“Perfect - Thank you Denise!”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

This was our second visit to Brookside Villa and it won't be our last, we love it! My boyfriend and I went last year for my birthday and returned again this year with 2 friends. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. Denise could not be more accommodating, she is a really lovely lady. The food is gorgeous, it is definitely worth staying there for your evening meal. The complimentary prosecco was a lovely touch for my birthday. We had the perfect relaxing weekend, thanks Denise.

Great B & B, whisky with our porridge!! Great way to start the day. Didn't have to walk far for a drink after a long hard day which was great. Over and beyond the call of duty driving us to Carlisle to buy new boots as the other ones were carput! Lovely bedroom and lounge. Hope you enjoy your visit to NZ!

Stayed here as first stop riding the Hadrian's Cycleway as a family. A perfect B&B with everything thought of; boot hangers and complimentary slippers in the porch, drying facilities, information and an amazingly well stocked bar - soft drinks, snacks, local beers and range of wine. Bedrooms were great. Well appointed clean and tastefully decorated rooms, comfortable beds, quiet, range of teas and coffee, hanging space well thought out and lovely ensuite bathrooms. Breakfast was superb with a fantastic choice of cereals, fruit, drinks and hot cooked breakfast. Tracey, deputising for the owners couldn't do enough for us and even provided a very welcome lift home from our pub meal in the evening when the rain was pouring. Would happily return.

The perfect b&b. Ideal location, beautiful surroundings and great hospitality.

The owners were away during our visit, but Tracey was a perfect hostess, cooking lovely breakfasts and acting as a taxi service to drop us off and pick us up,as well as giving advice on where to eat, walk etc.

100% recommended.

My son and I stayed here one night. A perfect place. Owneres helped us with our next place to sleep, really great. And her advice to walk just nine miles the next day was also important. So much to see! The next time I visit this area, I sure know where to sleep.

My partner and I stayed at Brookside Villa for the middle two nights of a tour of the North of England. We arrived exhausted to a warm welcome from the host Denise, who showed us to what was easily the best room we stayed in all week. He always likes skylights, and we were both taken with the comfy king-sized bed! In the morning she was happy to help us figure out a plan of attack for walking (bits of) the wall, and even lent us a walking guidebook.

Breakfast was definitely a highlight - your standard B&B full english, done exceptionally well. I loved the strawberry jam best of all, and my boyfriend says try the black pudding! Dinner is also available but we ate out both nights at the Samson Inn, a ten minute walk away, and would highly recommend it. We ordered packed lunches on our second day and they were lovely too.

If you're looking to see Hadrian's Wall, we'd definitely recommend staying here and would be happy to return if we ever get the chance!

Room Tip: The top floor room is amazing! (Room 3, we think?) Skylights everywhere!

This is somewhere really special. Apart from the beautiful ensuite bedrooms, there is an attractive lounge overlooking the garden and as Brookside has a licence, the added pleasure of relaxing with a drink. However, the real star of Brookside is Denise and her cooking. This is really very fine indeed, with evening meals available as well as breakfasts and packed lunches. I would go there just for the food!
