“Comfort Personified”
Reviewed 6 July 2012

We have visited the Brick House many times over the past fifteen years, the most recent was in June 2012, and it is consistently good. The rooms have very comfortable beds and the bathrooms have been upgraded. The towels are top quality - lovely and thick and soft. The breakfasts have plenty of variety and the food is cooked to order. I have always been served the perfect poached egg. The bar is well stocked and it is the only one we have visited where you help yourself and pay for it when you settle your bill. True Old World Charm. The area surrounding the Brick House is both beautiful and peaceful, so much so that we have now moved from Lancashire to live down here. Thank you Christine for all your hospitality. We probably will not need to stay here again but we will certainly recommend you to anyone visiting this area.

Room Tip: We have slept in most of the bedrooms over the years and we can't find fault with any of them

We have just returned from a three night stay here and I have to write and compliment this Guest House on its service and Comfort. From when we first arrived until our departure we were treated like "Royalty"!!!!
Christine was just the "Perfect" Hostess!!!
The rooms are very comfortable in every way...Nice beds and the whole place is immaculate!!!
Two very nice Lounge area's downstairs, one with a large TV...But TV in the bedroom also. There is a small Bar also downstairs and snacks or Dinner are available.
The Guest House is situated half way between Chepstow and Newport and is in a very quiet area....lots of walking and cycling routes.
There is a very good Pub within walking distance called "The Rose" where we ate on 2 evenings and was very good.
All in all a lovely stay was had by all...Christine as i say made the stay just PERFECT!!!!!
I have NO Complaints whatsoever and will return!!!!

I have been staying at the Brick House Country Guest House for more than 4 years on a regular basis and fully recommend it. It is wonderfully located only minutes from the M4, but still in the heart of the historic Gwent Levels' countryside. The hotel is a stately country house, swathed in Virginia Creeper and is high quality and comfortable. The owners are friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. Over the years I have been staying at Brick House, much upgrading of facilities and decor has been carried out, and the owners continually make further improvements.
The bedrooms are all recently decorated, spacious and comfortable, and hot drinks trays are provided. There is everything you could want and more for breakfast. Outside, the walled garden is sumptuous, and the magnolia tree in spring is not to be missed.
For walkers and birdwatchers, the area is a must, with the sea wall walk only minutes away, and many local nature reserves, including the fabulous Newport Wetlands. And only around 15 minutes from Newport, and not much more than 30 minutes to Bristol or Cardiff, Brick House is ideal and reasonably priced, and suits me perfectly whether I'm on business or on holiday.

Friendly, homely & an excellent breakfast with some lovely touches eg home-made marmalade etc.
Noisy, plumbing which was a bit of a pain first thing in the early morning!!!
No tea-tray, had to ask.
Beds comfy & all rooms clean.

This hotel was very good. The building was originally built in the 1400s but the main facade was constructed in about 1796. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The floors creak! Our main gripe was that there was no tea - making facilities in the rooms. One is expected to ask for tea on a tray!
