Spent 5 days there with the family in early March 2014 and loved it.

The waters of Dickenson Bay a wonderful blue and turquoise, with sun melting into the sea each dusk. We spent majority of our time at beach which features powdery white sand. Not much surf to speak of really (which can be good or bad), and no rocky coral outcrops to step around when you go for swim (which is good). Coconut Grove just a stone’s throw away for yummy fruit smoothies and crushes. If you like the ocean as a backdrop, no better place to eat than CG. The grounds themselves at the village are clean and well kept. In middle of complex, there is pool (crystal clear). People (guests and staff) are friendly … everybody says hello (could almost feel a sense of community here). Many thanks to Donny, Samantha, and staff for their wonderful hospitality. Look forward to our return one day. P.S. convenience store, I still owe you $3.50EC ... Grand Bay Casino, you owe me $50USD (inset wink here).

This was our second time at Antigua Village and we enjoyed ourselves even more this time! Our unit (16S) had been remodeled since our last visit in 2011, with stainless appliances and a newly tiled bath with new vanity and sink. This unit is poolside looking out to the sea, we enjoyed sitting on the patio in the afternoon.
The rooms are cleaned daily and the grounds are lush and well manicured.
We had NO trouble with "local beggars" as another reviewer stated on the beach...some locals do try to sell beaded items, beach cover ups, horseback rides, sailing trips, etc. but a kindly "no thank you" and they move right along.
The beach is narrow but beautiful and AV provides beach towels and a large number of lounges for guest use.
A car is helpful for trips around the island and to the Epicurian for groceries, but not necessary.
The music from Sandals next door could be heard from late afternoon, but ended around 10:30.
The staff at reception could be a bit friendlier, but they were not rude.
All in all, AV is a good bargain. We will be returning soon!

The first room that I had was a large studio on the inside of the resort with no ocean view and it smelt like mold. I asked to be moved and they were very accommodating. Throughout the rest of the stay the staff was short and it seemed like you were always bothering them and they wanted you to leave them alone. The next room had an peek- a -boo ocean view and it was a much larger studio but the shower was cold and It had stayed cold throughout my stay. No other rooms were available. They sent someone to fix it a couple times but no luck. I just had to live with it. I didn't mind too much because it felt nice with all the humidity. My room backed up to a Casino. It was very loud and one of the nights people kept on knocking at my door loudly every 5 minutes around 2am and would run away. After the 2nd time I had called security and the knocks seemed to stop. Antigua Village does not have any facilities for gym or activities ,so you are pretty much on your own for coming up with ideas of things to do.The stretch of beach in front of the resort had locals constantly trying to get your attention and are pretty rude/demanding about trying to get money from you. This absolutely ruined my stay and made me not want to walk out on the beach path, because I was always bombarded with the locals begging for money. The sandals is a 5 minute walk away and you can do the all inclusive there for 175 per day. Scuba Diving is not included in that rate and you have to pay another $60 dollars on top of that. I would not stay here again as the locals on the beach path ruined my stay and in a couple of cases they tried to walk up to my unit to ask for money. The Restaurant on site had amazing sushi and turns to be a popular local/bar hangout at night.

We stayed in a studio condo for a few nights in February 2014. The place was clean and safe, and near some other resorts and bars/restaurants in Dickenson Bay. There were a few families, but almost all of the guests were older so it was pretty quiet most of the time. However, it is right next door to a Sandals mega-resort that occasionally had loud music blaring at night from one of its bars.

The rooms are clean and pretty basic (and a bit old), though ours was a studio and had a full fridge, microvave and stove/oven. Our only major complaint with the room was that the mattress was really uncomfortable--the mattress was very firm, but you could also feel the metal structure though the padding. Neither of us slept very well the whole trip. The staff was generally nice and very helpful in finding restaurants or activities. I found it offputting that the rooms had a safe but you had to pay $15 US to rent a lock--that kind of gouging of guests on basic amenities doesn't speak well of management.

The location is good, it's on Dickenson Bay and very close to the airport and St. John's. It's not in an area where there are a bunch of food and drink options to walk to. We went to a couple of the nearby restaurants, but none were very memorable. Part of the problem is the cluster of all-inclusive resorts in the area so there aren't as many independent restaurants and bars in the area competing for tourist business. Though we had a rental car and drove around the island and we didn't see any location where there was a lot of food and drink options in walking distance. There is a small market on the property with snacks and beverages, but it's open limited hours and heavily marked up. If you have a car there is a supermarket just a couple minutes toward St. Johns which is a better option.

We were at Villa Dix from late December to early January 2014.
My husband and I stayed here, although there are two sofa beds in the large open plan kitchen/living area which could accommodate a further four people.
The front balcony on 1st floor overlooks the communal pool and garden area, a perfect place for al fresco dining. The apartment is well maintained, equipped and tastefully furnished and decorated. The 2nd floor bedroom is huge with more than adequate storage and has an adjoining bathroom. A barbecue on the rear 1st floor balcony was also a bonus.right
It is a very friendly resort, with many people returning year after year. The grounds are very well maintained and all the staff were very helpful and cheerful. Rooms are serviced on a daily basis and the minor problem we had with drainage was quickly resolved.
The location is right on Dickenson Bay on the north west coast, although the beach is quite narrow outside the resort, we always found a spot for sunbathing. The beach is in fact a mile long and much wider a bit further along.
There are two or three restaurants within walking distance and several others within a 10 minute taxi ride. We had considered Jolly Harbour as an alternative location but having paid a quick visit, are so glad we opted for Antigua Village as it so friendly and relaxing. We will definitely return there.

Room Tip: The Villas are extremely spacious, although the studios are perfectly adequate and spacious for two...

We were there in Oct 2013. The place was not busy, which we liked. Our Villa needed updated ,but was clean and adequate. Pool was nice and the beach was great. The wife hardly ever gets in the ocean, but on this beach she was in every day. The staff were very helpful with our needs and a couple of repairs.. You need a car to get around and stay away from downtown. Very congested. All in all we had a great time and probably will go back.
