We ate here on a whim one evening as we were staying nearby. Our meal was so good that we instantly booked for Sunday lunch the following day. I'll start by saying that all the food was very good but that was not the thing which impressed me most.
Instead I loved the atmosphere and ethos.
The atmosphere is low-key, warm and friendly - starting with the lovely front-of-house manager. The is a nice 'buzz' but also a feeling that anyone and everyone is welcome: this is not (thank god) reserved only for Sienna Miller et al. We say grandparents entertaining grandchildren, fathers and sons and dating couples: all welcome. I love that.
The ethos is equally commendable as they appear keen to be part of their community. As we were eating, the pizza oven was serving a regular flow of takeaway orders for local residents. Equally, at Frome market, we saw locals picking up their home-made bread at a store.
I really respect the fact that this business hasn't just imposed itself on Bruton, but appears integrated into it.
