothing but I find that the shops can also be pricey in the end it all comes down to what you’re looking for on holiday. I just feel that I’ve got to be honest here. It’s horses for courses. If you want a super time with a fab spa and great food. This is the place for you. Well done Elixir Art and not to mention Elixir Holidays. To each their own but by the end my family felt that they had been rejuvenated and were happy to go back to school and work – some of us ready to face the normal world.

Do go into the village for the occasional meal. We went with Elixir Holidays but there may be others that go there as well.

We stayed for a week 14th-21st August at Sabrina's Haus aka Elixir Art. I was slightly worried when we arrived that it wouldn't be "for us" but I felt like a different person after 24 hours there and would recommend it to all of my friends for a chilled, relaxing break.

It is a small hotel in what feels like the middle of nowhere. Breakfast and afternoon tea (both delicious and delightful) are included as well as free shuttle boats twice a day to to village which has everything you could need and more. The other reviews are right in that you are dependent on the hotel's bar and restaurant..it isn't self catering but isn't this the norm for most secluded hotels? It is very easy to jump on a boat (or walk to adjacent restaurant) for meals away from the hotel but the standard of cooking and prices were comparable if not more competitive with the local places. Wine is highly taxed in Turkey and can be costly even in the supermarkets we found.
Asim Ozugul was a wonderful person to deal with and I wanted to take him home with me. Great attention to detail and very respectful of people's need for privacy and peace. Our Elixir rep Figen at the hotel was very sweet and came with us on a special day out in the divine Elixir mercedes to KNIDOS and Datca (highly recommended for the archaeologists out there).
BTW..we stayed in Palm and our 3 daughters 11,14 and 16 slept across the deck in ORANGE. If i went again I'd want a room with a larger deck perhaps with a sun lounger on a higher deck but it wasn't really an issue. i loved our room, bathroom and "bathroom". I slept well, everything worked and the 5 of us only spent about £750 at the end of the week on meals(lunch and 5 dinners), drinks extra water taxis which isn't bad for what it was. You don't have to keep signing all the time (just once a day) and there are plenty of places to sit/swim etc. We didn't use the spa but people who did said the massages were excellent. Thank you Sabrina's Haus and all who work there. Thank you to Elixir holidays too..we were made to feel very special and cared for.
