“Grocery store.....”
Reviewed 16 November 2013 via mobile

We went to the epicurean nearly every day of our trip. Would recommend heading to the liquor store for beer and liquor as the prices ate much better.

The staff working there were not very pleasant, whether in the deli, at the register or at the door.

Remember that most things in Antigua are imported so even a bag of doritos is $7 US.

Try the sub sandwiches from the deli. Fair price on decent baguette but no condiments so you'll pay $4 for mustard in the store.

We lived in Antigua for three years and used Epicurean regularly, mainly because it is one of the only two big supermarkets on the island. Firstly it is not a restaurant therefore should not be in this category, secondly it is not the premium experience described here which begs the question how genuine these reviews are. Yes it is a big supermarket, but it is expensive and the 'fresh' vegetables rarely are fresh or of the quality that justifies the price. The staff range from surly to resentful, you can often be treated to having your over priced goods hurled down the conveyer at you. So yes, this is a big well stocked supermarket, but no it is not the best 'restaurant' in Antigua!

“Essential for the self-caterer!”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

It's a little bit out of the way for most of the resorts, but Epicurean is an oasis for any self-caterer on Antigua. Fantastic range of foods, and essentials for any stay. Hard to make use unless you have you own transport, though.

“Great Experience!”

Amazing store! The pharmacy was the best! I forgot my son's medicine and our doctor in Texas was able to call the pharmacy for the prescription. It was a trip saver for us!!

“Best Supermarket on the Island”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

Simply stated, Epicurean is the best supermarket in Antigua. My family and I have been coming to Antigua for many years, and always visit the shops at the start of our trip to stock up on supplies for our Villa. While we have never been picky, the selection has always been limited and there has not been any great fresh food options. On our last trip, we were recommended to try out the Epicurean, and it was beyond our wildest expectations!

The store is massive and packed with everything you could possibly want. Not only do they sell known international brand named goods (hard to find on the islands, believe me), they also have a wonderful range of their own prepared foods!

We were able to choose from freshly baked breads and desserts, a huge deli section (which also offers freshly prepared take-out foods), and even a locally grown vegetarian and organic selection! Even in the UK, where we are from, you have to go to a big up-market grocery store to find this type of variety.

Cannot recommend this supermarket highly enough. If you are travelling to Antigua and want to get high quality groceries, or even just for a wonderful and healthy choice of take out meal, the Epicurean is the best place to go!
