Location of this hotel is perfect we were in block 18 and only a few yards from the beach and sea. Plenty of food and drink, the asian and italian restaurants were really good, only down side for us was the restaurant which is in need of updating, most of our lunch and evening meals we walked up to the Divi were the restaurant is much nicer. WE mentioned this to our Rep who informed us that the Divi had recently been renovated? Staff and facilities were superb, would love to go back again some time

Room Tip: Block 18 was fine with us

Just got back from a 7day vacation with my fiancé at the Tamarijn. The hotel and beach are beautiful ! The rooms weren't 5 star but were fine for us. Nice king size bed, great drawer and dresser space, amazing air conditioner, and balcony access to the most beautiful beach ! Everything about this trip was awesome and I would definitely recommend it. The only negative comment I have is that the staff and some other arubians were not so nice. . In fact very nasty. The bartenders and waiters ignored us or rolled their eyes and were miserable. There were very few happy and nice staff members. We went to eat at the flying fish bone one night - you MUST go ! Absolutely beautiful and romantic dinner food was delicious and we sat right on the water ! Definitely book your reservation around sunset. The casinos were fun but tables don't open up until 6pm. It is only a $9 can ride to the high rise hotels where there are much more casinos and places to eat. Make sure you apply your sunscreen !!! We also went on an atv your around Aruba and to the natural pool. I recommend this! It was an amazing and breath taking tour !! Great vacation, two thumbs up

If your looking to be on the beach, have good food, good drink and a wonderful relaxing time, look no further! We traveled here for our 20th wedding anniversary with the kids and had a wonderful time. Plenty of things to do and the food and drinks where one of the best at an all inclusive. We will be sure to return here in the future.

If there was a down side it was the fact they served straws with all your drinks and they tend to blow away and liter the beach.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the beach first level. This was great, walk out of your room and less then 100 feet to...

This was our 4th visit. It's not the ritz but the beds are clean and comfortable, the food is great, and the staff are wonderful, and remember us year from year. It is total relaxation. The Tamarijn is tired but we have seen improvements year by year. If you want an island full of interesting places to go sightseeing, forget Aruba, as some one said its a heck of a long way to go for a beach holiday, but it's wonderful beaches unspoilt by by commerce, the friendliness of everyone, feeling of safety.the weather - hot & windy. The entertainment, done by various artist, not "the entertainment boys & girls" and is often 2or3 artists a night. It is a favourite resort for Americans, but we have made some wonderful friends there. I hope you don't go because each year it's getting harder to book, roll on next year.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main complex are small, especially if you have 2 queen size beds. The rooms at Dutch Vi...

