We spent 3 nights in Drumannon cottage attached to Bush Nook B&B. We were made very welcome by both Jenny and Malcolm who are really friendly and were on hand with suggestions of places to eat out, walks and places to see in the area. The cottage is lovely, very cosy and well equipped. We missed out on the breakfast welcome pack another reviewer mentioned, we only had milk which Jenny brought on arrival. We had brought our own food anyway and I'm sure if we'd mentioned it they would have obliged. There was a lovely apple pie in the cottage on arrival which was a nice touch and there was plenty of coffee sachets and assorted teas on offer which would have lasted a good few days. We were invited to use the hot tub which we thought was only for B&B customers and even offered the use of cossie's and bathrobes as we hadn't brought our own.
If you want to spend exploring Hadrian's Wall we highly recommend Drumannon cottage.

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Bush Nook, my apologies for the lost breakfast pack, we normally supply breakfast packs for full week stays. It was remiss of me not to have considered this for your stay, its a helpful reminder to focus on guest expectataions.

Just had a great half term break at Bush Nook. The self-catering apartment (Drumannon Cottage) is adjacent to the main house so it was ideal for our family of 4 as grannie could stay in her own room with en suite bathroom in the B&B part.

Malcolm was incredibly hospitable and welcoming and flexible giving a discount on the B&B rate as we were cooking breakfast for everyone in the cottage. We were also impressed by having a sample of the local bacon, sausages, black pudding and eggs left in the fridge for the first morning - all delicious.

The cottage was very well equipped, decorated and heated. Just need to be organised with food as quite a way to pubs or shops - but that is part of the charm of the area for us townies!

Bush Nook is a short drive from Birdoswald, Housesteads, Vindolanda and we also loved the Roman gallery in the Tullie House museum in Carlisle.

Hot tub in the grounds was a hit for the whole family - glad we'd read about it here and took our swimsuits.

Can thoroughly recommend to anyone heading to this wonderful part of the world.

Room Tip: Drumannon Cottage had plenty of room for family of 4

Fantastic, welcoming, comfortable, helpful, relaxing, wonderful breakfasts....
I sound somewhat bias, but we found this gem of a place a while ago, and had such a great stay, we have it firmly on our top favourite B&B's anywhere ever.... You will not be disappointed with a stay here, can't wait to get back... Even better with the new huge hot tub addition!

This is what English B+B's should be like! A great place to stay; I wonder who was responsible for the décor of the bedrooms? They are just lovely! Great breakfast too.
We just feel awful having made Malcolm drive us to and fro but since there is no restaurant nearby ...

After our b&b let us down, a soggy and tired heavily pregnant lady, her sister and her 4 month old niece were left stranded whilst walking. Malcolm came to our rescue, he picked us up, drove us to the b&b, made sure we had eaten and was very hospitable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, good selection of drinks and nibbles. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice, vegetarians easily catered for. Would highly recommend and stay here again.

We wanted to visit Hadrians Wall and see a Roman Fort when in Carlile, picked the Bush Nook out of the tourist brochure in the afternoon and telephoned. Accommodation was available and was asked if we would like dinner as they were preparing an evening meal for some other guests. My wife and I agreed to the meal. The meals were excellent and the cottage pie was something to die for - best ever tasted - and we travel a lot. What a wonderful experience the Bush Nook B&B was. Clean, beautifully presented, a happy proprietor and family, nothing's a problem attitude and friendly. Can highly recommend it. You may need your GPS to home in on it. Brian from Wellington NZ

We stayed one night during our walking trip and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm welcome and comfortable accommodation. The proprietors are lovely people who will provide you with all you could reasonably want or need. If they are unable to provide an evening meal they will give you a lift to and from the pub in Gilsland where good grub is available. The hot tub is great in any weather. You can enjoy a beer or wine whilst soothing those aching limbs. Fabulous.
