“Can't wait to go back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

We went to Divi all-inclusive for our honeymoon last year in September and are going back for our anniversary this year! It was so relaxing and the resort is so nice. Our room was right outside of the bar in the oceanfront rooms. Curtis the bartender was the best and kept us entertained. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian one. Seafood pasta was amazing and so were the ravioli. Don't bother going to the hibachi grill - the service was slow, the food was mediocre and I feel like we wasted a night here. The entertainment at night is really fun. Every other night it seems they have vendors from in town come to eithe rthe Divi or Tamarijn and set up tables. That was neat and really nice to feel like there was a change of scenery.

Only cons: need more fish/fresh seafood options. I was a little sad that the only fish options other than seafood pastas seemed to be grouper (which wasn't great). Showers in the rooms don't close and water sprays everywhere (not a huge deal). The "free activities" were disappointing. We tried to go windsurfing for four days in the row and every day they told us they couldn't do it for some reason and to come back the next day, and then the same thing would happen. We eventually just went elsewhere and rented a jetski for an hour because we needed to get out and do something else.

Overall I'd recommend this resort to anyone because we had so much fun and were so relaxed. I can't wait to go back this September.

Room Tip: We loved our oceanfront room.

Stayed at divi in January 2014,we wanted to upgrade room from casita which was too dark and not impressive and was told the service rep did not have authority to make room changes an return in the morning. I requested they leave a message for morning rep.this was never done.On day 4 our toilet and shower started backing up,after a few hours it started to recede, and it was ok until next morning when it started again. We were unable to use either facility in our room and now the shower was overflowing.I asked if there were anywhere else we could shower,no answer and could someone please clean up soaking towels and bathroom floor,we will send someone, no one came.We went to complain and nothing was done and texted manager,no answer. We booked the Divi on advice of people who have gone there for 25 years.Might return to Aruba but never to Divi Divi.

We stayed on the third floor and had a magnificent view of the ocean. Room was very spacious with a sitting area and a huge balcony. Room was clean and linens were acceptable. It was a very slow week when we were there so that made it extremely nice. Bars were great and offered a wide verity of alcohol which was all inclusive too. Buffet left much to be desired, majority of the food was not good and the rest was very dried out and old. They leave the doors open to the buffet so don't be surprised to see lots of flies and birds eating from the buffet also. Special restaurants on the property were a little better but not one meal I can say stuck out as being great. Very warm and humid in Aruba but there is always a breeze too keep you cool. We went downtown on the bus and felt very safe at all times. Resort does have security but we had no reason to feel unsafe at any time. We will return here next year but I sure hope the food has improved.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money to stay on the top floor, the view is worth every penny.

