Other reviewers have said it all really. We stayed a couple of nights recently and found the setting, accommodation and breakfasts as near perfect as you could find. The extra special ingredient was the relaxed friendliness and good humour of the hosts, not forgetting their ever-cheerful helper Brenda.

We rented the cottage at Bush Nook for two nights to walk 40 miles of Hadrian's Wall for charity over two days. Malcolm at Bush Nook was incredibly helpful when I booked and really nice at helping me plan the logistics. We drove up from London and arrived to a warm welcome and the beautiful tranquility of Bush Nook! The cottage is lovely. Just what we needed! At 6am Malcolm was kind enough to drive us 26 miles away so we could walk back along the wall. He smiled and chatted and gave us advice and encouragement all the while and sweetly tweeted/facebooked to tell people to give us a friendly cheer if they spotted us in our pink t shirts. He also sweetly donated to the charity we were walking for. Nothing was too much trouble. Bush Nook itself is lovely with good rooms, a lovely breakfast room and fab garden, and a v v sweet dog! The hot tub at the end of the first day was absolute heaven. Thank you for a really great stay. You could not have made us feel more welcome and you could not have been more helpful. I highly recommend it to anybody. It's got to be the friendliest b&b you could find. Thank you Malcolm!

We spent a couple of nights in Bush Nook for a well needed short break. The welcome was brilliant - the perfect mix of friendliness with the recognition that people need time to relax. Malcolm and his wife are constantly cheerful and are brilliant hosts, knowledgeable about the area and helping all their guests make the most of their stay. The rooms are well appointed and the whole place is geared towards helping people to relax. I cannot recommend this highly enough!

On arrival we were served tea and biscuits in the comfy conservatory with stunning views. Our room was nice and very quiet, the bed comfortable and good powerful shower in the en-suite bathroom, with generous amounts of quality toiletries. We enjoyed a lovely home cooked lasagne followed by coffee cake and icecream in the evening which was eaten around a big table shared with other guests. A friendly atmosphere was helped by the honesty bar in the adjoining room! Breakfast was huge, freshly cooked to order and featuring local produce. Unfortunately we only had one night to spend here as I would happily have stayed the week.

At age 80, I have wanted to walk the wall for many years. My brother and I walked the middle third, which is the most spectacular, and a lot of up and down. But we had more fun, and more enjoyment at Bush Nook during our six days there than we had on the Wall. Guests ate together and shared ideas together, with delightful input from hosts Malcolm and Jenny. Would that all B & B's could be like this one!

I do like the concept that we are more fun that the "wall", we count ourselves lucky to meet week on week, during the season with such wonderful characters, who can be either fun, opinionated and intelligent, sometimes even all at the same time.!

8.00am Sunday morning just after finishing "The Wall" 69 mile race the night before. Relaxing in the hot tub with a glorious view and blue skies AND the wonderful aroma of another legendary Malcolm breakfast - could it get much better!!!! Thanks to Malcolm and Jenny for a perfect place to be.

Stayed for 2 nights during the "run the wall" event that my friend was competing in; This is an excellent establishment which is busy but relaxed with nice attention to detail. There are a good range of rooms to suit most needs and you can even hire electric bikes for the hills!

Stayed in the bunk house which is a small cottage with 6 beds (bunk) and would suit those who wish to self-cater. Alternatively there is the full B&B experience with brilliant food and the views over the surrounding countryside are fantastic. Hot tub in the garden is a nice surprise and the building has real character; nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend this place to anyone going walking, cycling or just as a quiet base to use and explore the surrounding area. This is Hadrians Wall country and quite a few significant sites are reasonably close.

A+

Room Tip: If you want the self-catering experience or are in larger group the small "bunk" cottage i...

Cheers and thanks for your kind words, the "run the wall" made the weekend some what different.

The bunk house is a new element for the Bush Nook experience and seems to work well for small groups and families.
