This was our 5th visit in 10 years to blue waters and I have to say our best one yet. The hotel is faultless. Beautiful gardens, sea and beach. We stayed in the cove suites which are modern suites set in a more private location in the hotel grounds. The food and presentation is of high standard.once the new cove restaurant opens there will be another option for the evening meal. My only one critism is that the palm restaurant evening meal menu needs to change more frequently over a 2 week period. We had to eat in there most night As we had a toddler with us.
The staff are fantastic. They are all friendly, kind and caring. The customer service is one of the things that makes the stay so enjoyable. Tremaine, pearl and Carolyn are just a few of the ladies who take care of you and would bend over backwards to accomadate your needs. We went with friends on this occasion who are well travelled who at the end of there 2 weeks said it was the best holiday they'd ever had. We will definately be returning again. ThIe hotel is a credit to alistar and the team he has behind the scenes. Book it, you will not be disappointed!

Having never done the all-inclusive thing before, we were a little uncertain about what would unfold.

Needn't have worried. The location of the resort is excellent. Easy to escape to deserted beaches on one of the kayaks - only ten minutes paddling away. The Hobiecats were absolutely fantastic once the wind picked up. I spent half my time out sailing. The reef was a little disappointing - I think it would be worth going on a day trip further round the island if you're really keen to snorkel.

The food was good, not amazing, but good. The breakfast muffins were great. The local seafood was very good and the BBQs were excellent. We didn't eat at the Cove Restaurant as it was being refurbished during our stay. The best thing at Blue Waters was the staff - they were all friendly, attentive, genuine and warm - Pearl is a superstar!

There were quite a few families with young children at the resort. This wasn't a big deal for us, but might not suit everyone. At the end of the week, we were well rested and would return if we fancied some laziness and unwinding.

If you like good food, if you look for an holiday on a caribbean beach, if you hope that this place is worth the money you Are spending...avoid blue waters hotel!
The food at the Palm restaurant is indecent, starting from breakfast, server in old, broken pots and of terrible quality:forget fresh tropical fruits, they Are completely tasteless! If you look for delicious croissant you'll Find bread full of butter, awful pre packaged jams, awful choices of ham, a shame! The lunch is full of Low quality food: they think to make you happy with a free glass of wine while paying 8 dollars for a bottle of water, that you need because tap water smells of chloro directly from the pool!how not to mention the beach: you fly 10 hours to spend your exotic vacation by the pool because the beach is so small that you can't call it a beach. The managers should travel a little to understand what it means to' offer a 5 stars holiday in 2011:high quality food , high quality standard!!!go and learn managers!try a real sushi not the rubbish you offer at the Bartley's restaurant! Never ever again, exception for the Cove Suites, very confortable and new, but they gave to' us the farthest eventuali if with small kids!

BWTeam, General Manager at Blue Waters Antigua, responded to this review, 5 January 2012
Thanks very much for your feedback on the resort and on behalf of all the team at Blue Waters, we are truly sorry you did not enjoy your two nights with us, and that you decided to cut short your stay and return to Italy. Thanks for your positive comments on the Cove suites, I am sorry we had to allocate you a suite so far away from the main central resort area, but I hope you understand we were full on the nights in question. We would still love you to come back to give us a second try on another occasion where hopefully you might feel more positive about our food and service. We have arranged for your tour operator to refund you a proportion of your unused nights as a gesture of goodwill. If you do return to Antigua in the future and would like to stay with us again please do contact me directly at Alistair@bluewaters.net. Again thanks and apologies. Alistair Forrest, General Manager.

I loved this hotel and feel completely rested & restored . Traveling on my own ( on an inclusive plan ) I stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the beach - swam, read books and chatted with other guests . Sure the infinity pool next to the beach and the handmade drinks are wondrous, but it is the staff who make this place so very special.

Room Tip: If you can spring for the deluxe room that extra space goes a long way . The second floor has better...