We stayed at the Divi during the week of 4/9/14-4/16/14. We have been to many all inclusives in the Caribbean(nine in all) and we would rate this one of the tops. The rooms were nice and clean, appeared to be updated - not anything extravagant, but who needs it you are never in the room! Our rooms were at a perfect location - 335, 336 and 345 all rooms beach frontage and footsteps from the restaurant and pools! They have a decent amount of chairs around the pool and the sunpads were fabulous - in fact we purchased one for our own outdoors! Another plus was there was a lot of covered areas for you to sit or lay under - we had my mother in law with us and she appreciated this - especially the hammocks! We have four children ranging in ages from 4-17, and the elder ones brought friends along, no one had a problem with finding "fun". There were a fair bit of activities offered and you could partake or not - they were over zealous in getting people involved. I read it was loud - we did not find that in any way shape or form! I think they need to lighten up a bit - you are in the Caribbean! The drinks were good and the food was too! My kids loved the strawberry daiquiris - made with fresh strawberries! There was a large selection, especially at lunch and dinner I found myself not getting tired of it like I have at some other resorts! There was a fish they had served several times - it started with a c - it was excellent!!! Yes, you did have to make reservations for the restaurants - but it was not too much of a hassle - we did not care If we had to eat late - it just meant more time enjoying the outdoors! The temperature was perfect - mid eighties and it was windy - apparently more than usual - did not bother us, occasional sand hitting you with the gusts if you were laying on the beach, might bother some - not us. The wind also helped I am sure in keeping any insects away - because we had no issues with them at all! The beach here is beautiful, between the sand - not rocky, sunsets and the waves which the kids and adults had fun jumping in! You had plenty of pools to choose from with having access to the Tamarijin and the Divi Village, also shuttle service was very convenient too! I loved the towel service - very laid back - no restrictions on how many per day etc! We did a couple excursions - one we rented jeeps and a guide and he took us all over - natural bridge, water hole, snorkeling - the seaside was breathtaking! We also did the Jolly Pirates ship ride - lots of fun between sailing, jumping off the ship, snorkeling! Being a parent of 4 - one thing I found that I felt very safe at this resort - no one offering drugs, harassing you on the beach, no college break kids, etc - that was not true in Jamaica, Costa Rica or Turks.
All in all I would rate this an A and would recommend any one to stay here, if you want, sun, fun & relaxation! Do not let those negative reviews steer you away - it is apparent they would be hard to please under any circumstances! We will definitely be coming back!!!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks in October 2013 for our honeymoon and loved every second of it. Some people have said that it is dated which I suppose it is a little, but this isn't something that bothers us. As long as the rooms are clean, which they were, then we're happy. They had also clearly updated the bathroom recently and aircon worked well.

Tho only thing that was slightly irritating was having to reserve tables at the restaurants and we only seemed to be able to get a really early table or quite a late table, we didn't seem to be able to eat at around 7/7.30 even if we booked the table as early as we could, but again not a huge issue for us.

We found the staff to be very friendly and when sat at the bar, if the barstaff saw your drink was almost empty they would replace it without you having to ask.

We took the option of going for dinner at Windows which was the restaurant across the road at the golf resort as they offered it as a honeymoon special. I would highly recommend going there if it is a special occasion or you are on your honeymoon as the food was just fantastic.

It was really quite windy when we went but then again you are in the Carribean and it's pretty hot so a breeze was very welcome most of the time.

If what you're looking for is a totally relaxing holiday with a beautiful beach then this is definitely the place for you.

We heard that it is always windy there but more so the week we stayed! Too windy to swim at the beach, and the pool is not too easy to use for seniors. But did spend lots of time in the sun. Just a really pretty resort with an amazing beach. Lots of lounge chairs at the beach, but not not enough places to sit by the pool. Not much entertainment. Altogether a very quiet resort.

We stayed in Vista 2 on the first floor and the rooms had been recently redone, and very comfortable. Wish there was some soft drinks in the fridge, and a coffee maker, but no. The food at the buffet was quite varied and good, but didn't stay hot long enough. The Red Parrot was good, but the coconut shrimp was tough. Also ate at Paparazzi, the food there was just so, so. We enjoyed the pizza by the pool, and I loved the Rum Runners!

It was nice to have golf carts to get us down to the Tamarijn. We only left the resort once for a catamaran snorkeling trip. Very beautiful out on the water. The trip home was very long, what with customs and immigration in Aruba. Lots of standing in line, even though on a Tuesday! It took about three hours, and was more complicated than usual. And I had a 4 hour layover in Miami, which was where I expected customs. Probably won't go back, although we had a really nice time overall!

Room Tip: First floor a good choice, as long as you keep the doors closed and locked! Vista 2 the best locati...

To be fair, we normally never do all inclusive and prefer a local approach like bed and breakfasts. This was our first time at an all inclusive and sadly our last. The service was great, the rooms were clean, beach was beautiful and so was the pool. Now for the cons.. If you're looking for buffet style eating, cruise-ship like entertainment, watered down drinks, no trace of Aruban culture and TONS of Canon-ball, loud personalities from the guests, you've got the right place. It just was not for us... It's almost like we never left New York... Isn't the idea of a vacation to escape?
