We had a hard time finding this gem as our plane was late and the signposts on this fairly small island cannot be read in the dark let alone in daylight. It was definitely worth the trouble finding it. We were given a very friendly welcome and advice re local eateries. It is a short walk downhill to a large selection of restaurants (but a tough climb after a big meal and a couple of drinks).
The view from the master bedroom in the morning was breathtaking. The Inn consists of six or seven small cottages scattered on the hillside, all connected to the main house and pool, bar and breakfast area. Breakfast consists of self service cereal, coffee, juice, yoghurt and a huge selection of delicious local baked muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls and bread for toast.
The accommodations are basic but comfortable with daily maid service. The master cottage which we rented had a large bedroom which we also used as the sitting room and a much smaller second bedroom with a double bed. The kitchen area with two person table was tiny and contained minimal utensils if you wanted to cook. The micro wave was handy. This is not a five star hotel as you realize by the cost but it has all the basics which, with the friendliness of the staff, make up for the all inclusiveness of the two major resorts we managed to wangle our way into to snoop around.

Room Tip: I would recommend getting the master cottage for the view off the balcony and the second bedroom all...

If you're not that keen on resorts, there aren't that many places near English Harbour to stay. The Ocean Inn has great views & easy steps once you're inside. It's not luxurious but does have a certain charm, we stayed in one of the little bungalows. There's an honesty bar (new wooden decking now) & a small, clean pool which we had to ourselves a couple of times. We enjoyed the night jasmine wafting over the garden & the humming birds..

Breakfast is simple but adequate - tea/coffee, juice, basic cereals, pastries/muffins, yoghurt, melon/grapes. This didn't change for 5 days but was fine for us as we were spoiling ourselves & eating out for lunch.

Robert, the owner, is very welcoming as everyone says, & has the widest smile I've ever seen.

Well myself and my friend came to stay in the Ocean Inn for a few nights and we booked a Harbour View Bungalow.
What can i say,the owner Robert was one of the nicest guys you could meet, upon a very fast check in,we were informed that his lovely mothers birthday party was that night and that we were invited to come for food and drink; we were thinking to ourselves, this is great, what a nice place. We made our way to the bungalow and it was superb compared to the jolly beach hotel that we just came from which was not the best. The views were to die for and the whole hotel/Inn was imaculate clean. We had great food and drinks that night and made our way to the harbour later on for some more drinks.
We are well travelled as we travel a lot abroad for work and pleasure and this one of the top places i have stayed. The smell in the evening when the sun goes down of the plants and flowers is just beautiful.
Advice to anyone wanting a lovely place with friendly people, you can get better than robert and his team and when we go back again, this will be the place we will go and recommend to family and friends.
Top notch ,friendly place ,you can tell where Robert gets his easy going ways and friendliness from;his lovely mother.

Room Tip: Book a Bungalow with Harbour View, you wont be disappointed

We are 2 single girl friends and wanted to be away from the resort all-in couples experience! This was our 2nd visit to Ocean Inn, it was so good in 2012 we came back. The hotel overlooks the fantastic view of English Harbour, amid beautiful colourful plants and trees and tiny birds. We stayed in one of the cottages, with panoramic view and small kitchen, really homely. There's a delightful small pool, cleaned everyday and shady terraces. The people that stay are an interesting mix too! Robert is lovely and so welcoming, it was great to see him and his team again. The honesty bar is a great touch too. Breakfast is basic - fruit, yoghurts and pastries. It's a short walk down to Nelsons dockyard and there is an eclectic mix of restaurants - local, French, fusion and so on, nearly all good, some excellent.
All in all, Ocean Inn is a wonderful find, highly recommended.

The ocean inn is a lovely little place, the owner Robert is very welcoming and helpful, the view is absolutely amazing. The rooms are basic but very clean, I would definetly recommend choosing a private cottage room, the rooms in the main house arent quite as nice and they have a private view. Also breakfast is slightly different, no cooked breakfast just pastrys in packets, nice but not what most people are used to, but it was ok for us. The location is good, two mins from english harbour which was good for us as my husband works on a boat, and plenty of restaurants nearby. Thankyou for a lovely stay!

Room Tip: choose private cottages

My husband and I are just back from a short stay at the Ocean Inn, English Harbour. We only stayed one night, trying to make connections between the islands and Miami, but Robert at the Ocean Inn welcomed us like we were old friends. He has taken over the running of Ocean Inn after the sudden death of his Dad. Robert has been making continuous renovations to the property as needed. He quickly showed us to our room at 10am, and then he showed us the “honor” bar. The Ocean Inn is perched on the hill, so there are spectacular views of English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard. Ocean Inn is centrally located. After having a cool drink by the pool, Robert directed us to the closest beach. Pigeon Point is a lovely white sand beach that is only about a 10-15 min easy walk. There are many restaurants in English Harbour where one can walk to. It is just a quick uphill cab ride to the Sunday concert at Shirley Heights. The Ocean Inn is a great, centrally located small hotel, with a lovely ownership. Accommodations are single rooms with bathrooms that are part of the main building and then individual free standing “cottage” type rooms, with bathrooms, that are scattered on the hill around the pool area. We hope to return for a longer stay with you.
All the best to you Robert. Thanks.

I have stayed in several hotels in the area, including one three times the price, and all things considered you cannot do better than the Ocean Inn: view, cleanliness, friendliness, quiet, location...and of course, a great price.
Everything is 'adequate', compared to other hotels (except the view) but all in all, it has everything you need.
Robert is always quick with a smile and a helping hand, whatever you need. Exceptional value overall.
