“Our Dream Wedding”
Reviewed 28 August 2008

Wedding on 28th May 2008.

We arrived at Bluewaters Hotel in Antigua and straight away loved the feeling of the place. We booked our wedding with Carrier and we were greeted at the airport by a representative and driven to the hotel by Limo!

The hotel was absolutely lovely, everything we hoped and the hotel looked like the photos in the brochures if not better in real life. The people were ever so friendly and glad to help anyway they could.

Our deluxe room was lovely with fantastic views of the ocean and the wedding gazebo.

Our wedding co-ordinator Makeeba was fantastic throughout, she was extremely patient and very helpful. Our minds were put at ease straight away, we didn't feel the need to worry about any of the arrangements. In our meeting we chose the flowers we wanted and were able to pay for extra flowers for our bridesmaids we had 6! For our 7 year old bridesmaid Molly we were able to have a basket of flowers. Makeeba organised the steel band, photographer and we chose to have a DVD, we are so glad we did it turned out wonderful. We had taken some of our own table decorations and settings over and explained how we wanted it set out. Makeeba even organised this for us. We had 25 Guests in total who all stayed at different hotels in antigua and came to Bluewaters on the 28th for the wedding. They were allowed in an hour before. We paid for all inclusive passes for all of our guests.

Before we got married we arranged for everyone to meet at Shirley heights the sunday before the wedding, we did this before we left England so everyone knew we were going to do this. We stayed on later than 7pm which is the time they say you should go back after the sunset which was gorgeous, but the reggae bands were brill later on we had a fab time! Watch out for the rum punches ha ha!

I was worried about my hair for the wedding so I had a trial hair up in the hotels salon, the young girl called Trisha was fantastic and done my hair beautifully.

We chose to have our ceremony at 4pm, the heat was okay at that time not as hot. A tip for the bride and bridesamaids put on lots of talc powder under your dresses. Avoid sweaty marks!

The ceremony was so beautiful and we were so lucky to have our family and friends there with us. My Bridesmaids led the way and me and my dad followed. It was a wonderful feeling walking down to the wedding gazebo with the sea around you, knowing that you were going to marry the man the you truly love!
My now husband looked very handsome and all the bridal party and guests looked fantastic. The steel band played as we walked down and played one love by Bob Marley which was lovely. They were great ,so glad we chose to have the steel band.

The gazebo had been decorated by flowers from the hotel grounds which looked gorgeous.
The words we spoke during our ceremony were so lovely and sincere with words that you could relate to. We didn't have a practise of the words before hand so we had to say them as we heard them which was abit surreal. But so glad we got the DVD so we could watch the ceremony and hear the words again.

The cake and champagne were nice and we were really impressed with the photographer. After the ceremony we had drinks in the top bar while the reception area was being set up for our BBQ. We had our reception at the infinity pool area which was kept separate for our wedding party. All our tables were arranged and set up as we had wanted, we were so pleased. It was gorgeous! we did our speeches before dinner and had the steel band play while we ate. The BBQ food was delicious.
With the pool area being by the beach if felt really special.

We Kept a space for dancing in the middle of the set up tables. We had our first dance down here which felt really romantic. Although we did take our own ipod and bose speakers with our own music. We had pre planned this which worked well.

We then moved up to the main hotel area where a fantastic band was playing, apparently they only play on the weds night and we were lucky enough to have had them the evening we got married.
The hotel staff were up dancing with us to some of the songs such as follow my leader. My husband and I, with our guests danced the night away and had a truly special Day! Our wedding was more than we could of dreamed of, and if we did it again it would have to be exactly the same. My husband and I didn't want the night to end.

My husband arranged with the maid to have our room decorated with flowers that was wonderful.

Our wedding photo's came after a couple of days with the DVD and we also bought the Bonus photo Disc which had all the photos on the photographer had taken.

Anyone getting married at Bluewaters should get very excited we loved every moment of it, and we will definately go back at some point to renew our vows!
All our guests had a wonderful time, thankyou to all the lovely staff at Bluewaters hotel. We loved Antigua and are so pleased we chose this wonderful place to be married!

We spent 10 days on our honeymoon at Blue Waters and had an amazing time. On arrival we were greeted with friendly staff and glasses of rum punch, a good start to a holiday. The hotel was first class and the staff all very friendly, particularly Garry in the Palm Restaurant who was outstanding. The food was first class and there were three restaurants to choose from. Menus were changed daily and there were regular barbecues which were just delicious and included fresh fish. We had a deluxe beach front room and the view was outstanding from our balcony, pure blue water as far as the eye could see. The rooms were cleaned daily and we even had a maid come every night to close our curtains and turn our bed sheets down. All rooms are air conditioned and have fans, even the balcony had a fan. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Check out the cocktails in the bar at night as they are superb. As part of the honeymoon package we received a champagne breakfast in our room which was a lovely touch. There is loads to do if you want to and three pools to choose from if you want to just laze round. Waiters come round with cool towels and glasses of icey water and if you are all inclusive you can order cocktails direct to your sun lounger. If you are looking for relaxation in a very luxurious hotel then Blue Waters is the place to go, I can't wait to go back. We had a very special honeymoon thanks to Blue Water.

