Description: La Bussola have relocated to the site of the old Tides Restaurant on the beachfront at Dutchman's Bay. You will not be disappointed by this versatile venue offering a welcoming dining room with plenty of character and charm, two breezy, open-plan verandahs, with relaxed seating areas all surrounded by lush tropical gardens set against an Atlantic Ocean backdrop. Family-run by brothers, Chef Omar and Host Cristian Tagliaventi who grew up in the Umbrian countryside of Italy. Their passion ensures every dish is prepared with the spirit of authentic Italian cooking and culture. La Bussola serves only the finest meats and seafood, freshest vegetables, and bread that is baked daily on the premises. The good value à la carte lunch and dinner menus mix tradition with innovation. Classic Calamari with homemade Marina sauce, Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio with fresh spinach and Parmesan and Beef Scaloppini with lemon sauce sit side by side with Caribbean inspired Lionfish fillet with cherry tomatoes and Lobster Thermidor. They are the first restaurant in Antigua to have lionfish on the menu year round. The informal pizza menu served for lunch and dinner continues to win many fans who repeatedly tuck into thin and crispy, hand-stretched, stonebaked Italian pizzas and calzones. Amongst guests favourites are the Badia topped with grilled chicken, sweet peppers and garlic sauce and the meat-eaters paradise The Spada - topped with ham, pepperoni, Italian sausage and chicken. With a fantastic, fun atmosphere, the bar at La Bussola is second to none. It possesses one of Antigua's largest bar collections, with of over 300 spirits and liqueurs from all around the world. Not to be outdone, their cosmopolitan wine list features over 100 wines, champagnes and sparkling wines specialising in a diverse regional range from Italy. The new restaurant is the perfect location for private events, corporate parties, and intimate social gatherings with functional seating arrangements which can accommodate up to 100 persons. The friendly team await your visit soon

“La Bussola atmosphere exceeded expectations”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

After trying to find the restaurant for several minutes we returned to our hotel and asked directions. It was still a hidden gem but we were so happy we found it. 4 of us had dinner, two ordered fish and two of us ordered chicken.
The service was slow (american stds) but good. Waitress brought fresh bread and butters to the table. We feel this is one of the best places to eat on the island of Antigua.

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

Just back from having fabulous dinner in a beautiful setting. One of the best seafood pastas I've ever had. Warm friendly service. Just down the same road as Majestic Isle Casino close to Sandals.

“non male, not bad”

Refined and elegant, friendly and considerate in their simplicity '. Tasty and colorful. Swift and attentive staff. Air conditioned, sober, but an enjoyable one. Priced right and ragonevole. Congratulations to all the staff.

“Idyllic”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

The restaurant is on the beach with open verandahs. It is run by two brothers one of whom supervises front of house and the other works in the kitchen ( though not on the night we were there).

We both started with sauté of black mussels in champagne sauce after which I had the lobster and my wife the spaghetti with seafood. All the food was well prepared but the real joy for me was talking through the wine list with the affable proprietor who clearly has a love a knowledge on the subject. There are 2 Gavi's on the list and we ended up with the more expensive one which I was assured was the best Gavi on the Island - I have no reason to disagree. Lovely setting really good food and wine - thoroughly recommended

“Decent Italian Cuisine”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

The food was alright but nothing special. The host (Cristian) was very accommodating and social. I had the margarita pizza and the tuna(sent the tuna back because it was tough and not great). I replaced it with the stuffed chicken which was pretty good. The bar was pretty well stocked and had a lot of different choices and some unique drink options. If you want a beach front open air restaurant and are in the mood for Italian, then it is a fair choice but don't go crazy trying to get there.