This may be a lengthy review, but it will provide a lot of information. My husband and I are in our 50's and just returned from a 5 night/6 day trip, June 6-11. The resort was 3-4 star, not 5 star, but exactly what we wanted for this trip. We have 2 kids in college in September and did not want to splurge for extravagance, so we opted for this. It was a great decision. We arrived at the resort by 12 noon and were immediately able to check in to our room. The resort was not at full capacity, so I'm sure that helped our case. We were put in room 1602, a second floor end room. This was a perfect location for us...not right next to the main resort buildings, but close enough that we could walk back and forth easily.
BEACH: Our unit (14 rooms, 7 up, 7 down) had a small section of grass right in front, then the walking boardwalk, then the sand and ocean. There were rocks between the sand and ocean, but we were still able to get to the water easily. I am glad that I read other reviews and brought water shoes, but most people did NOT have water shoes and were still going in and out of the water. Some other units did NOT have the rock area, but we liked the location so much, it was fine with us. Because of our grass area, we had iguanas near us in the heat of the day which I LOVED, but other units had no grass and I never saw iguanas there. Also, once you go further away from the main resort, 1800-2400, there is a view to your left of a large crane in the distance where the barges load and unload, I suspect. I was glad we were not staring at that view while on the beach, although we could see it when in the water. If you enjoy isolation and don't mind a good walk, 2000+ units are quiet and have a great beach area. Each unit had several palapas (umbrellas) on beach, but if you want one with a table, it is best to go out by 7-8am and put down towels to save them. Everyone seems to do it. (Bring towel clips to keep the towels on the lounge chairs...otherwise constant breeze blows them off...or you can use the rocks like we did) The shade was nice to have. If you don't want shade, you will have no problem getting chairs and sun!
WEATHER: We had perfect weather. One tour guide told us there is normally only 6 inches of rain per year but only 3 in this last year, so it rarely rains. Parts of the island are covered in cactus, so it MUST be a dry country. We had sun, some clouds, and 85-90 degree F weather, but it always felt cooler as there is a constant breeze. And Aruba is below the hurricane belt so there is no threat of that this time of year as there is in most Caribbean countries. Can't beat the weather!
ROOM: The room itself was nice. Our room was bigger than the picture on line but it may have been because we were on the end. We found the interior to be very nice and relatively updated. The bathroom was also nice, had only 1 sink but plenty of counter space. Closet and storage space, were also good. We spent so little time in our room, as long as it was clean, we would've been fine, but we actually thought it was very nice. We have a small safe for $2 extra per day...a nice place to store our passport, wallets, phones. There was also a small unstocked refrigerator, iron and ironing board. They did not give you little shampoo bottles, but next to the sink and inside the shower, there were soap dispensers which they kept full. There were also 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 washcloths. The shower worked well, plenty of hot water and good pressure. We had no maintenance issues. Housekeeping service was good and women were friendly. TV worked great with many English-speaking major network and cable stations. AC was EXCELLENT in our room!
MAIN RESORT: There were a couple of shops which were very well stocked with anything you might have forgotten or need. Lots of toiletries, medicine, snacks, sun products, etc. bathing suits, water shoes, sandals, etc. Two bars, 4 restaurants, concierge, covered lounge area, small pool. Concierge was very helpful. We booked 2 tours there, and booked our restaurant reservations. All areas very clean.
RESTAURANTS: We ate breakfast and lunch at buffet in our resort. We found food to be good. Breakfast had an omelet station, fruit, waffles, pancakes, etc, and lunch and dinner had a carving station, along with several choices; meats, veggies, potatoes, salad. I liked the fact that they keep their refrigerated items in a glassed refrigerator so they did not get warm or spoiled (desserts, cheeses, yogurt). And if you want a great tasting ice cream, just go to the omelet station area and ask one of the cooks to give you an ice cream cup that they keep in the freezer. It's a nice treat they don't tell you about, but don't miss it!! We didn't go to the sister resort buffet as we didn't think the food at our resort was bad. We went to all the various theme restaurants at our resort and the Red Parrot at Divi. We liked them all, but I think the Asian "Ginger " was my favorite. We had no problem getting reservations for the restaurants, but again, the resort was not full.
TOURS: We booked at the hotel with DePalm Tours. We also used them as hotel transfer. Very easy and second stop from airport. We went on 2 hr sunset cruise which was nice and worth it if you like boats and drinks. Worst part was the bus transfer from hotel to dock. We had to drop us there over an hour early. We also went on a 3 hr tour of the island. We stopped at 5 places, all which were nice to see, however, once again we were on the bus for an hour just picking up people at other hotels which was a little annoying. I am glad we went though.
SUGGESTIONS: At the end bar, they kept a huge container filled with ice. I brought a plastic insulated large Starbucks cup with a lid and straw, on vacation with me, and would fill it up with ice and water so I could always have cold water. Every time my husband went to the bar, he'd bring me back a cup of ice to replace what I had drank. I suggest bringing a cup like this, as I am sure if you order a beer or soda they would fill it up for you and you'd need to take less trips to the bar, and it would stay colder for you.
NIGHTLIFE: There was simple entertainment in the evening...some music being played, a few dancing acts. It was something to do or watch while hanging out by the bars or pool, but the quality was just average. If you love nightlife, I would not suggest going here. This resort is meant more for people who just want to relax and enjoy the beach and weather, with the convenience of having access to food all day. Mixed clientele, but overall an older crowd with a few families or younger couples. Further north on the island are the bigger resorts and there appeared to be many restaurants and bars if you want nightlife and other entertainment. There are casinos on the island too, but we did not visit them. There were also a lot of water activities on the north end.

We have been to many island resorts throughout the years, and we highly recommend this one if you know what you are getting. Don't go here expecting to be spoiled with 5 star amenities, but go here if you want a relaxing vacation with sun, beach, quiet and the convenience that all-inclusive provides.

Room Tip: If you want isolation ask for units 2000-2400. If you want to be close to resort, ask for 1100-1400...

Aruban laid back enjoyment ,but we expected more from the advertised blurb .Pluses are you
