“Paradise with a Do Not Disturb sign!”
Reviewed 29 August 2010

If you are the type of person who enjoys limbo contests by the pool and partying until dawn, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking to get away from it all to relax and enjoy nature’s Caribbean pleasures, this is most definitely the place for you.

We have just returned from our honeymoon at Jumby Bay and cannot express how absolutely wonderful it was – more than we ever expected. After 8 days at the resort, we were trying to figure out how we might reschedule our normal lives to stay longer.

The resort is simply beautiful with every amenity you can think of right at your finger tips. Between the pools, the beaches, the water sport activities, the nature reserve, and the daily activities provided by the hotel, there is never a loss for something to do.

At other resorts you need to literally put up the Do Not Disturb sign so that vendors or hotel services are not hounding you to purchase items or sign up for activities. That is absolutely not the case at Jumby Bay. All the activities you would find elsewhere are readily available to you on the island or can be arranged through Guest Services. But it is up to you to notify them what you would like to do. And all it takes is one sentence, “I would like to…” and – poof – everything is arranged.

But the best part is that if you choose to do nothing at all, you could do so in the most amazing tranquil environment possible. And I am no stranger to the Caribbean having been traveling throughout the region for 30 years since I was 8 years old…

As an all inclusive hotel, we were concerned we might be bored with the food selections by the end of our trip but no worries here. Menus change daily and the chef will make you anything you desire upon request. And everything was so delicious we ordered several dishes we enjoyed multiple times during our holiday. We even had our very own lesson to make some of these delicious meals by attending Chef Juan’s cooking class! This was one of many personal elements of the Jumby Bay experience.

The staff became like family always available and eager to please but not overly attentive as to be distracting. Elaine and Genevieve were witty and playful with conversations always ending in hearty laughter and hugs. Maureen and the rest of the restaurant staff were always pleasant making sure your every culinary wish was attended to. The housekeeping staff was unobtrusive yet caring making kind gestures throughout our stay especially Latoya. Guest Services were always available and patient helping you with every request. Melinda and Rita topped off the experience with their energy and charisma.

The spa was glorious! I, as well as other guests, started our trips with one schedule visit and ended up making many more. Jacqueline definitely has magic in her hands.

Overall I would recommend Jumby Bay to anyone who is looking for pure and simply relaxation and tranquility in paradise. Kudos to the Jumby Bay team for providing such an amazing experience. We are already figuring out when we might return!

There were 10 members of the family ranging in age from 2 - 63 celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. The island is beautiful and quiet. Even though the hotel was said to be full we saw almost no one. We run round the island each morning as the sun rose and the family slept. Shower. Breakfast, read, swim in one of the three pools or the calm sea. Shower. Lunch. Snooze. Read. Swim. Shower. Sundowners. Supper. Sleep. We kept this up for 14 days and could have gone on far longer. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Such a beautiful localtion. There is still more work to do on the food which is not as good as one would expect for such a high class resort.

We went to Jumby Bay on the second week of our honeymoon after staying a week at Little Dix Bay and stayed in a beautiful Beachside Courtyard Suite. The new rooms are seriously over the top and gorgeous. Our jaws dropped when we first got there. We also loved cycling around the island on the bikes reserved for us. I do have to say though that the service was lacking. We shouldn't have to seek out waiters on the beach for drink refills when we're paying over $1000/night. That was a real disappointment after staying at Four Seasons resorts where you have to fend off the service! Also the beach was pretty much unswimmable. We enjoyed snorkelling so much in the Virgin Islands and this beach was just full of sea grass and not much sea life to speak of. I only saw some starfish and a few small fish during my stay. We did enjoy our meals here and especially loved lunches at the Pool Grille and a cooking class with the Executive Chef. We couldn't believe we were the only ones to show up for the class! We still use those recipes here at home. The spa was also great but not as amazing as LDB. We of course still had a great time and the digs were luxurious but we had a better time at half the price at LDB and neither were on par with the service of a Four Seasons. Overall we really splurged to pay extra for Jumby Bay and the service and beach just weren't what we were looking for.

