Called in without booking at about 6pm. It was quiet at this time but within a hour quite a few tables were filled. Low music played in the background.
I ate from the 2 courses for £12.50 menu and hubby ate from the main menu .
2 carrot and coriander soups.
Well presented with unusual shape bowl on a wooden server with 2 slices of crusty baguette. We asked for butter & a glass jar with ample REAL butter was quickly brought. Very nice indeed- no seasoning required, fresh parsley on the top.
I had lasagne & chips- again very nice. The chips looked different to what I've had before and I'm not sure if they were hand cut or not- whatever - they were lovely!
Husband had pork in a sauce with battered Aubergine & leeks in a light crispy batter and creamed potatoes came as an accompaniment .
3 chunks of tender pork in what he says was an "outstanding" sauce. There was a good serving of sauce too- no skimping!!
We didn't really want dessert as we were both very full but couldn't resist a peep at the "menu"
The young waitress brought an array of desserts with flags in telling us what they were! What a lovely "menu"!!
Well what they eyes saw the belly wanted so we shared one.
Salted caramel donut cheesecake, again beautifully presented with drizzles of caramel, chocolate shapes, a raspberry ruffle chocolate and 2 fresh raspberries. It was delicious.
With a large glass of Pinot Grigio and a pint of lager the bill was just under £50.
A lovely midweek treat!
The waitresses and bar staff were very polite and checked each course was ok & that we had sufficient drinks- nothing was too much trouble.
I won't leave it so long before I go again!
Oh and we just booked our Christmas 2016 party there too!!
