when we decided to visit Monk's Hill which should have really been a hike as opposed to a JEEP trip. We never realized how rough the ride was going to be until we were half way up. Because we chose to watch the sunset from the top it was too late to start hiking. We traveled as far up as we could go, but there came a time (or rather too big of a hole to make it through) we had to ditch our car and start hiking. We came up to an old wall and ruins of Fort George and shortly after the most stunning view of Falmouth and English Harbours. If we made it in time the sunset would have been stunning. No reason to fret as there are so many magnificent spots to watch a stunning sunset.

We traveled up to Monks Hill making it almost to top in our car. We had a short 600 meter walk to the top. Wearing good foot wear is recommended twenty minutes gets you to the top. This site is superb you can enjoy a great view of Falmouth Harbour, Nelson's Dockyard, and a turn around and St John's can be seen in the distance. The view the challenge is so worth it, If you feel the walk and challenge is too much a ATV tour is available.

Come and enjoy Antigua. It has a lot to offer.

We last were here 30 years ago. Since then vegetation has overgrown the fort - and all really to see of that is the gate, gatehouse and some remaining walls. However, the views over the South and East of Antigua are wonderful. But it is hard work getting there - a two mile walk uphill as the track is too rocky to drive on unless you have a hardy Land Rover. You are also best using your i-phone navigational aids. If you were impressed by the views from Fort Barrington, you will be more impressed by the views from here.
