“Quite good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We just returned last week from a wonderful stay at the Tamarijn. I traveled with my husband and children ages 10 and 7. The resort was full, yet we never felt like it was crowded. We ate at all the restaurants, except Palm Grill. Just looked too darn hot to be sitting at a cook top table with no air conditioning! Though, another couple claimed it was wonderful. All the restaurants were very nice. Nothing extraordinary, but nice. Our room was just as expected, small but it worked just fine. We were in room 1904, right past the bunker bar. It was very quiet which we appreciated. The ocean, a stones through off the balcony. Shower door was installed and worked fine. No complaints. We visited the high rise section when boarding the Jolly Pirate cruise - yikers! Wall to wall people. Roped off swim areas. Music pumping. If you were a teen or young adult who likes to party, this may be your spot. But, for a family who is looking for a more private experience, the Tamarjin is it. Even when sitting/lying on the beach, you were never closer than 30 -40 feet to anyone else. That was very nice. The pool was just fine for us. Nothing fancy, but certainly large enough. The transport between the two resorts worked quite well. We never waited longer than 10 mins. Most all the staff we encountered were very pleasant. We always made sure to leave tips at the buffet, bar, golf cart transport, maid, etc. Please folks, bring an extra $100 to leave some tips for these hard workers. Also, and I have to get this in, if you have kids, please pick up after yourselves. It was very disturbing to see large tables at the buffet let their kids rip up napkins and bread, spill all over, and leave everything on the floor for staff to clean up....and yet, not even leave a tip. Kills me.

Make sure to ask for ice cream from the Pizza bar. They have wonderful little ice cream cups in a variety of flavors that were quite good. I enjoyed the Balashi beer and all the drinks. The food at the Pizza bar was very good.

Overall a wonderful, relaxing place. If you are deciding between the Tamarjin and the high rise area, keep in mind, you will be on top of others at the other resorts. The Tamarjin is really perfect. You can be as social or non-social as you like. Most guests were very friendly. Many return year after year which says a lot!

The only thing I would love to see down the road is more seafood. Even if the Pizza bar offered a grouper sandwich or something at a premium. That would have been wonderful!

As a quick review, I would share overall that Aruba is a BEAUTIFUL destination. The Tamarijn Aruba All Inclusive is a very nice hotel. My son and new daugher in law were married during our stay and we had about 40 others that joined us.

The hotel has beautiful grounds, the staff was very friendly, the rooms were comfortable and well kept, and the the water is incredible.

My only negatives would be that the hotel is a bit understaffed at their bars and restaurants. While those servicing were courteous and good and they did not short you on the liquor, they just needed some additional help as there were always more customers at the bars than could be serviced quickly. Not horrible, but lacking a bit.

As for the food, I found the buffet restaurant to be pretty good. AS for the specialty restaurants, I would highly recommend the Ginger (Asian), fantastic. The Red Parrot was pretty good, but I found the Palm Grill to be too hot and uncomfortable for the dining experience, although the food was ok. The Italian Restaurant, was poor at best. Apparently, Italian cooking is a bit tough for Aruba cooks. I would not recommend the Italian restaurant.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and I would seriously consider going back again sometime in the future.

Room Tip: I would recommend anything in bldgs 11 through 19. Once you get to the 20 bldg and beyond you are q...

Had a lovely time at the Tamarjin and Divi , great idea to check you in on the transfer coach. The food in the main buffet was very good and the A La Carte restaurants were very good, the Red Parrot was my favourite but they were all good. The rooms we clean and we had a nice beach view. The staff were very good in all areas of the hotel from the bars, restaurants, cleaning staff and reception. The Thompson rep Karen was fantastic very helpful and greeted you with a smile. The beach was a bit rocky at the Tamarjin end but walk down to Divi end and the beach was fine.
To sum up we had a good holiday the people of Aruba are wonderful if you want a good holiday good food and wine you have got to go.

First time on Aruba. Always wondered about the allure to the island, I believe it’s the constant 82 degree temp, nice breeze & no rain (tour guide told us they get less then 3% a year – so it’s a desert feel). You really don’t feel the heat (although, be aware it’ll get you, so stay covered with tanning lotion!).

