My stay at the Hawksbill was very relaxing, perfect beach and water. Unlike other all-inclusives the property was not overrun by hordes of people/families and apart from the set meal times you felt free to do as you pleased with most of the beaches to yourself. Be warned of the nasty sand flies/fleas; I came back with dozens of bites from the almost invisible insects (did not realize I had been 'attacked' until the bites appeared). I was prepared for the mosquitoes at night but not for those pesky beach pests (note: seem to attack after one of the short rain spurts). I stayed in one of the air-conditioned cottages overlooking Honeymoon Cove; if you should have any issues with ants or other simply speak up and the staff will remedy the situation. Meals were average (fish always best), but the drinks were very good & strong (actual cocktails and real wine - nothing watered down here). Staff were helpful and friendly. Most of the guests were returning customers. The setting is spectacular and if you are simply looking to get away and lounge on the beach with a cocktail, swim, kayak or other then I recommend the Hawksbill.

Room Tip: air conditioned cottage if going doing hottest season, a must: bring and use insect repellant again...

Fantastic views but hotel has very tired and run down facilities. Swimming pool very small - more of a plunge pool in size. At the time of our visit there were very few guests so consequently no atmosphere. Food was of a poor standard and not buffet style as expected. Sea view rooms have mosquito netting and shutter walls, therefore very little privacy and difficult to block out wildlife sounds from the wooded areas at night.

My wife and i would love to express our gratitude to the management and staff of the Hawksbill resort for their excellent customer service. We felt so welcomed and could not ask for better. Whether housekeeper, bartender, waitress, chef, reception etc, the love was felt in EVERY department. Such warm smiles and kind words. Special thanks to Shenneth, Novella, Myra, Ornella, Claudette, Neva, Grecelda and all our bartenders. Regretfully we cant remember every name but to all heartfelt thanks and keep up the good work!

We returned again in March of 2013 this time for 10 days! We have no regrets. As I said before, if you are the type of person who needs to be constantly entertained then this is not the resort for you. If you are the kinds of person that wants to relax...kick back and enjoy the sun, then this is your place. The staff is great and friendly as all get out. We enjoy chatting with them...they work hard...long hours, but for the most part smile constantly. We will be back again Hawksbill....

If you love water sports and the most beautiful setting in the world with the most friendly and helpful staff - try this one. Let's get the negative out of the way, the buildings and infrastructure does need some t.l.c. and if you are looking for gourmet food I wouldn't recommend anywhere in the carribbean. However, we stayed in the bungalows on the first beach, which are well built and spacious. Air conditioned, kept beatifully clean with fresh flowers every day. We did have a problem with the plumbing (loo blocked after exeptional rain) but it was attended to immediately.
Breakfasts were delicious, with eggs cooked to order and a wide selection of cooked and cold food. The porridge is really good. Lunches served at the beack bar included a grill offering fish, meat and burgers, together with an extensive menu of freshly cooked foods including toasted sandwiches, freshly cooked tortilla chips, fries and salads. Afternoon teas also served here. Fresh sandwiches (always ham and cheese) and a variety of cakes. Dinner was either buffet style or served. The soups were the best for me and portions were on the small side, but I was never hungry having had huge breakfasts and lunch. The bar served the most fabulous cocktails with a special each day.
The real wow factor of this resort is the location, I think it is the best in the world. The extensive grounds covering 4 bays are beautifully kept with well kept lawns and named trees. The beaches were raked every day and were pristine. Because the beaches shelve into the sea, it would not be practical for toddlers. For older children and adults you can snorkel from one bay to the next, borrow gear from the hotel, including pedalos, kyaks and even a speed boat.
The weather was fabulous to say it was the beginning of the hurricane season! We had one day when it rained all day. The rest of the holiday was hot and sunny.
All the staff were helpful, friendly and cheerful. Being out of season, there was little in the way of entertainment, but as we were with family we made our own. It was the first vist of our daughter, son - in - law and 17 year old grandson who are absolutely in love with Hawksbill and are planning their next visit!
So a bit of a "marmite" resort, but if you love a quiet, beautiful location with a variety of water sports this really cannot be bettered.

Room Tip: Air conditioning is essential, particularly in the summer when it is very hot and humid.

This hotel has charm and warmth we have not experienced elsewhere. The Antiguan way of life is very relaxed and very soon that is how you feel once you have arrived. Sure, there are a few "tired " areas but this in no way detracts from the feeling and joy you experience at the hotel. Rooms are clean , staff are fantastic and the food is very tasty and varied. If you want a holiday full of character, relaxation and enjoyment in the most idyllic setting then please book this hotel. If you are thinking of getting married there (as we did) then do not hesitate. Ours was absolutely perfect and incredibly good value!! Claudette (our organiser) could not have been more helpful.
Don't wait. get booking!!

Room Tip: Beach club rooms all have air conditioning although other rooms have fans.

We have been to Hawksbill 10 times and this year saddened us. Whilst we loved the place for it's 'unspoilt' beauty and the grounds and beaches are absolutely lovely. the rest of the hotel has been let go with lack of investment over the years that now is almost in need of a complete rebuild in the main building, and a severe upgrade(well rather repair items that have needed repairing for years in the other buildings. Broken drain covers broken louvres on the window, torn mosquito netting under the louvres, broken tiles in the bathroom (they have been broken for the last 5 years that I know of) damaged fences.worn out covers on the beach chairs outside the cottages, Beds and pillows far far past there best, the outside of the cottages need painting. no premium brand drinks now, all unknown brands, food now, whilst never gourmet is now just poor, suppose the budget for the food and drink has been cut to save money, but whilst Hawksbill in not expensive it we pay upwards of £4500 for 12 days with flights, so for us it is not cheap and all that takes working for.
The staff who are so lovely are trying against the odds and many familiar faces are now missing. they must be saddened to see what is happening to this once lovely place.

We did speak with regional Rex directors who happened to be there at the time, and told them of how we feel, I hope they realise the extent of our anger and how we love this special place, and what they are doing to it (or rather not doing to it) upsets us greatly. All returners have known about the lease issues for years but now it is really affecting us, we meet our friends there each year, friends from all over the world who, like us, like what Hawksbill had to offer, but this year even us, the returners, were noticing the poor state of the buildings and the upkeep. If the returners see it, 1st timers would think twice about going back.

Rex are doing a disservice to the staff, Hawksbill itself and us, the customers, who have loved this place for so long.

We will not be gong next year as it will take time to update this lovely place and bring it back to its former self.

We only hope that the shades are taken off the eyes of the powers that be at Rex and listen to the people who love this place
