Malcom and Jenny were wonderful hosts, as were their dogs, Madge and Luka. It was a wonderful country respite with comfortable rustic accommodations and a fabulous breakfast. Malcom generously gave us a ride to/from town to meet up with the rest of our traveling party for dinner. I only wish that our entire group of 8 could have all stayed at Bush Nook! There was plenty of room to accommodate us. Don't miss this historic home tucked away just outside of Gilsland!

Lovely place almost in middle of nowhere. Very friendly and helpful host. and gave space for bike storage too. Wifi not great in outer accommodation but we were there to enjoy the countryside - not the internet. Very personal and prompt breakfast service..

Room Tip: Not sure what this means?

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Bush Nook, sadly with the beauty of isolation our 4G WiFi can be a little variable from time to time, sometimes it doesn't even make it to G. Good luck with onward cycling holidays.

Loved this home away from home. Beautiful stone house, very roomy and comfortable. Malcolm is a really good host and a star in the kitchen. Breakfast was incredible. Lovely and quiet with stunning views

Our host provided a friendly and quick pick up from the village. We were shown to our room which was well appointed with new fixtures and fittings and spacious. The bathroom and shower were modern and excellent quality with nice soaps and bubble bath. Our host provided a superb taxi service to the pub that evening which was well arranged. He worked so hard. Unfortunately the downside to the stay was the quality of the building itself, creeky floors and paper thin walls. This made of a fitful night’s sleep. In summary, a host who works and tries hard but let down by the building.

Thank you for taking time to review Bush Nook and your stay with us. We appreciate your kind comments and very positive feed back.

Unfortunately the creaky floors I can do little about, its part of the structural quirkiness of the old building we call Bush Nook, it was built in 1760 and like me is showing its age. I am sorry it lead to a fitful nights sleep. If you had mentioned it on leaving I could have at the very least have apologised and offered some small financial compensation.

The hospitality of Malcolm was wonderful.
I almost never give an excellent review. Bush Nook definitely deserves one.
The breakfasts were personalized and delicious.
The rooms were clean, large, and comfortable.