Dear London93,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort. We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your accommodations and the private island experience that is Jumby Bay. Touring our island on our iconic bikes is a favorite pass-time of our guests and we are happy you were able to enjoy that part of classic Jumby Bay life. The suite, the spa and the new display kitchen are all part of a recent renewal effort to create a world-class guest experience.

Regarding our beach, we apologize that your beach experience did not meet your expectations. At Jumby Bay we take great care and pride in preserving our natural environment. We do have a natural abundance of starfish and other small fish living amongst the sea grass just off the beach. The sea grass is an integral part of the environment as it protects the area surrounding the beach just off the shores of Jumby Bay. To experience more underwater sea life we offer complimentary snorkel trips twice a week for our guests.

Regarding our beach service, we try to serve our guests on the beach as unobtrusively as possible, however at no time do we ever want to make our guests feel unattended. We appreciate your concern that our rates are expensive though we are a fully-inclusive resort, however, we do not accept this as an excuse for poor service. We will be sure to share this concern with our team to improve our level of service.

Again we thank you for visiting us and posting your comments, and we would truly be happy to welcome you back to Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort.

Kind regards,

Andrew Hedley

Has been to many properties which sells similar priced products but Jumby Bay beats them all. My five year old son had a blast. We would definitely save in our favourites folder for we plan on visiting again.
Thanks to all the lovely staff who took such great care of us for our little weekend get away.

Just returned from a stay at Jumby Bay. The facilities were fantastic. Service was great. The quality of food/drinks was very good. I have stayed at a number of high-end resorts in the Caribbean and this is one place I will be going back to. We stayed in one of the new beach-side suites and could not be more satisfied. The room was fantastic, and in fact, much better than the website pictures. All staff were extremely friendly and eager to please. Can't think of any significant negatives. Jumby Bay is relatively expensive, but I truly felt like we received good value. If you are looking for an exciting night life this is not the place to go. If you are looking for top-notch service, great food, a beautiful, relaxing location and fantastic facilities this place is well worth the cost.

Just returned from a honeymoon trip to Jumby Bay. Thank you to the staff for the best beach trip i've had in a decade! To put things in perspective, I moved to NY 6 yrs ago and grew up from a beach - beach - beach sort of country and have not found a truly relaxing, satisfying beach holiday venue within 4 hrs flight from NY until now. To satisfy a beach urge, I have to fly back to asia for powder white sand and top notch service. The pool suite, meals, cocktails, location, service, spa treatments, pools, tennis courts and snorkling activites were all excellent. This is a no jetski establishment so think of Jumby bay as an unwind location, not a spring break venue. The renovations were amazing. We stayed in a similar suite to Kat from NY.
This is not a Riu all inclusive. This is a new standard of luxury and if you value your holiday time, you should come to Jumby bay. The best part about rosewood is they don't take chances - they take the extra mile to please a guest and are truly old school (which is a true perk in this age of electronic communication). Dont mind any negative reviews - especially with regard to bugs or anything that comes with island experiences. The infinity pool and private pool in the suite is more than enough to compensate for any quality that the beach may have to prevent you from swimming. Cant wait for the next trip :)

Hello luiserns,

Thank you for your review. I'm glad to read that you had an amazing time at Jumby! It means so much to hear that you found your beach vacation to be the best in 10 years. Jumby has a beautiful, natural beach and calm, pristine waters. As you said with several suites having private pools, and a choice of our new infinity pool, the 25 meter lap pool, or our beautifully calm waters, swimmer's should have an excellent time. I am also happy to read that you were able to utilize many of our amenities including our brand new spa. We can't wait to have you back at Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort!

Warmest Greetings,

From the moment we boarded Jumby Bay's own catamaran to be whisked across the perfect blue ocean to the island, we knew this was going to be the experience of a lifetime.

Wonderfully attentive staff, incredible location, amazing room and facilities, food that was out of this world and some of the best cocktails I've ever had made this week unforgettable.

Ignore ANY negative feedback you might read about this resort, I would have no hesitation in stating that this was the BEST hotel I've ever had the privilege of staying at (and I've stayed in some pretty unreal 5* hotels all over the world).

You will not be disappointed - I promise you.
