Before writing this it must be noted that I write as one of those who stayed here but under the care of the Hotel Residence below. We were also unable to test the pool facilities etc due to weather.
These apartments are very nice. They mostly catch the sun, are very spacious and in general terms seem to be very clean. With decent planning and (unlike with us) awareness that you are going here as opposed to somewhere else, these could serve perfectly well as a nice relaxing hub for a holiday for youngish couples and families.
I use the word youngish for good reason. These apartments are not easy to get to. The way up to them (seemingly the only way) is by going quite some way up a very steep hill before you actually get to the apartment blocks. Even trying to get to them from the hotel requires them opening what appears to be a side door and then climbing a lot of steps and a bit of the hill. For younger/fitter people this might be perfectly fine, but otherwise this could (and did) cause some problems for walking to and from the hotel below, nevermind further afield.
The other problem was that the place itself was very sparse in terms of utilities. There was a fully functioning washing machine, iron and board, oven, stove, TV. All fine. However, the one clock in the entire place did not work and there were no bedside clocks at all. Nor were there any bedside lamps. Again, this can be overlooked and, if prepared, you could easily bring along a travel clock etc. But for the price and idea, you would expect the place to me more complete in terms of this sort of thing.
Finally, as with the whole country it seems, there was a feeling of being located on a building site. Constant construction noises from what may have been an extension to the hotel below, a couple of hours drilling right into the wall of our apartment starting somewhere between 8 and 9 in the morning. Even if we could have been relaxing in the sun, the noise would have almost been enough to chase us away.
Thankfully the staff we did deal with, and indeed the owner, were pleasant enough.
In general terms, these are nice apartments and there is not really anything to complain about as such. However these sorts of issues mentioned above did make it a little less luxury than might have been hoped.