Beach: Amazing! Always able to find a lounge and the ocean was spectacular. Just beware that it’s a bit rocky in the waters so bring water shoes.

Location: Amazing! We were in block 2200 (It was almost at the end of the complex) we were able to walk out of our sliders right on to the beach.

Accommodation: Small rooms and very out dated they need updating! (our daughter’s room had furniture that was broken, phone didn’t work, etc) but kept clean & we were not there for the rooms. Property is maintained extremely well. The guys who run the shuttles are all great.

Food: The buffet was just okay. They had a lot of same dishes nightly & changed up the meat selections, could have been much better. One of our daughters is a vegetarian and the choices are VERY limited for them basically salads, fruits and breads, very disappointed. Also, need to make reservations for specialty restaurants and could only do so 2 days in advance which is sometime hard to do. We only at 2 specialties because of it: the Italian restaurant, Paparazzi was AWFUL (if you know good Italian food). Ginger, Asian Fusion was VERY good.

Front Desk: Was okay, depending who helped you

Concierge: Some staff members (specifically Iris and another woman) were not friendly at all and made us feel like we were bothering her, nasty attitudes. The younger staff members were always nice.

Night Shows: Entertaining, we thought the best were the Circus & Fire show. The dance shows were good but after a while it’s the same dance over and over just different costumes.

Pools: Many to choose from - all great!

They charge for Wi-Fi, which I think is crazy since you’re paying top dollar for 3 star accommodations.

Room Tip: We were in block 2200. It was near the end of the complex. Quiet but a little far, 1800/1900 would...

we're pretty happy with our stay. we really started to appreciate the Tamarjin and Divi when we visited the other large hotel area. Having direct access to the beach was priceless.
The A La Carte restaurants were all great. The Tamarjin buffet was ok. The Divi buffet is much better. I like the idea of three different pools at Tamarjin. although they are small, its nice to escape the "pool" scene. The beaches were in good shape. This place is very safe after hours. Overall werewolf really happy and would like to go back one day

We have just come back from Aruba. What a fabulous holiday. My one bug bear were the bar staff I personally found them very rude on several occasions they just ignored me and would rather serve the men. Apart from that food so varied excellent choice. Rooms changed sheets and towels everyday. Our room on the ground floor was just feet from the beach. There are also several swimming pools, a jacuzzi and hot tub. We are definitely going back next year.

If you are looking for an affordable all inclusive in Aruba, this would be the place to stay. Not fancy, staff is very friendly. Food was ok at the restaurants, the best restaurant was Ginger. You need water shoes, beach is on a coral reef so you can snorkel right off of it but don't go barefoot. And the waves were rough, I think it is the area. The high rise hotels have calm water and smooth sand. A few hiccups - the event listing shows a scavenger hunt on Tuesdays at the Divi - we went there and they said it was at the other resort (10 min walk or shuttle ride) so we put the kids on the shuttle and stayed by the pool. They came running back 15 min. later, the other resort sent them to the kids camp, front desk, towel hut, then back to this hotel. Turns out the scavenger hunt is only at Easter - why would it be listed in the daily events? Who knows. The kids were upset, it was the only thing they were really looking for. But the towel hut person (Javier I think?) was very apologetic, talked to his manager and had a little gift bag made up for both of them. That was very nice of him to care about how upset they were. There were not that many activities that my kids liked (they are 11 and 13) so they got a little bored. We did a Beaches resort a few years ago and the Kids Camp was extensive and amazing. I think they were expecting that - but this was a lot cheaper than Beaches.
One other incident - my daughter had her mask on in the pool and went to the bottom when she thought she saw a weird looking rock. Turns out it was a piece of poop. I am not kidding, my mother fished it out with the net and then called the front desk. They came and put up a pool closed sign. I have no idea if they treated the pool after that, we never went back in that one. Luckily we can laugh about it today.
They did have some great shows - they had a circus show that was like a mini Cirque du Soleil, very entertaining.
We were in the Dutch village (1 bedroom suites) which worked out great for a family of 4. For the price, it was a good place to stay.

Room Tip: If you have a 1 bedroom suite take a first floor (deck to outside) or 2nd floor balcony. We had 3rd...
