“Cosy hideaway with outstanding food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2010

We stayed at Tudor cottage for 2 nights. We wanted a break away and a chance to go walking on Exmoor. We weren't disappointed. We had booked dinner at the cottage and Frank cooked us up a treat. It was really outstanding food, I would recommend it highly.

The cottage is lovingly cared for, clean, cosy and full of character. It is quite home crafty and a bit frilly so if you like minimal décor this isn't for you.

The location is ideal, really close to the coast and Bossington itself is gorgeous.

My girlfriend and I (both under 35) spent a couple of wonderfully relaxing nights at Tudor Cottage. Our room was beautifully cosy (with fresh milk and melt-in-the mouth home-baked shortbread waiting for us in the corner) and the bathroom clean, hygienic, and with a good shower.

Whilst Tudor Cottage has a self-contained guests' area, we really felt welcomed into Frank and Lesley's home, and they even phoned the local Tea Room to offer to pick us up when the rain started pouring down half-way through our walk. Nice touch!

Bossington is a lovely and very quiet National Trust village, with more horses than cars as through-traffic, and you're only a quick walk to the dramatic local countryside or beautiful dark pebble beach. The seclusion and countryside setting was fantastic, but we did do the 20 minute walk to Porlock to grab a meal one night and had a some great food in the 'Piggy In The Middle' restaurant. That said, I was glad we were tucked away in Bossington rather than staying in the rather touristy Porlock.

Last but certainly not least, breakfast is varied, plentiful and delicious. The cooked version is made with local ingredients and void of grease!

In short, if you're looking to visit the area, and you want a quintessentially English B+B, some peace and quiet, and to be really well looked after, this is your place!

Myself and my boyfriend, and my brother and his girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights and have a fantastic stay ! We could not have wished for better. Tudor Cottage is in a picture perfect village called Bossington and was exactly as I had imagined it. Upon arrival Frank welcomed us into the cottage and showed us to our rooms. Me and my partner had a lovely double room with seperate shower / washroom and my brother had a lovely en-suite bathroom. Both rooms were an excellent size and were beautifully presented. Our shower / washroom was a fair size with an electric power shower which was great. My brothers en-suite bathroom had a bath with a shower over the top. Both rooms were light and airy with all original features of a 17th century cottage. The beds were extremely comfortable, especially after a long day walking in the countryside or doing an Exmoor safari like we did ! The surrounding area and village are picturesque with some good walks and beautiful scenery. There is a tea room in the village but we did not see this open during our stay. The nearest village is Porlock which is about 1.5 miles, and Tudor Cottage provide torches for the walk back down the dark country lanes which all adds to the experience. In the mornings we was awoken by the smell of a lovely cooked breakfast and the sound of horses passing by the windows. Breakfast was prepared by Frank and was delicious. Can recommend the veggie sausages as they was superb, and was made of Tarragon and Mushroom mix, absolutely fantastic. Overall I cannot recommend this BnB enough and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately return in the future. Thank you Tudor Cottage !

My husband and I stayed at Tudor Cottage in Nov 2006.
It is an old manor decorated with all modern amenities The decor is cozy, and luxurious with a great eye for detail. Breakfast was excellent. The house is set in the small village of Bossington from where you can enjoy long drives or walks in the beautiful moors of Devon. If you are looking for a romantic place to relax and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the surrounding countryside this is definately the place to go to.
