Being on a hill we had excellent views over the sea, the downside being that the walk back up the hill from the beach was quite tiring.
The room was clean and comfortable but the bath was a problem in that the plug didn't work, or the shower and there was no hot water.
The staff were perfect, so friendly and kind and the meals we had there were of very good quality.
Would definitely go back because of the lovely relaxed atmosphere.

The rooms are very basic, and if you are lucky enough to get air conditioning that works in your room, it will probably make a loud banging sound!

If you want to order room service, you can order it by phone but then you have to go and collect it from the bar...

The actual staff are lovely.

If you are looking for an interesting night then I suggest you try the Island punch!

The walk to the beach is quite difficult! It's down a very steep, winding road that has no pavement so you have to watch out for cars. When you get to the beach there are a few nice bars, and the local people are truly lovely.

A very reasonably priced hotel giving a high standard of room and restaurant. Staff were helpful and prompt with there service. Reception was first class. The split level room was well laid out, spacious and well equipt. The best part of our stay was the restaurant............inventive and excellent food. We were going to eat away from the hotel but given the quality of the first nights meal, we stayed in at the hotel every night. The only downside of our stay were two American 'gentleman' who sat at the bar every day and evening telling anyone who would listen tales in colourful language with their volume turned up to MAXIMUM. They consumed vast quantities of alcohol every day and when we asked staff who they were we were told that they were PILOTS!!!!!

Room Tip: Room 51 would be a good choice.............junior suite I think.

Thank you for your wonderful review of our Hotel and Restaurant. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and your dining experiences and have shared your comments with Chef Hodge and his team. (Please accept our apologies for the loud guests this is usually not the norm)

We also appreciate the positive comments and the kind words about our staff who works very hard to make sure our guests are comfortable and satisfied with their stay.

We are looking forward to welcoming you again during your next stay in Antigua...HAPPY TRAVELS!

This hotel is located away from anything else on a hill.
It is a strange mix.
The room I had had the bed and wardrobe on a platform up stairs and the bathroom andrest of the room downstairs - all a bit disjointed.
Room OK but bathroom a bit shabby
Staff on Sunday were ridiculous. It took an age to get served. So long ion fact that we saw one guest go out of the hotel and come back with their own drinks as it just took too long to get served.
breakfast is good and service seemed to pick up on weekdays.
Nice views from rooms. Not sure of price as client paid. if it is inexpensive then all fine but I wouldn't want to be paying much . . .

I stayed at the Trade Winds Hotel for 9 nights when visiting Antigua for 3 one-day international cricket matches between England and the West Indies. The hotel was recommended by my travel agent and I could not have been more pleased. It is ideally located on a steep hill above Dickenson Bay on the North West of the Island - about 20 minutes from both the airport and St Johns. Accommodation comprises a series of terraced one and 2-story buildings down the side of the hill, set in lovely gardens and with fantastic views over the Bay and the Caribbean. Rooms are en-suite and are spacious and cool with tiled floors and high ceilings. Indeed, although the outside temperature was 28 degrees I did not need the air conditioning provided. Rooms are beautifully furnished with a queen size bed, settee, armchairs, desk, chest of drawers, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. All rooms have a balcony with sea views. I could not have been made more welcome by the friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel also had a lovely terrace with freshwater swimming pool and sun loungers, and a decked area with tables and chairs. Alongside was the restaurant (The Bay House Restaurant and Bar) which is covered but open on 3 sides, with magnificent views. The cuisine is equally magnificent and includes many local delicacies, superbly cooked and beautifully presented. Every day, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from Dickenson Bay to those who wish to laze on the beach. I normally holiday on 5 star cruise ships and felt that service, facilities and food in the Trade Winds Hotel was well up to that standard. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly. I should also mention that, as part of its exceptional service to guests, the hotel uses a preferred taxi service when possible - Sammy's. Lewis Sammy or his wife Hilary drove me around most days, always on time, meeting me at arranged points for return trips and always with a smile.

My husband and I stayed here for a week this past February and it was lovely. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful view from our hotel suite!! Had a wonderful breakfast each morning at The Bay House Restaurant while enjoying the spectacular view of the Carribean. We did rent our own car to travel around the island because this is not beachfront property. But the property is at the top of a hill and it catches wonderful breezes constantly. Lovely, well-kept gardens...very pretty!

Room Tip: Our junior suite, Rm. 26, had a spectacular view of the Carribean.