Excellent location, lovely beach, dazzling sea views, good service, regular food and very friendly staff.
A few minutes (about 15') away by taxi ($12.0 USD) from St. John's centre and also from the airport ($13.0 USD).
A quiet and beautiful place to relax.

I definitely recommend Blue Waters! I visited in September and the resort was fairly quiet. I was travelling on my own and although I got a few questions as to why I was on my own, I felt safe and comfortable and wasn't pestered at all. There's plenty of sun loungers and the ones around the adult pool are the most comfy. Pool bars are very good, and cold towels and fresh fruit were brought round in the morning. Food was excellent, plenty of choice and it was good not to have buffets every day like you get on most all inclusives. BBQ was particually good. beach is quite small but there was always somewhere to sit -im sure in high season it would be different. There's lots of water sports to do and it was great to see the catamarans sailing past each day. I saw dolphins out in the bay on my first morning and loved watching the pelicans dive in the waters. Lastly the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and everyone really friendly. Joe and Dale were great at the bar and happily created new cocktails for you to try! If you want somewhere relaxing then Blue waters is the place to go.

I work in travel and am well travelled. This was a 50th birthday/25th anniversary treat. First trip to Antigua. Resort location 20 mins from airport is very convenient (the 1.5 hours spent queueing for immigration wasn't so avoid Saturday arrivals/departures if you can: too many flights at same time and not enough staff). Great reception at the hotel. It's nice when you feel genuinely welcomed and check-in was swift and smooth.

The hotel is situated in a dramatic hillside position and most rooms/suites/villas seem to have good views. There are three public pools - Veronicas, near the main part of the hotel, the beach and a third, which was closed during our stay. There are also private pools for those staying in the Cove Suites - these looked impressive and other guests spoke very highly of them. One negative about the pools. There is only one public toilet at the hotel, located by the lobby. If you need to go while down at the pools you have to traipse all the way back up to the hotel.

Our room, a deluxe sea view, was in a prime sea-front location with stunning views. We were very happy with it.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Once they knew your name they always remembered you and tried to engage you in conversation. You have to make allowances for the speed of service in the Caribbean but we did not experience any horrendous waits. They must have actioned some of the criticisms in earlier posts.

The standard of the food was acceptable, especially compared to some other resorts we've stayed in. However, one of the reasons we picked the hotel was because of The Cove, a well known restaurant on Antigua, and included in our all inclusive packge. It was shut during our stay and we had no prior notification. I would have gone elsewhere if I'd known because a choice of two restaurants is not enough.

The staff tried their best to compensate with daily menu changes in the remaining two restaurants but they seemed under-resourced and under-staffed. In Bartley's, the indoor a la carte restaurant, we often waited 40-45 mins for the starter. Howver, to be fair, they gave us pitta bread and dips followed by a pre-starter compliments of the chef.

If you like to keep fit while away there are tennis courts and a well-eqipped, air-conditioned gym. There is also a games room for table tennis , cards etc.

Watersports of the usual non-motorised variety were plentiful and it was great that there were, apart from a couple of occasions, no jet skis spoiling the tranquility.

We only ventured out once, to St John's the capital 15 mins away, a typical port geared up for cruise ships. We went for 2.5 hours and that was too long. The duty free jewellery/watch prices are not that good. The rest was junk apart from some boutique shops tucked away with some great, very reasonably priced paintings.

Antigua seemed expensive to us. I would have baulked if I'd had to pay the menu/wine list prices in the resort. What irked us was you could get bottled water free of charge on all inclusive everywhere in the hotel except the reataurants. There, because my wife cannot drink tap water, which was free, we had to pay $8.44/£5.60 for bottled water. I think this is taking the mickey ( mind you, not as bad as a glass of white wine in the Hilton at Gatwick Airport which was £9!). The excursions too seemed over the top.

Summary: the weather wasn't brilliant while we were there but we still had a great time overall. We would definitely go back to Antigua and maybe to The Blue Waters providing The Cove was open.

Room Tip: The 100's have been refurbished but avoid the 200's because they haven't. The Cove Suite...
