This was our second stay at Brechfa Forest Barns and yet again an amazing break.

Our first stay was in December last year when we had severe snow. Whilst this made the stay magical, it did limit our exploring.

This stay we worked our way through the ‘Black Folder’ that our hosts have prepared showing all the best places to visit. We did all of the walks, and more of our own. Visited the recommended ‘dog friendly’ beaches, the only thing we didn’t do was eat out as it’s a little tricky with four dogs. However a Tesco’s home delivery for everything we needed sorted that out (definitely recommend doing this to save carting all your stuff down there) or waste your precious time shopping.

The cottages are so homely and have everything you could need for your stay. This holiday is just so relaxing, you can do as much or as little as you want to do. A brilliant base for hiking and mountain biking.

Our first stay was in The Hay Barn which was amazing. This time as I was coming alone (my husband was away mountain biking in France and this was the one place I knew I’d be happy coming alone with the dogs), I stayed in The Old Bike Shed. This is a small cottage but just as well equipped as the larger cottages. The ladder to the mezzanine sleeping area was secure and after the first time I was up and down as if it was stairs. The little secure garden was just amazing to watch the sunsets and the wild birds feeding.

Will definitely be back later in the year. Probably leaving the dogs behind this time and taking the mountain bikes.

A little haven in the hills!

“Absolute Perfection!”

We recently stayed at Brechfa Forest Barns and will be returning as soon as possible! From the initial booking to the end of our holiday Nikki was so helpful, the dog friendly information provided was fantastic and helped us plan our stay, taking full advtange of the beaches especially in the hot weather!!The beaches are beautiful, especially Pembrey Country Park Beach and the Black Lion food was fantastic. The Barns and views are absolutely breathtaking, and we couldn’t of asked for more from our holiday. Our beagle certainly loved watching the world go by and greeting everyone that passed our gate!

We can’t wait to return!

P.s make you sure you have some of Nikki’s delicious food - especially the trifle!

“Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.”
Reviewed 29 June 2018 for a stay in June 2018

How do you try and top perfection? The answer is you can't. You re-book and go back. I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else for our holiday now. The barns has everything you could possibly need or want.

Right from the drive up the hill to the breath taking view that greets you as you drive down the driveway. The barn itself is beautiful, the kitchen is fully equipped, the bedrooms are a lovely size. Your own individual garden (which is fenced off) is absolutely lovely, along with bench and seats to sit on.

The folder of helpful places to go is so much more than that. Whether you want forest walks (of which there is one right on the doorstep) along with so many others. Or a relaxing time on the beach, visiting local attractions. The list goes on.

If you've got your pooch with you then don't worry about having to leave them behind if you want to spend the day out and about. Pembrey Country Park is stunning and has 8 miles of doggy friendly beach to walk on. There are countless castles and dog friendly pubs to visit too.

Whatever you're looking for, you will find it at the barns. I can't recommend it highly enough. And we will be coming back next year too. We can't wait.

Archie the dog, Helen & Eileen.

“Ticks all the boxes”
Reviewed 29 May 2018 for a stay in May 2018

We’ve just returned from our first holiday with our puppy Maggie.
I found this place through a google search and immediately fell in love with it (check out fb and Pinterest) so had extremely high expectations! It is safe to say Brechfa forest barns exceeded them all!
We were greeted by Nikki, shown the fabulous accommodation, given invaluable advice (beaches, walks etc) in person and in the form of a very handy and comprehensive guide. The bike shed was fitted out with everything we needed and had beautiful views.
We had a home cooked meal on our first night, I could only dream of cooking up something so delicious! We also had the BBQ hut for an evening, this was a fabulous experience, great food, atmosphere and games to play :)
We had a fabulous time, I think my only regret would be that we didn’t pre order any more of the delicious food!!!!

“Truly a dog friendly holiday”

We wanted to have a short break where we could also take our newfy for our 30th wedding anniversary.
We stayed in the Old Bike Shed at Brechfa Forest Barns which was small but perfectly formed. The accommodation has been well thought out and has everything you need for your holiday. The views were exceptional - you could see for miles across the countryside.
The location is perfectly located for gorgeous beaches as well as walks through the Brechfa Forest.
It was truly dog friendly accommodation and was nice to see that your dog was accepted as part of the family.
We ordered a home cooked meal for our first evening and were not disappointed, Nikki is a very accomplished cook and has created a varied menu to suit all tastes.
Nikki and Jason were extremely welcoming and have provided all of the information you need to know in her concise black folder. It contains loads of information from best dog friendly beaches, forest walks as well as dog friendly eateries. Such a great help as saves time when you are on a short break - Can hIghly recommend Brechfa Forest Barns!

Having looked forward to my stay for 6 months and reading all the fabulous reviews I hoped that I hadn't built up my expectations too high ... I am pleased to say I hadn't!

The location and the views are A-MA-ZING! Despite being within a short distance from beaches, great pubs and shops you feel a million miles away. Nestled within the hills with views across rolling countryside and with the Beautiful Brechfa forest on your doorstep you are transported.

A week spent having lazy mornings, long walks, pub lunches and cosy nights in watching films was just what I hoped for.

The welcome from Nikki, Jason and the Beags was warm. A wealth of information provided on local walks, beaches, places to eat. The accommodation (we stayed in Bay Tree) was perfect for the 2 of us and our Beagle. Do try Nikki's cooking and also the BBQ Hut!

I left after my weeks holiday feeling recharged & refreshed.

I hope to return.

“The Dogs Review”

Our names are Archie, Finn, Lilo Lil, Rose and Her Majesty Maggie Moon the first.
We stayed here for a week with our servants Rachel & Lisa and we can honestly say that this place is Eutopia. A secure garden so we could look at all the sheep but not pop over to say hello, a massive forest with loads of places to sniff and the BIGGEST beaches you have ever seen where we could bark, swim, play and generally be ourselves without anyone rolling their eyes or saying we were too nosy. At night we sat in our lovely cottage with the fire on (our servants got chilly) and relax and literally sleep till morning when the next day we got up had our breakfast and did it all again. This place is simply the best and the owners are pretty cool too and they said hello to us and everything! We are definitely going back....

Hey gang! Thanks for the AMAZING review! We know how lucky we are to live here but we're happy to share this place with cool pups like you. Really glad you enjoyed some of our favourite places. We get our servants to take us to them and photograph us having a blast so they can show your servants how great it is here. Tough job but, well, someone has to do it! Can't wait to have you back. Woody, Cookie & Oscar beagles. Woof!