My holiday buddy and I treated ourselves to a trip to Antigua. We thought this hotel was amazing.
When we arrived, we were given cold menthol towels, checked in, offered a drink, and shown to our room. Our room had a wonderful sea view and on opening the patio doors, you could hear the sound of the waves crashing against the shore of one of the beaches. The room was compact - but then how much time do you spend in your room?
The food at the hotel was average. We were on a breakfast plan, which meant we got brekkie and afternoon tea (served at 4pm) and either stayed in the hotel to dine in one of the 3 restaurants or went out to St Johns to eat. The brekkie was pretty good. On the occasions we did eat in the restaurant, we were disappointed. And The one thing that really let these guys down was the room service - we booked that for 3 nights and it was just rubbish - quite frankly would have been better with a packet of potato crisps and a mars bar from the shop on site.
The hotel has 3 beaches - a private beach (get the guy at watersports to take you), the bigger one with the horizontal palm tree and the quieter one which was in front of our room.
The guys at the watersports will also take you to Dickenson Bay for things like waterskiing and jetskiing.
Went to some great restaurants in St Johns, Papa Zouks being the one that stood out. also visited the Commissioner Grill (food good - but smell around restaurant of sewage), Hemmingways (also good food) and Saffron at Jolly Beach.
We also hired a car for a few days to get around the island - well worth doing as you can go to half moon bay which has some great breakers (don't forget the body board which you can borrow from the guys in the watersports hut) and take a visit to Devils Bridge too.
We went on the extreme tour around the island with the stingray city visit - basically go on a really cool very fast speedboat all round the island, stop and swim with/feed/hold/have photo taken with Stingrays, plus some snorkelling, plus lunch on a beautiful beach and then rum on another gorgeous beach before returning back - takes all day and well worth the money!

Couple of points:
Recommend you take US Dollars.
Various power sockets in room, including US, UK and EU - no need for adapters.
Taxis are expensive - if theres more than 2 of you reckon you hire a car.
Take mozzi repellent - I got bitten a few times
Take anti-histamine tablets (great if you get bitten)
Antigua is a great place to chill out, so most of all, prepare to relax!!

My husband and I chose this resort as our honeymoon destination based on pretty good past reviews, but after spending 8 long days of horrible service and horrible food, we were super ecstatic to leave. First day of arrival was great. We had a nice welcoming crew offer us rum punch with big smiles offering us cool hand towels. "Wow! This is great!" so we thought. Service level went down hill after that. The thing is..when you go on vacation and drop some serious hard earned cash..you expect the "royal treatment"...or "red carpet" and expect everyone that works at the resort starting from bartender to server to frontdesk to really offer an amazing experience with smiles and greetings. We got no smiles and definitely no greetings. We decided to not do all inclusive..thank god because the food was pretty bad. Ants were often spotted in the fruit and during lunch one time..the cheese was infested with the darn critters too! Regarding the servers...they don't smile or do they greet let alone respond with any friendly answers. For example, when we ask for more water or another spoon they usually don't really answer you..instead, walk away and bring you what you want..it's quite odd. We ordered a few things to be delivered to our room and it took an hr..this happened 2 times! I went to the pool bar to order a drink and the bartender was moving like a slug. After helping 3 other customers she decides to get on the phone and start talking. After 10 min's of this fiasco I gave up and walked away. She didn't bother to say.."sorry, your drink will be right up just need to make an important call". Just rude. Taxi service to go anywhere else is horrendously expensive. $12 plus any tip..$14 or so..if you go 15 min's or 5 min's it's same price. How do you figure that? So even trying to get out of the resort and eat somewhere else..add $30 (taxi) to any restaurant even if it's 5 min's away..now that's a rip off! During checkout on the last day we asked front desk guy for an extra laundry bag and his answer was.."Sorry, don't have any. Don't have access to getting one now." How does a hotel not have access to getting a plastic laundry bag? I figured with this cold, unfriendly staff besides the managers..oh, the managers are "really" accomadating and friendly...why can't they train the rest of staff to do the right thing when it comes to customer service?...bottom line, majority of hotel staff were not willing to go out of their way for their guests in any way.

My husband and I booked Blue Waters for the first week of our honeymoon and everything about the whole holiday was fantastic. From the moment we arrived the service we received was excellent. We were lucky to be upgraded and had a beachfront deluxe room equipped with TV satellite and fully stocked mini bar, which was restocked daily (part of AI package). The staff at BW are extremely friendly and really cannot do enough for you. The hotel is quite small and intimidate - perfect for honeymoon couples and means the service is fantastic at all times. There are 3 pools, all of which were cleaned daily. The new Cove restauarnt is a MUST - definitely worth the small supplement. My husband and I would definitely go back to BW.

I had my wedding at this hotel and stayed for 2 weeks the bes holiday and time of my life. The hotel is fabulous and the staff were amazing so helpful and always smiling. The hairdresser was great and made my wedding day with all my pampering. The rooms were stupendous and the biggest bed i have ever slept in and so comfortable. We met a lot of lovely people at this hotel and would definately go back. You must go to Shirley heights and watch the sunset it is wonderful. All in all i loved my holiday to Blue Waters and would recommend to anyone, i was married their 3 years ago and i still rave about it, would not swap it for anything. Thanks to all the wonderful team and Cindy the wedding co-ordinator she was fab.

My boyfriend and I went to Blue Waters in Febuary for a week and it was the best holiday we had ever been on. When we arrived we were greeted with a drink and cold towel and we loved our room with a big terrace area and the bed was so comfortable with lovely sheets-a home from home definatley!
The pool areas were lovely and pool waiters came round taking drink orders and handing out fresh fruit.
We would recommend all inclusive-the palms restaurant was great with so much variety and the breakfasts were the best I have ever eaten! Viviens was nice also and we went to the cove restaurant where I celebrated my 30th and we got pink champagne and candles in my pudding!
We took a taxi into st johns to the market which is a good idea and we also went on the circumnavigation cruise which we would not recommend as it was very choppy going across the atlantic-3 people asked to be taken off as it was so rough!
This is an absolutley amazing hotel and we are planning to get married out here in the future! We compare this hotel to every holiday we go on and nothing ever lives up to it
