“Beautiful setting but rushed”
Reviewed 21 December 2012

We ate here to get away from the at best average food at Sandals and were very glad we did. The menu had a good range of dishes and we were very happy with the food. We were lucky enough to get a table on the waters edge, I'd recommend this. When we called to book, the only option was 8.30pm, when we arrived the other tables were nearly finished, so the staff though friendly were very keen to whizz us through the meal, coming to the table to clear plates before we'd finished, bringing the bill before offering us dessert etc. We had a drink at the lobby bar afterwards whilst waiting for the taxi and both agreed we really wished we'd stayed here. Would certainly return if we go back to Antigua.

“Food a highlight, staff a highlight, comfort forgotten!”
Reviewed 27 October 2012

The Cove should get 5 stars but just misses out due to a few errors. First the good:
Excellent service is provided by all staff here. They were friendly, courteous and efficient. The manager here, Kenyatta, was a stand out in terms of efficiency and personality.
The restaurant itself is brilliantly positioned on the water’s edge, about 10 feet above the sea. It has recently been moved down to this spot as the old restaurant further up is now the Spa at Blue Waters. It has a wide expanse and numerous tables along the water view edge so if you’re a couple it’s likely you’ll have a good view.
Food here is really excellent, although one or two mistakes occurred during our stay. My wife and I ate here 4 times and had the lobster thermidor 3 times! So you might say we liked it! In fact it was the best thermidor we’d ever eaten. Other dishes were also excellent but on one evening I chose pork as a main dish and it was horribly overcooked. I know some people like over cooked pork as they have a fear of it being underdone, but pork should still be pink in my view AND properly rested. Neither was done by the chef here which was a shame. However, when I mentioned about this it was absolutely no issue about getting a new dish – they couldn’t have been more professional about it. Excellent.
And now the not so good:
The light. Romantic yes, but near on impossible to read the menus! The trick was to take the plastic rock housing off the electric candle situated within it and use this to illuminate the menu.
The seats. Damn, they were uncomfortable! They had a cushioned seat but no cushion on the back, and the back was an “X” shape of metal. You couldn’t sit back on them for more than a few minutes. My wife asked for a seat cushion to go down the back which solved the problem but really they need to add cushioning to ALL seats.
The tables. Again, poorly designed. They were wicker tables with a large, square column centrally located that supported the table (in other words no legs). The problem with this design is that your knees hit the column before you can get close to the table itself. You can’t spread your knees around the column because it’s undignified, especially for the ladies, and it’s too wide to be able to There's a reason why restaurant tables have legs!

Generally this is a great restaurant that gets the important things – food, service, staff – spot on. It would easily get 5 stars from me if it improved its furniture.

“Good food, but be prepared to wait..”
Reviewed 5 October 2012

We stayed at the Bluewaters resort for a week and ate here for dinner at least three times. Their lobster dishes were good (both grilled and thermidor style). We also had the snapper and filet mignon, all of which were good too. I had the crab cakes (which were disappointing) and escargot was so-so. Presentation was nice and portions were on par with other semi-fancy restaurants. Main entrees comes with choice of 3 sides - we had the rosti potatoes, creamed spinach and rice pilaf. There was quite a few side selections. Prices for main dishes start at $30 USD.

Ambience is romantic, sitting on the edge of a small cove with seats facing the ocean. I agree with what others posted, that it can be a bit dark unless you're sitting in areas with lights above you.

Where the restaurant needs to improve on is the speed. The wait staff was fine and attentive, but the food came out really slow in all the three times we were there. We waited for about an hour for our main dish and about 30 min for our appetizer. The table next to us complained because they waited for almost 2 hours to get their main dish. This is obviously a kitchen problem. I don't know if what we and others experienced was due to understaffing as we came here right at the early start of the season (or end of their off season). I'm hoping it's not a consistent problem because it would be a shame as everything else was done right.

“A special place”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

This restaurant is very chic, and we were lucky enough to be given a table right at the waters edge. The welcome was warm and efficient, and we enjoyed our lobster cocktail starters. The main courses too were very good, but as a previous commentator has said, a little more light to enable us to see what we were eating would have been appreciated. Highly recommended

“What a Delight”
Reviewed 10 July 2012

We were staying on the resort and in one of Blue Waters "Cove Suites" under an all inclusive deal. With this package we were given a $50 per person credit to use in this restaurant.

We had a drink in the Cove Bar the night before and decided to book our sitting for the next night. The manager booked this up and I asked for the "table for two" right at the end overlooking the cove. This was arranged and we were amazed.

We had a drink at the bar before being invited to take our seats, The timing of service was great, pleasant staff and the food was out of this world. We had built a friendship with one of the bar staff down at the pool bar and their she was looking after us at the Cove Restaurant, Shinikina's personality was very warm and welcoming..."VERY ANTIGUAN" Welcome as a friend must be one of their core values.

The only thing I could comment about the table where we were sitting, their wasn't enough light to clearly see our menu's but we didn't mind about something that small.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and say its a "must do" 10 out of 10
